I like to use Google Maps on my phone to see what the fastest route is...which should be the same way the navigation systems tells the Uber driver to go. If it suggests the highway, I'll compare it to the more direct route...I like heading right toward the strip, even if traffic makes it a slightly longer route.

 
I've always used the shuttle to get from the airport to the strip hotels. Blue line or something like that. I think it's about $12 each way.

Just returned from Vegas and used Uber at the airport.  Worked really well. The pick up is on the second level of the parking garage.  Just take the walkway over from baggage claim.  Was $11 to get to the MGM.  Buddy took a taxi and paid almost $30.  I ended up taking a taxi back to the airport as it was 4 am and couldn't find an Uber close or cheap.  Taxi ride was $15 with tip at that time.

It's legit but may not have tix to the shows you want to see. Try your hotel concierge as well. The guy at Caesars (near check-in) hooked me up with tickets to Absinthe that were about $30 below list price if I remember correctly. Not huge, but worth it.

Especially for Absinthe, you can always get discounts for that show from Caesar's (~$88) for below listed prices and below tix4tonight's (~$97) prices.

 
Not sure where to ask this but I guess this thread may work.... 

Anyone been to Omnia in San Diego? Headed there next Friday night to see Laidback Luke and was curious what to expect. Opted for the "VIP" pass which is expedited admission + $50 bar tab for $50... vs the "General Admission" ticket for $30. At $10-15 a drink, my tab will be well above $50 anyways so it seems like a no brainer. Curious about the venue itself from folks who've been. Staying at Kimpton Solamar across the street.

My wife and I loved Terry Fator - good clean fun. It's not Absinthe, but it was a really good time.

ETA: Oh, and I hated Mystere. The baby was so annoying that I just couldn't stand it. Some cool stuff, but I wouldn't recommend.

Fater was pretty good, some of his singing impressions were fantastic, some ok.  Totally agree about Mystere.  Way to much French artsy fartsy stuff and way too little acrobats doing amazing ####.

 
I'm just finishing the worst run of my gambling career.  Gambled Sat, Sun, Mon, and today.  Not once did I leave the table with any of my buy-in left.  I've never experienced anything like it honestly.  I get that you can't expect to win gambling but just bleeding money session after session was the suck.  Blackjack, craps, even freaking roulette had like 90% odds against me it seemed.  If I could have shorted myself I'd have made a mint.

Looking forward to coming back and reaping the fantastic run that's got to be in my future.  The universe certainly owes me after this weekend.

Used uber and lyft multiple times this past weekend...both are equally interchangeable IMO as both drivers typically drive for both anyway.  I only used a cab once b/c I had to get somewhere quick and there was a cab right there.

One thing to look out for is that most of the hotels/casinos have "Ride Sharing" pick up areas that might or might not be close to the regular cab area.  Technically you could pick up an uber anywhere, but sometimes all the crazy turns, alleys, back of the casinos etc throws the GPS off.  In that case, we just quickly shot a text to the driver or called to tell them exactly where we were.  Not a dealbreaker by any means, but just something to be aware of.

 
If you're a true football nut, who wants to bet on and watch a bunch of different games...you have to see the renovations they've done at the Westgate.  The clearest, largest screens I've ever seen.  From a purely watching football perspective, it truly blows every other book out of the water IMO.  The area is huge, nothing but nice plush comfortable chairs....doesn't have the smokey feel like they used too.....huge new bar, etc.

The only real  downside is that the food is horrible.  We've been there every year, and for some reason there aren't any good options.  They have this sports grill area, and really that's it....but it's just not good.  We went so far as to potentially order Dominoes to come deliver to us this year, but ended up just buying chips and stuff from the hotel store.

You placed your bets there TF?  We were thinking we'd try to get our NFL stuff down Saturday night at the Venetian where we're staying and then maybe head to Westgate to watch on Sunday am.  Of course I'm such a degen I'm sure I'd end live or halftime betting at Westgate anyway.  Just curious.

If you know what you want to bet ahead of time, I'd probably just get your bets down where you stay then head to WG to watch...then place live/halftime bets accordingly at WG.  The WG lines to get long right before kickoff and after games....so it makes it easier just to cash out where you stay b/c you can do it on your own time.  I did a mix of both and ended up having to uber back to cash a rather large prop bet that I could only get at WG...but I knew that going in.

first -  quit playing blackjack

2nd- take a break a while.    

3rd- had a similar run last year (with breaks, over a 3 day period) and got shelled at everything also

4th - came back this year and won every night of 3 days and made a small fortune.    Yes you will rebound

I feel ya brother. I took a beating a couple weeks ago. Lost pretty much every sports bet I made, and lost $700 in one blackjack session. Still had a blast, but was felt pretty beat up.

The $'s not even a big deal, I just hate to feel like I'm a sucker.  I mean, I know I'm  sucker for gambling at all, but dammit, at least let me win a bit so I can pretend I'm not!

Also, for those interested....Been in Vegas all weekend. Surprisingly enough,all of the casinos who use Stations as line originators have the most prop options. They have the London game, SNF, MNF and about 12 other random player props for the regular games. 

Not great, but better than nothing. 
Westgate had their SNF and MNF prop sheet available Saturday morning - there were like maybe 5 total player props for each game

El Cortez (Stations) didn't have any of their props until Sunday morning (well, I guess it could've been Saturday night..but I didn't check) - they had 6 for the London game, then 12 total for the "regular" day games, then another 6 or so for the SNF/MNF games each

I really enjoy the MGM sunday/monday night card. First score will be a td pass, total intercetions, odd/even scores, fumbles, FG's etc. Had many a crappy game where I am watching til the end praying they score and dont miss the extra point or that they miss a FG or whatever. Have vivid memories of jumping up and down on my bed in NYNY as the bears got a garbage TD for me to complete an 8 leg goofy prop bet on a monday night. Cutler to Alshon. I remember screaming don't you dare go for two!!!

 
Wife and I are heading to Vegas in 6 weeks.  I'm looking for an adult show that isn't a whore house or a strip club.  Has anyone seen any and make a recommendation?  53X looks kind of like what I'm looking for.  

Basically it's going to be a ####-cation for us.  Won't gamble much...long weekend, food, shows, drinking....that's pretty much the plan.  Was thinking of hitting Paris Mon Ami Gabi for dinner then hitting the show after on a Friday.  Good idea?  Bad idea?  

We haven't been to Vegas since like 2003 or 2004.  Need help from the FBG who have a life.

If you like a lot of smutty humor, some hot chicks in pasties, and tons of astounding acrobats, I can't recommend this show enough.  The venue at Ceasar's is so small that we had seats in the 2nd to last row and I got so caught up in the show I didn't even think about our seats once.

Really really good stuff.

From reviews in past pages it was actually recommended by many to get seats farther back....a better experience overall than right up front.   A lot of the performances are higher up s so better viewing angles from farther back, and no risk of getting splashed with water by some bathtub performance.

I got tickets to the show on 10/21 and requested them to be in the final row by the bar area side of the tent.

It's so good that I have a hard time deciding which I liked more between Absinthe and "O".

And Absinthe is such a small show compared to something like O.  Really does speak to how entertaining it is from start to finish.  Assuming that is that you're not offended by the constant use of the F word and graphic descriptions of anal sex.

I'm pretty bawdy.  Wife talks like a sailor when not around the kids.  Sounds like a perfect show for us.  

Going to have dinner at Il Mulino beforehand.  Reservations for 8:30 then go to the 10:00 show.

Download the PlayMGM App. Walk into any MGM property book (Mirage is right across the street from you iirc), fund your account for however much you want to gamble, and you can now bet on games from anywhere in NV at any time. Includes in game wagering. 

My current belief is that this is going to land us at bars to watch the games instead of books next year.  It's both insanely handy and dangerous.

Was at the Venetian sportsbook yesterday for NCAA football. Got there around 7:45am, no problem getting seats. We were 2nd row great view of all TV's and current lines. There was alot of reserved spots with names on them, but many people just took them off. 

We were there about 10 hrs, just took the 60 second walk over to Walgreens and got a six-pack at a time ($9/six pack bud light). They did give us a few drink tickets but said it usually required a $200-$300 bet. So easy just going to Walgreens, we just rotated which person went and got the beer (and snacks). If you really wanted you could easily bring a collapsible cooler with ice and keep under your desk to keep beer cold. Decent food at the burger bar behind the book and in the food court.

I'm guessing its gets crowded earlier on Sundays, but just a heads-up for whoever was asking earlier.

Thanks bro.  We will be at Venetian Vet's Day weekend.  Probably won't just camp at the book either day (makes us feel like slugs) but definitely nice to know we COULD if we wanted to.  And yes I am the guy that brings a cooler and goes to Walgreens to get a fifth of vodka and 2 liter of soda and goes to the bar to order two glasses of ice.  Screw em if they don't like it.
