Wow. I wonder if they have some type of insurance for this kind of thing. CrazyI can only imagine what this is costing them:
Power has been out at Paris Las Vegas for more than 12 hours and it could continue through the night after workers in the basement cut into the main power line.
I simply cant believe they had to get everybody out and wont let people in unless it is for emergency medications. i would be so pissed not being able to get at my stuff.I can only imagine what this is costing them:

well played TFWestgate is likely your best bet. Seen Westgate as a suggestion.. can we show up around noon or so and get a seat for the late games? Or will people clear out after the morning games and we can slide in? If there's an off-strip place that has nice TVs where we can definitely get seats, I'm all about Uber..
TIA
I didnt go on it, but I believe drinks are sold at the "wheelhouse" and you can bring them on with you. If you reserve an entire pod, they can put a bar tender on it.Anyone go on the High Roller? There is some kind of deal where you have an open bar on it or something? Does this mean there is a bar right in the pod? Or is it just that you can bring a drink on and look around for half an hour?
There is a bar car. Costs a little extra, but it's all you can drink. Note: no restrooms in the pods.Anyone go on the High Roller? Good point. Hasn't thought of that angle. There is a bar car. Costs a little extra, but it's all you can drink. Note: no restrooms in the pods.
Vegas has always been at the extreme ends of the booms and busts, 8 years ago strip hotels were falling all over themselves throwing free rooms at people, comps, low table limits, etc. Feels like we are nearing the peak of a long boom cycle, just need a good recession to knock them down a peg or two! This dynamic started on the strip years ago. As a Vegas veteran--let me give this sound advice to anybody that is going to Vegas. If gambling is one of the real primary reasons that you are going to Vegas--do yourself a favor and do not gamble on the strip. Many years ago--the major strip hotels relied on gambling as being the heavy majority of their incomes. Because of this--they would offer better odds, better payouts, etc--to get people to return. They also had cheap food and cheap rooms to get people in their casinos. However--the strip is now a completely different animal. While gambling is still a revenue generator for them--they also now have day parties at the pools, night clubs with insanely high cover charges and bottle service, far more pricey room rates, expensive shows, and expensive dining options.

Seriously? Not enough attendance? They closed the theatre down for NFL about 6 weeks ago.
I am not sure, do a google search on it. I know this year they started charging $5 a head for the theatre, but you got a free beer. And I think it was crowded first few weeks of NFL, then they shut it down. I think it was shut down for good, but I haven't checked in last few weeks to see if by some off chance they re-opened it.Seriously? Not enough attendance?
I'm heading down for my buddy trip on the 11th, keep hearing comments on betting podcasts about how NFL betting is down as ratings are down. Is Vegas less crowded for Sundays these days?
While there is truth there--8 years ago was 2008 when multiple economic bubbles blew up effecting the entire USA. I think the main thing with Vegas (in regards to the strip) is that the major strip hotels were searching for an identity for a while. Way back when --the strip was basically an anti-children, get adults into your casinos at all costs (whether it was cheap rooms, cheap food, comps..etc) proposition. Then, they realized two problems. This philosophy basically made it impossible for families to come to Vegas--and non-gamblers could easily take advantage of these cheap rooms, cheap food, and cheap entertainment--which in turn cut into their bottom lines. Then for a while--Vegas tried to become more a family tourist destination. Theme parks opened up at both the Circus Circus and the MGM grand--but Vegas soon found out that catering to children ended up costing more money than it made. Finally--Vegas realized that the best way to make money was to not only be known as a "night-time" city. They realized that adults (even non gamblers) go to Vegas to indulge themselves. They've monetized their swimming pools by throwing day parties. Instead of people hanging out in free casino lounges--they figured out that people will spend money to go to exclusive night clubs with high cover fees. They realized that non-gamblers are willing to indulge and spend good money on nice dining and drinks. They've even realized that because people come to the strip to indulge--that they have no incentive to give their rooms away for cheap rates (unless they know for a fact that you are a moderate to heavy gambler). Vegas was basically a boomtown for like 20 straight years before the bubble burst. I certainly hope a recession doesn't knock down the strip a notch or two--because the strip is basically a microcosm of our economy. It's profits are convention based and tourists indulging on themselves. A recession on the strip would most likely mark a nation wide recession. I think the key for the Vegas tourist is to be honest with what you want out of your trip. If you want a vacation of pure indulgence and convenience regardless of cost--then you should absolutely enjoy the strip. Great dining, great rooms, great shows, not so great gambling--all within a few miles--but all at a cost. If you want bang for your buck--you just have to pick and choose your indulgences (gamble at locals places, maybe have one to two meals a day off the strip, if you plan on just sleeping and showering in your room---pick a more modest hotel.etc). Vegas vacations are truly customizable to your needs as long as you are honest with yourself in regards to what your priorities are.Vegas has always been at the extreme ends of the booms and busts, 8 years ago strip hotels were falling all over themselves throwing free rooms at people, comps, low table limits, etc. Feels like we are nearing the peak of a long boom cycle, just need a good recession to knock them down a peg or two!

Saw it with my GF. Seats way in the back, but still very good.Has anyone seen Celine Dion in concert at Caesar's? Good show, worth the price?
I kind of sort of really love her a lot...![]()
$25 roulette tables always have $5 minimum chips inside, to the best of my knowledge. Nothing to do with a lazy dealer.Another time I wanted to play roulette at a $25 minimum table and bet $1 chips because of how I bet completes on 17/20 and the dealer said he would only do $5 chips even though my total bet would be like $35-40.
I have never seen singles either.$25 roulette tables always have $5 minimum chips inside, to the best of my knowledge. Nothing to do with a lazy dealer.

Just told the wife. ONE MORE AWESOME REASON TO GO TO VEGAS!That rocks!!
Luxor would be a decent choice because you can play and have easy access to Mandaly Bay, NY NY (A great casino and atmosphere IMO with $5 craps and black jack during the day), and The MGM.Anyone have a pro tip on staying at a lessor hotel but getting a suite?
Seems like some good deals at Luxor/Monte Carlo/TI level hotels on the nicer rooms.
I like the tower luxury suites at luxor. Have stayed there a few times. Probably staying there December 16th-18th. They have a fridge, are huge, and the location doesnt bother me like it does some. I would avoid the pyramid, but I only stayed in it once. Carpet was nasty. Got transferred the next day when we had almost no water pressure. Never had any issues in the newer towers though.Anyone have a pro tip on staying at a lessor hotel but getting a suite?

The newer "Go" rooms at The Flamingo are totally fine. I think we had a few nights comped and Thu/Fri were $100 a night. We tend to stay at Harrah's properties due to the player card.Anyone have a pro tip on staying at a lessor hotel but getting a suite?

See one post upHow did this go?
im headed out in 4 weeks and it was my intention to go to the westgate sportbook as they offer player prop bets.
Bump for RefPosted this in the gambling thread:
Also, for those interested....Been in Vegas all weekend. Surprisingly enough, all of the casinos who use Stations as line originators have the most prop options. They have the London game, SNF, MNF and about 12 other random player props for the regular games.
Not great, but better than nothing.
Westgate had their SNF and MNF prop sheet available Saturday morning - there were like maybe 5 total player props for each game
El Cortez (Stations) didn't have any of their props until Sunday morning (well, I guess it could've been Saturday night..but I didn't check) - they had 6 for the London game, then 12 total for the "regular" day games, then another 6 or so for the SNF/MNF games each
This was a smart move.Flying out tomorrow night. Can't hardly wait.
Just ordered two tickets to absinthe. Wife wanted to use Groupon but after reading about how bad you get roasted up front and how uncomfortable the seats are I reserved us a table on the edge of the tent.
I was just there on December 4th (one day after their grand opening). It's very uninspiring and frankly--the casino is TINY. There are a few table games and some Asian themed/inspired slot machines--but that's about it. The casino is literally one medium sized round room. I did notice that they had a few Asian restaurants that seemed to be fairly busy--but I didn't eat there--so I cannot comment on that. The place certainly has a "middle-class" vibe as it's far from being extravagant or fancy. It's a very "meh" experience.Does any have plans to visit the new Lucky Dragon casino? It doesn't look very impressive. Supposedly they're targeting middle-class Chinese gamblers so I guess they may have low limit table games.
Waze is a great Navigation App that let's users help each other with regards to traffic, road hazards, cops, etc. Used it to drive from Indy to Florida. Drove 95mph the entire trip. Knew exactly where to slow down for cops and avoided construction saving over 30 minutes. What is WAZE mentioned in the post before this? Is the shark move possibly to stay downtown Vegas for the beginning of the trip while I'd be commuting to Henderson, or maybe the entire trip?
If my wife and son tag along, they want to do the Grand Canyon. Has anyone done this by driving on your own? Or is it better to do as a group on some charter?
