great deals available at some 5 star properties in mid to late July. Yeah, i know...July in the desert but how much time do you spend outside there anyway? Both wynn and encore have rooms for ~$130 per night range, and hotwire is listing Trump as low as $70. Also that $100 palazzo deal has popped up again. Absolutely cannot beat the Palazzo at $100/nt IMO
If I were to look at my history of Vegas trips I bet I've been there in July more than 50% of them. It's a good time to go. Feels good to walk into a nice cool casino.

Of course I grew up in Arizona so the 110 heat is fine for me.

Yeah - the "sandwich trick" has never failed for me. I had to go to $50 at the Bellagio, but I did get a he suite out of it.
The $20 tip I get. What is the sandwich trick?
You sandwich the $20 between your license and credit card.
Funny that this actually works these days. Very old school thing to do. Has a front desk person ever not accepted it? Or can they all be bought for $20?
I posted this in here last July, but I had a woman not give me an upgrade and still keep the 20 bucks.

Was rather ridiculous.

How much sleep do you get per day while you're in Vegas? Curious what the concensus is for this.
Usually average 3-5 hours a night depending on what I've got going on.

In the past I've pulled my share of all nighters, though. The very first night in vegas I pulled one... GF went to bed as we had a wedding to attend the next day. I sat down at a 1/2 NL table and proceeded to quadruple up over the next 5 hours or so. Got a call at 7am "Where the hell are you?!". She showered and came down to grab me. Told me I better not leave her hanging so we immediately went out on the strip for the day shoppng, walking, hitting ansel adams museum, etc. Just kept drinking and powered through it.

Worst part was we had a RedEye flight the next night that departed at 2am or something stupid like that. We had to check out earlier in the day so I had no room to sleep in. Stack a case of food poisoning on top of it and that 2nd night was among the worst I've had. 3hr layover in HOU had me lying on hte ground in the fetal position with the sweats. It was horrible.

Since I am 50 and getting away from young kids, I usually get a lot of sleep. I am not into the club scene. I like to gamble, work out, relax, and sleep.

Lol.... We have all been there at one point or another

29 days and counting till my Vegas weekend at the MGM with my best buds and an evening of Rush!

Looking forward to not much sleep, lot's of alcohol, the kind, lot's of dice rolling and food.

I go for March Madness every year and that demands an early wakeup schedule if you want a seat in a sportsbook. We're usually in bed pretty early on those trips.

I went to Vegas for March Madness and I was up $500 after the first five games.

"The next 10 games"

Anybody have any breakfast recommendations?

The Border Grill in Mandalay Bay has a great brunch on Sat/Sun but I won't be there during these days. Thanks

Hash House a Go Go is the standard recommendation there
It's good but The Peppermill is a Vegas institution worth experiencing if you haven't. There will be a wait. There will an interesting crowd of locals to go with the very Vegas ambience. But in the end it's just a down home diner.

I'm on east coast time the whole time I'm out there so I can go to sleep at 3 am PT and still wake up at 6. What I do is spend the morning doing things and then come back and take a nap in the late afternoon. Then I approximate as much sleep as I normally get back home. Worked well for me back in April. HTH

So I am off for 10 days and I threw out the "Hey, let's go to Vegas" line. Over the years, we have gone a lot (my 15 year old has been 8 times), but we haven't ventured out there in 4 years. We aren't big gamblers, but my wife has family out there so that is the excuse we use to stay in all the different properties. My wife initially said no and gave a list of excuses why we shouldn't go. So like a good husband, I ignored her and start researching trips. Once I started throwing out real numbers, she was getting the luggage out. I am literally looking at leaving Denver on Sunday and coming back Thursday.

Anybody have any hints on getting good last minute rates? Expedia seems to be high. I started the booking process directly at Spirit and it just is a never ending barrage of added on costs. What started out as a cheap flight ended up around $800.00, which beat Allegiant, Southwest, and Frontier by far, but they don't guarantee (unless you drop another $140) that you will sit together, which flying with a 10 year old and a 15 year old, I am not happy about. I have never flown with them and boy, do these seem to have a ton of negative reviews--but for an 80 minute flight or so....I can take about anything.

I tried booking directly at the Monte Carlo and this morning I had a great rate, tonight it has gone up at least $200.00. Do they release rooms in the morning and then raise the costs as the day goes on? I figured we should have received some decent rates being that we are going the day after the 4th.

We have stayed at the upper end places such as the Palazzo and let's just say they really are not family friendly, which I have no complaint with at all. . So we are looking at Monte Carlo--the wife and kids like the pool there, The Luxor had really declined the last time we stayed there and Circus Circus is and always has been a dump. Paris seems to be reasonably priced, but a friend that stayed there recently said it has really fallen off.

I've had great luck with Priceline. Go to betterbidding.com and read the forum about Nevada and see which hotels are listed at which parts of the strip.

Also, make sure you are really going because refunds are next to impossible with Priceline.

I've found some amazing deals on hotels in Vegas and NY.

Stayed at Paris and Gold Nugget with kids last week . Paris was the normal above average LV hotel, nice rooms and great amenities (including pool). Gold Nugget has very nice remodeled rooms, a cost 1/4 of Paris, a neat water slide for kids through the shark aquarium.... but the clientele....its bottom feeders. I don't see myself as a snob, but the pool scene at the family pool was very trashy on a Sunday afternoon.

I wouldn't bring the family back to GN and would try NY NY next time.

If you are all on same booking, your seats should be together on Spirit. That's been my experience, same with others flying with multiple people on same booking.

Tip: I always ask for exit row at the gate when flying Spirit and always get one for free.

What's the recommendation on getting the best prices on show tickets again?

Can't believe of all the times I've been down there, this will be the first show I attend....

Group of 5 looking at "O".....

Thanks

Mon Ami Gabi in the Paris is pretty good as well. I had the short ribs hollandaise last time and they were awesome. Should be noted that it provides much smaller portions than Hash House, however. Cant go wrong with either though.

Mon ami > hash house Unless you're a competitive eater or looking to feed your entire family on one plate to save money. Hash house is tasty, but Mon Ami is a step or two above with regards to quality, and in a different league entirelywith regards to ambience/experience. This is particularly true if you manage to get a table along the rail outside (tip hostess and be willing to wait a bit).

Loved Mon Ami Gabi. Great corned beef hash.

Is it worth a cab ride to have breakfast there not on the porch? Or is it more the people watching that makes it worth it. Going next week, and won't be doing much of anything outside in July.

It is RIGHT on the strip, great people watching. Across the street are the Bellagio fountains as well.

Mon Ami is my favorite resturaunt in Vegas. That is all.
Mine too.

Maybe not the best food. Maybe not the best ambiance. Maybe not the best value.

But as a package deal, it's fantastic... and it's the only place I make sure to visit every time I'm there.

Well in that case, it's on my list for my next visit
no kidding, i walk by that place all the time and never once thought to check it out. will have to now

I don't think O does much in the way of discounts, too popular. It is excellent.

Ps, you got a free like because I forgot how to reply on my phone and pushed wrong button.

It's pretty solid, I've been to the one here in Chicago here a couple of times.

It's also a lettuce entertain you restaurant in case some of you have those in your area for gift cards, rewards, etc.

went to see O last fall and couldn't find any discounts outside of a package deal by staying at Bellagio. IMO Le Mystere was a better show anyway, and less $$$

Flight is tonight, no work getting done today. First attempt at Vegas as a couples thing, will be trying to avoid any drama or shopping sprees on my dime.

Shopping sprees are great. Get the girls gone so you can play poker and drink.

Ok flying out Friday morning first thing. Staying at MGM.

Guys weekend (seeing Rush at the MGM as well). So give me your best strip club suggestions.

Also going to go downtown for the first time in a long while (I have not hit Freemont since 2002) and am going to check out Insert Coins bar (looks really cool to get some classic video game action while getting lit up).

Insert Coins closed "temporarily".

Plenty of strip club discussion earlier. Only one thing you really need to know - call the club and have them send you a limo. Never go to a strip club via cab.

Sure thing.

Crap Insert Coins is closed? That sucks. Was looking forward to checking that place out.

@Icon or anyone who has been there.

Rhino looks like a great spot. Now I have not gone nuts at a strip club in a good decade. But I am looking to get crazy (and stay under 1K) and also treat my two band mates to a great evening.

I am totally illiterate when it comes to bottle packages and such. Is that the way to go to have a truly great evening? Or just get the Limo to pick us up and pick out what girls we want. Guidance would be appreciated.

If I do a bottle package what's in it for the girls as opposed to just paying for private dances etc. Or screw all this and just get some hookers LOL.

I would definitely use the limo/bus to pick you up... call in advance and ensure it's free cover and specify you'd like a table for your group. Shouldn't be an issue.

On their website right now it looks like their single bottle is $325 and double bottle is $625... depending on the beverage you choose it will be 750ml or 1L. Be sure to be clear on that. This should be arranged beforehand (looks like may be online only? not sure).

FYI: 15 min lap dance is $100. Longer sessions get much more pricey. Tell your guys to watch out for hustles... as with any strip club there are girls looking to take advantage of drunk tourists. I can't speak to the mileage or anything as I've never gotten a dance there. We were there for 1 hour and the bachelor had just gotten back from the dance I bought him when the power went out and we got escorted out (without our 3 bottles)

Cool. I will call them and get clarity on all of it. As far as getting hustled by strippers. Been there and done that in my 20's...many wise stripper club lessons learned. I usually pick one girl I really like and pay her well for a nice hour to 1 1/2 hours of strip club pleasure.

My notebook says you are from Miami, in which case, you know you can have 3 times the fun at a fraction of the cost at a place like Tootsies.

I can and your right......we are (my buddies and I) reconsidering the whole going "to a Vegas Strip club" thing. We know how to have strip club fun down here for far less at Tootsies or Scarlets. It has been so damn long since I have indulged at a strip club (not going for Bachelor party purposes) that the idea was tossed around. But it is expensive in Vegas....crazy expensive as I am finding out from inquiring around.

It's really not horrible if you don't do VIP and bottle service. Just go in as regular guys and have fun. I find it's usually more fun that way anyway.
