Anyone seen the MIchael Jackson Cirque show?  any good?
The wife is a Michael Jackson fan so I ponied up the dough for this one. Cost me $400 for two seats. I'm still smarting over that. It is a popular show so you can rarely get the same-day cheap tickets.

It's basically just Cirque crap set to his music. It had a few cool special effects. The "story" of the show was pretty dumb. Unless you really love Michael Jackson I'm not sure it's worth it.

The Carnegie Deli in the Mirage is a must for lunch. If it's super crowded, get into the to go line and take it with you.

I always have fun at O'Shea's which is pretty much across the street. It's a fun place to hang, and the new walkway they put in that goes back to the Ferris wheel is pretty cool. They have live music, blackjack tables, and beer pong.

Great shopping for the girls next door at Ceasar's or across the street at the Venetian.

i can't take credit for it because I got it from this thread, but my new favorite restaurant is Yardbird at the Venetian. Best fried chicken ever.
Carnegie Deli is pretty good for breakfast sandwiches too.  They are large (like two people can easily share an egg/meat sandwich) and expensive, but well worth it.

Also, I have had decent success with the $20 trick at Mirage with rooms that I have booked outside of comps.

At Peppermill right now, best Martini in the world.

Ghostbar at Palms pretty solid, did a Vegas commercial with a bunch of "UK black" chicks. Cause that's what I do...

I was there a month ago for the first weekend of the Final Four.  Long story short, I won't be going back for awhile.  It was a weekend full of bad decisions and regrets.  Thankfully, I didn't end up in the paper and no one got hurt.

Haven't been to the Peppermill in a better part of a decade, but I do recall that very same observation... not to mention feeling like old school vegas.

C'mon, you have to share some details.....

Fill me in GB... I had a blast partying with you at the Wynn that once time 3-4 years ago.

It's not really that interesting but here it is.

I woke to this and this on Sunday. My alarms were blaring and every light was on in the room.  I was out of it, discombobulated.  I figured out that I had missed my noon flight but had no idea where the blood was from.  I wasn't hurt and didn't remember getting into it with anyone or anyone else being in my room.  I drank way too much and gambled way too much the night before.  I sheepishly called my wife to let her know I wouldn't be returning until Monday and tried to put the pieces back together.

1)  I blew through my $10K gambling loss budget and almost doubled it;

2)  I drank way too much and was essentially out of control; and

3)  I missed my noon flight and had to spend an extra day in Vegas.

I concluded that my behavior was completely unacceptable for anyone let alone someone in their mid-40s.  My wife was very understanding.  I took a sell imposed hiatus from alcohol and didn't have a drink until my birthday 2 1/2 weeks later.  Oh the blood.  I figured out where that was from when I blew my nose and realized I'd had a nose bleed from the dry Vegas air. :bag:

1%'s gonna 1%.

And by "dry Vegas air"  you really mean "copious amounts of coke", no?

Looks more like wine than blood....but if blood...

You didn't have a rough night with a Vegas escort, did you?

Glad it all worked out though.

If someone was staying downtown on Fremont, where's the best place to stay?
The strip, and Uber back and forth.  Stayed at the Plaza in October.  Was very disappointed. Hotel smelled bad.  Beds were ok, but the bathroom was built for a 5' tall midget.  Shower head was like 6" lower than typical showers.  If someone opened the door while you were on the toilet you were going to get cracked by the door bad as it was tiny.

Freemont is pretty cool and fun to check out but I'll never stay there again.

I didn't word that very well at all.. Let me try that again.  If you were sitting on the can and the wife opened the bathroom door, your knees were going to get whacked pretty bad.  The bathroom was only big enough to hold a shower, vanity and ####ter.

There are many tiny bathrooms downtown, but there are some nice rooms too. Rush Tower at Golden Nugget is what eoMMan seeks.

I think there is a huge difference in ventilation on the strip too. You can tell the units are newer and more thorough. Had a blast at the Four Queens and The D, but man were they smokey.

Chet, I was there when you were. Would have loved to have shared a drink, hooker, blow, and bloody nose with you.

Heading to Mandalay Bay (Delano specifically) in about 4 weeks for a mid-week short trip for the missus and I to get away from the kids for a few days.

Anyone seen the MIchael Jackson Cirque show?  any good?

Any Mandalay/Delano dining recommendations?   I definitely plan to eat at RM seafood, the other dinner is up for debate.  I really enjoy their Skyfall lounge at Delano, how is the Rivea restaurant next to it?   I ate at it before when it was something different.
I've always been a big fan of Aureole.  $$$, but the service and food has been top notch.

Oh, and Burger Bar between Mandalay and Luxor is good for casual eats.  That Irish pub next door is surprisingly fun and tasty too.

I had a night like that about 5 years ago in Vegas but less expensive.

It was an eye opener for me.  It still took a couple more years to get a handle on things but I realized that I can't handle bourbon anymore in quantity.

I have to stick with beer to remain blackout free.  Over 2 years blackout free now!

Heading out there in just over a week (Tues-Fri...May 3-6) with the wife.  Only been a couple of times, last time about 3 yrs ago, saw "O" and Absinthe the last time we were there.  Wouldn't mind checking out 1 or 2 new shows while there--any recs for things going on now that I can still grab some tix to?

Staying at Caesar's so we'll check out Trevi based on a couple posts above.  Open to any other recs for dinner.

Finally, I'll be alone for most of the days until early evening and planned on just doing some gambling but will probably bring my clubs and try to get a round in while there.  I've never played while there.....what's a good spot without going crazy?  It'll just be me and I'm just an ok golfer.

I have never opened this thread before but I just came over to tell you all that whatever has been said in the 113 pages of this thread, you are doing it wrong and you need to read Evil Grin's latest story and start over.

That is all /psa

Anyone?

I played a charity event at Bali Hai and it was a fun course. Actually won two rounds at another of their courses called Royal Links, which has a bunch of links holes copied from famous courses. I couldn't use the passes and tried to give them away in this thread but nobody piped up. Gave them away to a cool guy I met at Caesars when I was there a few weeks ago. Have fun golfing!

Leaving on Friday for a 4 day stint in Vegas (first time - staying at the Orleans) then Colorado to see family for 4 more days.  This thread is great!

Wife and I are not big rollers like many of you FBGers - lots of good bargain deals here.  We're not into gambling, but are looking to really go and get hammered and eat good food.  Any specific advice on accomplishing that goal without going broke?  Also, I'm brining one nice suit (not a regular suit-wearer), is it typical to dress nicely at night, or is it just a mix of all things?

Unless you're going to a club or like wearing suits there's really no need to.

You won't look out of place in a suit (as long as it fits well), but it's not necessary.

This sounds like everyone of my casino trips.

You can get some really good prime rib at the Orleans. There's an Irish pub right next door, too.

Me and the missus are heading to Vegas tomorrow through 5-27. Got comped rooms at Flamingo and Caesars. Where would you go for an anniversary dinner?

My wife and I were planning on going to the top of the Eiffel Tower for a romantic anniversary dinner several days ago when we were there (didn't actually go).  It's supposed to be wicked nice.

:goodposting:

The male uniform in vegas is a nice button down shirt, nice dressy/stylish jeans, and nice shoes. Some guys dress up more (slacks with some combo of shirt/tie/coat), some dress less (shorts and wife beaters), but generally speaking 99%+ of guys aren't wearing suits at most places.

It's not actually at the top, just an observation deck up there. But it is well elevated from street level, and features nice views of the Bellagio fountains.

If you truly desire high-altitude dining, the Stratosphere's Top of the World restaurant is underrated, and pretty spectacular at sunset.

If it was me, and I didn't want to drop the $400-$500 at the super-top-end places, I'd go to Joe's Stone Crab in the Forums shops.  Great meal every time I'm there, and it's not stupid expensive.  Expensive yes, but not stupid.  You can probably get out of there for $150 for a great dinner (no booze).

Make sure you try the key lime pie at the end.
