Verron Haynes is now a FB 2 (too) (1 Viewer)

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers RB Verron Haynes will serve as the emergency No. 2 fullback behind FB Dan Kreider, according to head coach Bill Cowher.
Might be nothing, might be everything. I still don't beleive that Haynes could step in as sole starting RB for any serious length of time. Part of a RBBC approach? yes.Hoepfully, Steelers won't need anyone this year. But if the situation arises, I think Cobbs might get some serious work.

Kreider is a tank. No need to worry about needing another FB.

Kreider IS a tank but I think nightshift makes a good point. If FWP goes down, Verron Haynes is not a lock to assume the #1 RB position.

At that point I think the Steelers employ a RBBC approach on 1st and 2nd downs with Haynes/Staley/Cobbs and Haynes' remains the 3rd down back until soneone emerges as the main guy.

GB,I haven't seen much on Cobbs since he joined the Steelers. Any intel is appreciated.I don't think Staley can do it either and I'll bet the Steelers feel the same. Haynes - 3rd down,; Staley - cheap insurance; Cobbs - ????

Good question about Cobbs. Why did he go undrafted, and how did he make such an impression on the Steelers in one TC with NE?
