Very Different Off-Season (1 Viewer)

I have to say that I have really missed the significant player discussions in the Shark Pool during this off-season. There have been a few, but there are much fewer and far between. More of the talk here is on the labor situation and I just don't have strong empathy with either side. I really hope that we will have a football season, but at this point it is hard to say.

Do you find yourself visiting here as often as in year's past? Do you like the discussions on the labor issues just as interesting as player movement and player prospects?

For me, it seems that I visit less often and indentify with fewer threads when I do come. Could this be a good time to work up some dynasty trades? It also seems to me that there is less activity there this year as well.

What are your thoughts?

There is no doubt that the labor issues have really caused a loss of interest this offseason in every league I am in.

Agreed. I've been negotiating trades all over the place, nearly out of boredom. I've caught myself once or twice realizing that. Saying something on the league message board just to talk football/dynasty. Stuff like that.

I still check in everyday but there isnt anything going on.

Most dyansty leagues Im in are dead (even though rzr n i did a deal about 2 weeks back)

April 6th is a big day for the courts and the league

Check in daily. My leagues are dead. I'm so bored I read the same #### over again. If the labor impasse has taught me anything it's I need to find a hobby until the weather changes and I can golf again.

:sigh:

No free agency really kills the interest. I suspect as we get closer to the draft, we'll start getting more draft talk, but even that seems to be way off from previous years.

Yeah, I think you might be right. I’ve noticed less action this offseason and didn’t think much of it or what was causing it… but I think the lack of FA moves (and trades) in the NFL is at least part of the cause. Some buzz and energy will be created if Ochocinco signs with NE or if Palmer is traded to MIA or if Orton is traded to MIN, etc. etc.

Once or twice a week here lately I guess. Not posting much.

With everything on hold, and now Schefter today saying there are whispers among owners the season is in serious jeopardy, it's pretty hard to get amped up about the NFL this time of year. The NFL draft will help temporarily but not a lot.

Sorry, didn't see your post until now. This was a Rotoworld blurb today:
ESPN's Adam Schefter passes along "whispers" from the NFL owners meetings that the 2011 season is now "in peril."

The rhetoric has been ramping up of late, so in that sense it's no surprise that Schefter found pessimism on the labor front. As long as the focus is on litigation rather than mediation, fans shouldn't expect to hear anything other than doom and gloom. We'll have a better read on the landscape after the April 6 injunction hearing.

I was going from memory and said "serious jeopardy" while he said "in peril." I might have overstated it(?). Still, it's not the direction you want to hear. :( Here's the actual Schefter tweet:

Long way to go, lots of money at stake, but here were the whispers at the owners meetings: Season now in peril.

Check in here, but spend more time in the FFA.My leagues are dead except for two, one has the usual auction going and the other is in the middle of the dispersal (new owner) draft.

check in frequently still.....but content really sucks....live for the drafts in the Mock Draft forums or the How Hot is This Chick threads in the FFA......at least the Mocks generate some discussion....sucks....hopefully the draft gets us back on track...would also like to see the staff maybe step it up and help generate some fantasy discussion.....

Much less but mostly because I can't stand the new forum layout/design. Drives me insane and sends me somewhere else quickly after arriving.
