Veterans Day? (1 Viewer)

Underachievers

The day when government employees can sleep in while the majority of veterans get up and go too work like a normal day.

Something wrong with that picture.

Just like you can't close hospitals for Labor Day, you can't close down the military for Veteran's Day. Some professions are too critical to do so. I would hope that those that work get an extra bonus for doing so.

I work with hundreds of veterans who are federal employees and they are all off tomorrow.

Good talk, Russ.

Wait...you think it's called "Labor Day" because it honors child birth?
Of course

Thanks to all that served.

We take our Veterans Day off the day after Thanksgiving. The vets at work seem to like that.

I'm going to go get my free car wash and then some free pancakes before deciding on where to get my free lunch at.

view of the NYC parade from my office.

went down and watched a bit from the sidewalk. many of the marchers would come over and shake hands with a guy standing next to me who was wearing some kind of vet cap. strange, but I've gotten weirdly sentimental as I've gotten older and had kids. found myself getting a bit choked up while clapping for the these guys. made sure to shake the cap-wearer's hand and thank him. it wasn't bobby layne, btw, who was too busy gorging himself at chick fil-a around the corner.

Too bad Veterans Day is the day after the GOP circus last night. I would much rather see Veterans being honored that rehashing what was said last night over and over. :/

That's just patronizing.

Well of course you're going to have to do some patronizing. Do you think they're going to deliver it to your house or classroom?

Pretty sure Chris Berman delivering Tanner an Applebee's sizzling entree in his classroom would be my dying Make-A-Wish request.

I'm a defense contractor that doesn't get veterans day of from my company.

So, with the client shut down today, I'm forced to use personal leave. Not an awesome reward for service IMO.

Hope it's better out there for the rest of us.

That said, I'm healthy and not missing any body parts. Thank you to those who made much larger sacrifices than I did.

Thanks Veterans! You are appreciated!

I hope you get a couple free meals today.
Starbucks for coffee.

Might grab a cupcake later. but when we have a family of 6, one free dinner isn't really free.

Sounds pretty swell.

We used to take Veterans day off but then realized almost every other business stayed open. Now we only give the day off to actual veterans.
