Hasnt been reported anywhere else, who knows how real. Apparently Vikings are trying to trade for him.

Source tells me Vikes making a play for V Jack. Not sure if anything eminent. I have NOT confirmed or got a denial from Vikes. #kfan

Imminent

Not too surprising after last night. Plus everyone assumed the team who tried to trade for him before and sign him to a one year deal was the Vikings

IS there anything this franchise does that DOESN'T reek of desperation?
Why are you always acting like a d-bag?
You need to learn to read posts about your team that aren't necessarily in favor of them. And not to hurl personal insults when you do. Sorry, but I happen to think that every move this team has made in the past two years is not only idiotic but a slap in the face to the game. I don't like the Vikings, never have, never will.If you can't take people bad-mouthing your team without calling people d-bags you shouldn't be here. I'm sorry but I think having one subpar game when your starting QB has hardly spent any time with the team, and then immediately selling the farm to sign a big receiver doesn't make any sense and reeks of desperation and lack of internal fortitude. Another piece of evidence that this team has sold its soul to win and why they ultimately won't.

You mean like bringing in Mike Martz to try and make a winning QB out of Jeff George er um I mean Jay Cutler.
Precisely. Hated the move when it was made, hate it now, and hate it if it takes us to the Superbowl (ok maybe I start to like MadMike then).NoCheese, that's the way to respond. Thick skin. Get some.

Well.. isnt winning what this game is about?? I think that its obvious they are going Yankees on the NFL but they have no choice. If they dont go all in, they are screwed for now and future. if they do go all in, just for the future. Its dumb but what can you do??

Thick skin? Get some? I wasn't offended by your post. I just found it ironic that a fan of a franchise that brought in Cutler and Martz was posting about desperation.

Asked if the #Vikings need another WR, Childress said he's "not thinking that way right now." Expect to see more and more Camarillo.
Yes...and "the door is closed" and a number of other things Childress has said to the media prior to things changing quickly the opposite way.I don't think its desperation...its smart. They know they have a short window...Jackson is a very talented guy and they have an uncertain future (this year anyway) of Sidney Rice.

Not make a gigantic trade and hand out huge money based on one bad game? Rely on your ground game until the passing game gets better? But hey, my problems with what they are doing/did started way back in camp. I laid it all out in my Vikes will crash and burn thread. I just think this is no way to run a team.

I doubt this will happen, but that way Childress says things makes it seem more likely. If it was a definite answer, its different, but not looking that way is pretty gray area

I agree. I read the posts. I agree w/ many and yes, some moves are made out of desperation since the window of opportunity is shrinking. But incendiary remarks like the one you made are unnecessary. You want me to be objective, yet you say "every move this team has made in the past two years is not only idiotic but a slap in the face to the game". Huh? A slap in the face to the game? Most on this board are able to recognize good moves from bad moves. You think they're all bad....because it's the Vikings, and you hate them. I'll admit I'm not a Childress fan, and the Favre drama is really annoying. You're entitled to your opinion, but please don't suggest you're the objective one and I'm a homer.

Yeah, bringing in Favre last year was a really idiotic move. So was drafting Sidney Rice and Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin.

I'd be more interested in whether Wilf thinks they need another receiver or not.

Childress is a buffoon/puppet. I don't doubt he's 'not thinking any way' right now, because he's prolly incapable. (Okay...I'll allow that he may be thinking about the way that will be the easiest to get the Turtle Wax from the can to his head).

Not at all. Just saying attack the post not the poster. Like the steelers fan who countered with Martz and Cutler. It's not like my team isn't ripe for counters. It's all good :slapfive:

Always appreciate Sho's comments. What I wonder about is that unless they can get affirmation from the league that he will be available to play week 4 and not week 7, is it worth it? By week 7 the Vikings could be out of it.

OK, honestly, what do draft picks have to do with anything? Also, it could be kind of a shark move by the Vikes, even if it does reek of desperation. Kinda kills Harvin's value though doesn't it? I think it could hurt his confidence/development.To me this does illustrate the kind of problems you take on when winning now is literally everything. Think about it: they are talking about taking on a WR that could hamper the development of one of the aforementioned 1st rd picks, and you've already left your cupboard completely bare at QB after this season. Furthermore, if you sign VJax to what he is asking, what does that do to the teams ability to sign Rice next year?

Yeah, if its week 7...thats a tough move at this point. As you said, they could be out of it...and Favre and the WRs looked out of sync enough...now bring in a guy 6 weeks from now and expect him to get in sync with Favre and the others and get the offense down?

I'd be desperate too if I were them. That would help Harvin-he doesn't run routes well enough to be a #1.

Harvin is very talented and a great inside WR.Maybe this can put to rest the talk that he was just their best WR.He may be the most talented guy they have all around, but it looked like (granted with a small sample size) that Rice is the better WR.

Are those not "moves" that the team has made? They're personnel decisions, just like trades and free agents. And I missed your explanation on how idiotic it was to bring in Favre last year.

Although this thread has gone another direction, I think people greatly underestimate how good the Saints secondary is when healthy. Porter/Greer are a top 3 CB duo in the league, and while Sharper is opportunistic and very intelligent, Jenkins is twice the athlete and could very well be an immediate upgrade. No need for the Vikings or fantasy owners to panic.

There are no indications that the head coach is about to be fired. Now that would be change we could all believe in.
quote from ADP, following the game:
“I’ll do whatever it takes,” he answered. “Whatever it takes to help this team win. I don’t know if Coach [brad Childress] heard me, but I remember walking by in the second half on the sideline saying, ‘Hey, give it to me. Feed me.’ I don’t know if he really heard me. But there’s a lot to learn from this game.”
Any loss leaves a bad taste in your mouth but comments like Peterson's are especially bitter. It's losses like this that cause coaches to lose the locker room and, ultimately, their jobs...

1 minutes ago - Although no receiver had more than one reception against the Saints, coach Brad Childress said the Vikings are not looking to add a WR through trade or free agency. Vikings RapidReports

I am still trying to figure out how anyone can criticize an NFL team for trying to win? If the Vikes somehow managed to scoop up Jackson in the coming days...to me it shows a commitment to winning instead of treading water.

Jeezus.Who said anything about "selling the farm"? You got 1 Tweet saying that the Vikings were interested and you're making grandiose character judgments on a team that were 1 late INT from the Super Bowl last year.

It's pretty clear that the Vikings current WR core aren't up to the job. Whether they have other issues (QB, OLine) is a separate issue. But when you have a team that's put together and ready to win now of course you use trades or free agency to bring in that one last piece that brings you from a good team to a dominating team. As long as it doesn't hand 13 players to the Cowboys, anyway. (Not Bitter)

Here you go.Aug 17 2010, 01:18 PMSure, this is an off-the-cuff wild-hair prediction, but anyone who was on the Denver-Bengals thread knows my awesome powers of psychic prognostication (joke)But I do think that things can't continue as they are without that team suffering mightily.People will be quick to point out that all this drama didn't keep them out of the NFC Championship game last year. But this year and last year are different, simply because there was a last year.Last year was courtship, engagement, and the honeymoon. It was all upside, all enthusiasm, all relief at having the yoke of Tarvaris Jackson's complete ineffectiveness lifted from the team's shoulders. This year is the marriage, and as anyone who is married knows, those are two different worlds. When you listen to Viking players talk about this you can see it in their eyes and hear it in their voices. JA started off light-hearted about it, but as the weeks progressed and still no Favre, you could see it bothering him more and more.A team needs a leader just like a kid needs a father. That Father figure is supposed to be Childress, but by pursuing Favre how he has he can no longer be that figure for this team. His authority is gone, and the Harvin ordeal is a great example.Since Childress isn't the leader the old grizzled Favre is, and why not, elder statesman in the league, HOFer, record holder. But he's AWOL. He's the football equivalent of a weekend dad: there some times, not there others. And no one who is there that could be a leader for this team (AP, JA) wants to take charge because weekend Dad could show up any time. This is the second offseason in a row Childress has allowed one player to disrupt their entire camp. He even sent three players down there to essentially beg. Not only is that demeaning to them, it sends a strong message to the team: Practice doesn't matter, camp doesn't matter, your progress doesn't matter. All that matters is getting #4 under center.I am placing my chips down that no team can undergo that complete lack of leadership, open double standards, and general lack of discipline and direction and put together back-to-back deep playoff runs. With or without Favre, the Vikes finish 8-8 or thereabouts, Favre retires (again) without winning a Superbowl away from the Pack, and Childress gets deservedly fired at the end of the season. Management should be on the street to for allowing this situation to continue./Rant.

I just think it's an overreaction to one subpar game where the QB has hardly had any time to get himself in game shape and develop a rapport with his receivers. Vjax's demands have thus far been enough to scare off the Rams and the Raiders who have far worse situations at WR. Heck, look at the Bears. Their receivers SUCK compared to the Vikes. I know this because the best receiver we've had in 8 years is your WR3.
