Vick Owners & your back up QB Situation (1 Viewer)

If you own Vick how are you handling your back up QB going forward? Given his style this is something that could be important to get right. Obviously you were been using 1 or 2 other QBs while he was out, which will remain on your roster as you prepare your roster for the stretch run? (Or which would you'd you prefer)

[*]Is Kolb still a must own? He's been up and down when he's had the chance to play, but has looked quite good at points. He has a lot of weapons but also has some tough games down the stretch so he might not be an every week start.

[*]Are you carrying a back up from a different team? QB you drafted, who wasn't quite good enough to trade away? Your by week/injury replacement?

[*]Are you going out of your way to carry both Kolb and extra QB depth? Do you have both but are looking to move the other? If you're keeping 3+, how many bench spots do you have?

I went with both, just don't want to have to deal with bidding for the other anymore if one gets hurt. Kolbs floor is similar to whoever's on the FA, but his ceiling is higher.

If you're thinking about carrying 3 QBs that means you think Kolb might be better than your current backup, so I'd say just go with Kolb.

I originally drafted Kolb, but when he got hurt the first time i picked up Vick immediately. Once Vick won the starting role, i saw that Orton was available, and so i picked up Orton and dropped Kolb. So basically my line of thinking for Vick owners is: if you can find a backup with more potential than Kolb, then pick him up, otherwise just carry Kolb as a backup. Since the by week for Philli is gone, there is little issue with holding Kolb as your backup. The only added positive that picking up another QB gives you is the potential to play matchups, however with as good as Vick is, you would need a very good backup QB to play him over Vick, regardless of the matchup. With Orton, there may be a case when i would play Orton over Vick, but they are very few and far inbetween. There is no way in hell i would carry 3 QBs on 1 roster. 2 is the max, and with Vick, you really do need 2, Vick and a backup. If you pick Kolb or another, it really depends on who you rate higher. There aren't many QBs available on the wires that are better than Kolb, i think Orton is one of them, and that's why i picked him instead of Kolb to be my backup. In my other league however, i couldn't find anyone better than Kolb, so Kolb is my backup to Vick.

Had Rothlisberger, but just traded him for Kolb, so now it's just Kolb as the backup. I think he'll do better than Big Ben if Vick goes down.

I waited on QB and drafted Cutler. He was good for a few weeks, but started Vick right away when healthy. Was great until hurt, then picked up Hill, then Kitna for a week, now back to Vick.

Rolling with Vick/Cutler the rest of the way hoping I don't have to start the latter.

I would think that many of us with Vick have great backup situations, as Vick wasn't drafted as a starter or backup, but was an in season waiver wire pickup. Unless you had Romo, Stafford, poor draft or the like, you should have a preseason fantasy QB1, or at least QB2. Right now I have a 1a 1b with Vick and E. Manning.

I guess I'm rolling with Vick and have roethlisberger as his backup. I started with Roeth and Stafford and went to Hasselbeck for 1 week and then grabbed Vick off of waivers. At this point I don't plan on trading for Kolb but I may consider making an offer.

In the only league that I own Vick I also have Kitna and Bradford. I dropped Kolb for Kitna when I saw that Vick was coming back.

Drafted Kolb as my starting QB. Started 0-1 in part because he left the first game with a concussion. Picked up Vick off the WW with the first pick. I added Fitzpatrick a couple weeks ago.

I drafted Ryan as my late QB pick in my 6 pt TD ppr league and snagged Vick off the WW. Vick is my starter, Ryan is my backup.

I would trade Ryan before the deadline just to amp up another position, but I like the insurance of having Ryan on my bench since Vick has already gone down once.

Plus I'm an ATL fanboy.

If I did not own Ryan, I'd proably pick up Kolb as my backup... pending there were no better options out there as a FA.

Went with Eli and Big Ben as QBs. Got Vick just before he was injured. Now I have all three and am actively trying to trade Ben.

I had Romo & Stafford (hence my extra motivation for the question). I traded for Vick before Sunday's game and added Kolb for extra insurance in his first start. So I had 3 for one week, but I cant really use 3 roster spots. So now I'm trying to weigh Kolb vs other available back ups.

1. Would not mind having Kolb.

2. Have Rothlisberger.

3. Would like to trade him then backfill with Kolb.

Drafted Kolb and Stafford (that went well). Picked up Vick as soon as Kolb was injured and then dropped Kolb. Once Vick was hurt, Kolb was already picked up so I was struggling with spot starts (Freeman and Garrard). Picked up Fitzpatrick as my permanent backup the rest of the season. If Vick goes down again, going to hope Fitz can put up decent numbers.

Drafted Ryan and McNabb. Picked up Vick. All 3 currently rostered. Would probably drop McNabb if there was anything at all on the WW anymore.

I am trying to trade Brady and will go with Young, Hill or Kolb.

Still need to figure that one out, but point is that yes I feel the need to have 2 QB's and no I don't mind it (I never do it but I would just be filling the spot with an extra DST or WR 5 or the like.

Had Orton as my backup, but just packaged him in a trade for T.O. . Picked up Shaun Hill as my backup over Kolb (who is also available on the ww)

no, but with vicks inj histoy and how many hits he takes I could see givving him a spot. I have not.

[*]Are you carrying a back up from a different team? QB you drafted, who wasn't quite good enough to trade away? Your by week/injury replacement? o vick fell in my lap. In one league i have a rogers and vick another vick brady cutler. both keeper leagues and no one willing to offer enough value tpry vick from me.

honestly who knows. is kevin kolb better than hill/sanchez/pennington? maybe a little? I value roster space more.

I have Vick in two 2QB leagues, so obviously I have at least one other.

I have a 3rd in both but neither is Kolb, I don't consider him a "must own" but he's owned by other teams and I hadn't considered trading for him, but I might if I can trade my 3rd for Kolb+

A: Vick, Rivers, VY

B: Vick, Brees, Freeman

Drafted Kolb.

Picked up Vick.

Grabbed Kitna for bye week filler.

Going to drop Kitna on Saturday.

Will roll with Vick/Kolb for the remainder of the year.

Drafted Eli and Stafford. Picked up Vick and dropped Stafford. When Vick got hurt, picked up Freeman as a spot starter for Eli's bye week. Dropped Freeman after Eli's/Philly's bye week. Now rolling with Vick and Eli. Have thought about trading Eli, but will probably stick with both on my roster just on the off chance Vick gets hurt.

Don't forget we (Vick owners) are getting some rushing yardage and TDs out of Vick, which Kolb will not give you. That's why my back-up is Freeman, not Kolb. Whoever the Eagles have in the line-up also has to change other teams game planning against the Eagles. Shouldn't a handcuff be someone you expect to replace the value/production of the original player and never skip a beat? I don't see Kolb as a true handcuff, if you can even talk about it that way with QBs.

At one point this year, I had Cutler, Kolb, Stafford & Cassel on my dynasty squad.

I needed the roster space and with Stafford playing well and so much uncertainty around Kolb, I dropped Cassel & Kolb.

Now with Stafford down again, I've picked Cassel back up, but Kolb is still a free agent. This is a 12 team IDP dynasty league, but roster space is at a premium with injuries and byes. After this week, I may pick Kolb back up for the rest of the year....especially if I decide to IR Stafford.

I drafted Kolb and Stafford, then picked up Vick and Hill. Right now I see no need to have anyone besides Vick/Kolb. Best QB on the WW is Bradford

drafted ryan and kolb, got vick in a trade before he became the official full-time starter. currently have vick/ryan/freeman and would love to trade the latter two but no one wants to give anything up and i'm not GIVING either one away, so i can live with ryan as my backup.

Drafted Stafford/Eli Manning/Cutler. Picked up Vick and waived Stafford after week 1. Made a trade to acquire Cassel for week 9 as Vick/E.Manning/Cutler all had week 9 byes. Traded Cutler for Kolb straight up. Now looking to trade Cassel. Hope to end with E. Manning/Vick/Kolb for my Championship push. :lmao:
