Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (21 Viewers)

I like it too, however EA really screwed the pooch on this one. They are now charging to use online service. If you wish to go online you have to enter a code on the back of the manual. If you buy a used copy, expect to shell out another $10 just to play it online. Not to mention the fact that the THQ servers were down so you couldn't play it online anyways. I don't think I'll ever buy another EA game again.
THIS IS BRAND NEW INFORMATION!!!12

No need to yell. If you already knew about it, good for you
What jhuber said. I know it's way tame for most boards, but we try to be a little cooler to each other here. It's definitely not for everyone so no worries if this board isn't for you.J

Just played the first few levels of Lost Planet 2. Save your time and money, I'm glad I got it through goozex. I'm a huge fan of co-op games and this has 4 player co-op. The problem is it felt lifeless and had no personality. It was just walk a little, kill, walk really slow to the next spot, kill some more. You would think that capcom would learn from there mistakes and fix the major flaws of the first game when building the second. Basically they made it prettier and added needless tedious parts. The controls are still the clunky and awkward pos of the first one. They have eight different button configs, but they only rotate small things that don't matter and don't focus on changing the actual control schemes. Story is ho-hum, but who expects much from that in this game. The music is great when it plays, but the game is silent for the majority of the time and when it does blast the tunes. It overdoes it and makes it so you can't hear any friends, sound effects, or dialog. Big disappointment. Some people may consider the going from point A to point B killing stuff similar to say Borderlands. But Borderlands had the fun IT factor and character interaction, this has the Snooze factor.
 I'll only finish LP2 so I can get Marcus and Dom from GOW unlocked.

Man, backbreaker is a total letdown. Playing on defense is ####### awful.
Game was terrible for a football game in production for so long. Tecmo Bowl Throwback looks like a full $60 title in comparision.
I haven't played a whole lot of the demo, but I went through training camp and had some fun.Madden is not a challenge for me anymore, so it's nice to see something different. Not perfect, but makes you feel more immersed in the action.Maybe I'll change my mind when I play it more, but I've liked the demo so far.

I'm gonna give the finished product a chance. Perhaps what I've seen on the demo won't be the better part of the game.

is gears of war 2 or GTA 4 worth playing? I'm only interested in the campaign mode.
Gears' campaign is meh, it's decent but you may want to just rent it. It's primarily a multiplayer game.GTA 4 has quite a bit of gameplay for single player campaign. If you liked any of the other games in the series, you'll like it too.

I can't comment on Gears (I'm a PS3 guy), but GTA 4 is definitely worth playing, espcially since you can probably get it deeply discounted. It got to be sort of a grind 2/3 or so of the way through because it seemed like you keep doing the same linear, checkpointless missions over and over again, but it's not a bad game by any means and is a no-brainer if you like other games in the series.

Bought a copy of Alan Wake at the same time I bought Red Dead. Haven't even opened Alan Wake yet, so I can't give an opinion. :bag:

Just DL'd Snoopy's Flying Aces for my 8yr old on the 360. He (I) freakin love it so far. Great music, cartoonish graphics, kid friendly, and awesome sound effects.

Highly recommended.

 :blackdot:

I finally got 100% on RDR so I started up Alan Wake. My first impression is that maybe Alan Wake isn't the best game to jump to after playing what is quite likely going to be the game of the year in RDR. I'm through the first two chapters so far and while it's a decent story the gameplay is fairly long and dull. At this point I couldn't recommend paying full price for it.

I have never played a game where much of the action is viewed using a flashlight. I don't know if that's the case in Alan Wake, but they sure lead me to believe that from all the vids.

Just finished Red Dead Redemption yesterday..now on to finish Lost Planet 2 (begrudgingly) just so I can get Marcus and Dom unlocked.

RDR was one of the most epic games I've ever played. Great story, great gameplay, all in all just a lot of fun!

I'm almost done with Darksiders, maybe I'll finish that when I'm :goodposting: with LP2 - which could be early and often.

I've played and beaten (and greatly enjoyed) both. GOW2 for the 360, obviously, and GTA IV for the PS3.Depends on what kind of game you're looking for. Both have very cool campaigns, but are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. Gears is a standard "straight line" shooter - great shooting dynamics and gameplay, but extremely linear. If you're looking for a competitive third-person shooter, it's great. GTA IV has a lot more exploration, and it's a sandbox game - as you already know - so it's a lot less linear. But the shooting dynamics and gameplay are significantly weaker than Gears. If you're only going to be playing single-player, GTA IV is probably the better bet. It will keep you interested longer, and you can decide to quit the storyline altogether and just **** around if you so desire.

Earthworm Jim HD will be available on XBLA this week. I'm currently playing Split/Second for a few days. It's an extremely fun arcade racer. I think I may try Blur out sometime soon to compare.

Only insane is hard. If you play co-op it is MUCH easier than non co-op in any difficulty.

Please note which you like better and what not, please. I'm curious about these as well.

Best Buy is selling Splinter Cell: Conviction for $39.99 (reg. $59.99). I picked it up although stealth games aren't usually my thing.

T-r-U has buy one, get one 40% off going now. Grabbed Split/Second (racing) and Rock Band Green Day.

For everyone stuck at work (or anywhere else) and want to stream or keep up with E3 coverage, check out the following sites.

IGN - Streaming Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo Conferences, news updates, etc

GameTrailers - Streaming coverages, news, exclusive game trailers, etc.

Finally started Metal Gear 4 and it is visualy one of if not the most impressive games thus far I have played (other than The Show) on the system.

The gameplay is just like the other classics in the series. I am only 10% in but I am enjoying the heck out of it. All the familar faces are back....seems like old friends now.

This series is an aquired taste for sure.

After I finsh this one (probably in the next month or so) I will move on to Dead Space, then Bio Shock.

For those of us who can't keep up w/ the E3 news, if anyone hears anything big, please post in here, thanks!
Will do. :kicksrock: The only big event that's happened so far was the Microsoft Kinect (formerly known as Natal) presentation, which was done by Cirque du Soleil. I only got to read write-ups of what happened and they don't sound very interesting, but you can see it for yourself Tuesday, June 15, at 3:30PM on MTV and at 9PM on Nick at Nite, MTVu, MTV Hits, and Logo. I have my Tivo set to record, so we'll see if it looks as uninteresting as it reads.

Did anyone else pick up UFC 2010? I've got it in my hot little hands but I won't have time to play til this weekend.
:hey: I like it. A big improvement over last year's game.
I can't beat Stephen Bonnar on career mode. :bag:Have you set up an online camp?
The in game play is way better this year. The online stuff is terrible. Hard to get a game in the non ranked and impossible in the ranked.Read on their forums they are making a patch to fix it. But its been pushed out to atleast next week.

Trying to find some games I can play with my 10yo son on XBox this summer. Any thoughts on the following?

-Best soccer game (I've seen FIFA and a World Cup game)

-Blur vs. Split Second

-Best basketball game

Anything else that would be be good for both a 10yo and his dad, preferably something that we can play together (either co-op or against each other)?

There are some amazing deals on XBLA games this week and next - Trials HD is 50% off, 'Splosion Man, same. Shadow Complex same. Next week a whole lot more.

Played Split/Second a couple of weeks ago and it was a great arcade racer. A lot of fun, but almost too easy to play, which can be a good thing and a bad thing. I'll be playing Blur this week, so check back in at the end of the week for my final verdict on that.

Yeah, their forums is full of threads complaining about various exploits and unbalanced gameplay. I haven't gone online other than to DL the TUF characters. And I'll probably stay offline for a while since I can't even submit sucky fighters with my custom guy.
