Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (7 Viewers)

Same here.....tons of backlog to go through. Should keep me busy for another year...maybe 2.

I want to go back and play Fallout 3 again. I never gave that game the full monty like I have with Skyrim. I am finally finishing up Skyrim with my one and only character build.......and I can easily go back with a new build for a second go around....that game is just truly epic.

Steady.......Dark Souls is not my cup of tea......I wanted to destroy my controller too many times. I really gave it a big try.......I just don't have the paitence for al that dying!

The first thing you should always do in Fallout 3 as soon as you get out of the vault is make a beeline for Rivet City to grab the Intelligence bobblehead. Assuming you correctly built your character, you should have 9-10 points in intelligence after this and this gives you more skill points when you level up. Getting the bobblehead early maximizes the points you get.

You're right where you should be:
BTW - I have enjoyed the progression of TxBuckeys journey to addiction of this game. It seems like this is exactly how everyone experiences this game....

Buy game play it... its so hard WTF?

"I tried man, I think this game just isn't for me."

Puts game down

Time passes and the player usually reads about how great the game is and the player wonders what he's missing

Player restarts the game

Player falls head over heals in love with the game.

Player muscles through it and thinks , "Man, Im going to beat this because I love it but no way can I see myself every playing through this again!"

Player beats the game and can't walk away

Player beats the game again and again.

This game is like an old girlfriend who was a complete ##### but the sex was so good you can't walk away.
Put the game down for a bit and come back. Once you figure out a few things , use a few spells and build your character properly the game is borderline easy. I've beat the game 4 times and will like run through it a 5th after I'm finished with DSII. I'm not special and I have an extremely low tolerance for frustration . If I can do it, you can.

I typically do the Wasteland Survival Guide first and then make a beeline for Rivet City. The Rivet City quests are part of my level up quickly start. With all the skill books around, I can make up for the first 3-5 levels before I got the Intelligence Bobblehead pretty easily later in the game.

I did do some pre-play research. I put 9 points in in Intelligence, found Megaton so I could fast travel back and headed to RC for the bobblehead. Swam the whole way. Other than that I have stayed off the character build wikis and Youtubes.

Other guys who played more and likely more recently can comment but IIRC , speech craft and repair were pretty useful for progressing the game.
I heavily invested in repair from the beginning I am about at 82 repair. I have my speech up to about 60 now. Has come in handy as I move along.

I found reaching Rivet City very hard for a new character. Never thought to swim -- good idea.
Only ran into one problem doing the swim. Ran into one centaur in the water but was able to out swim him. Of course the radiation buildup sucks. But that actually helps with the Survival Guide first chapter.

Very smart. I've never done this before. Looks like I have a new wrinkle in my early game strategy now.

On most levels I enjoyed Dragon Age 2 far more than Dragon Age: Origins.

Better mechanics and while the main plot from Origins is better the storytelling and dialogue is better in 2. Apart from Alaister in Origins DA2 is a much funnier game too. I am also glad they gave Hawke a voice unlike the Warden in Origins. I guess the reused maps were a bit dull at times but that didn't bother me too much.

For my money no company puts as much heat, light and energy into video game storytelling as BioWare and I really appreciate that.

I am looking forward to Inquisition.

It did work out well. Looked like the path of least resistance on the map.I saw one guy walk down there on a video and run into a buttload of super mutants with mini-guns and stuff. I knew I didn't like the look of that.

I will say, much like with Skyrim, be careful building up to much before tackling the main story line. Or not, if you like to be super-unbeatable guy. I always end up making the main story boring because I do every side-thing I can before I get to it. And then I am so overpowered it is just ridiculously easy.

It is easy to get carried away with the wandering, I usually do end up overpowered by the time I complete the main story. But I have to admit I do enjoy that whole all but unbeatable thing as well..

If memory serves you should be able to max out every skill by the time you finish the dlc's. Now granted that does remove the idea of character building once you do that but it does have its own level of satisfaction.

Quick Fallout update. I finished the Survival Guide. The last chapter was pretty easy. I think I have finished all the early game missions you can get around Megaton except Them! Keep meaning to take the Entomologist Perk. Guess next level and then I'll do that one. In fact I have been screwing around wandering the wasteland for so long I am level 14 already and still haven't talked to the Doc at Rivet City about my dad. Guess that's next.
If you're at level 14 you can knock out Them! easily even without the Ent perk. There's a nice bonus perk at the end of Them too.

BTW, which SG bonus did you end up with? Now that you're done you'll hear Three Dog pitch (or pan) your guide.

Weird thing about Fallout 3. When I was a low level character I got smashed by a group of fire-breathing ants, I stayed far away from that area for a while but I couldn't find the ants again after I leveled up. Never got my revenge.

Could be one of two things.

There's a couple of areas with fire ants, and after one of the conclusions of Them! most will frenzy on each other.

There's also several areas in FO3 that have "random encounters". These could be anything from a pack of enraged Brahmins (normally peaceful) to roaming Enclave troops. Sometimes they're a few fire ants out of nowhere. If you go back after a long time - or if you replay the game or even restart that event, they won't be there. I wish they had more locations but the variety is good and not always hostile.

True, but the main storyline in these games is often the least interesting thing about them. That's especially true for FO3.

But I know what you mean. I always build the same character in all of these games -- sneaky sniper guy who OHKs everyone with his bow / sniper rifle. By halfway through the game, I'm head-shotting deathclaws like its my job.

I forget which bonus I got right now and it will drive me crazy until I remember.

True it is usually far more fun to just move the main story when you have to and wander around looking for trouble.

I often fall into the sneak-n-snipe routine too. I am making an effort to break from that mold because it often feels game breaking after awhile.

I will sneak/snipe but at the end of the day I am the guns blazing type. I like to wade in and start killing stuff. I try for a relatively agile tank.

Survival Expert was the perk. Also got to hear 3 Dog pimping the Survival Guide, called it a must get. I always wanted to be a best selling author.

Dogmeat and I killed another Behemoth in our wanderings last night. I tried to save Uncle Leo from an Enclave soldier but I was too late. But I did get Tesla power armor and helmet. I guess I am going to have to move the main story line along so I can get power armor training. I got a lot of it in storage and would love to put it to use,

So I notice many of you used dogmeat as your companion. I couldn't keep him alive very well. Are there any tricks to this or just guard him? I always wanted to keep him but couldn't.

Elder Scrolls Online begins this Sunday at 7am EST for pre-orders. And April 4th otherwise.

If anyone is planning on playing, I'll be on the Aldmeri Dominion side of things.

Expecting to power level and jump full tilt into the PvP. (ill post my in game character name after its created)

It's cool to have dogmeat travel with you- but you can pretty much forget about sneaking up on anything. Not only will he charge a yaogwai, but he always seems to be in your line of fire.

Yeah, the Dunwich building alone has a more interesting story and it's not even a quest.

Is A Star Wars Battlefront 3 coming?
Yes. Developed by Dice (Battlefield guys). Due out in 2015.
So it will have a ton of potential but be released too early with a ton of game breaking bugs?
 Dice once had a reputation of putting out a high quality product. Blame being rushed on EA, who will also be publishing Battlefront 3. Considering Battlefront has always been a straight Star Wars clone of Battlefield, I think it's fitting.

Long story short, I purchased two copies of Dark Souls II. (XBOX360)

If anyone would like to buy my opened copy I'll sell it to a FBG for $45 - includes shipping.

Just PM me.

I haven't taken any special precautions. When we took down that behemoth DM was getting whaled on the whole time and came out fine. I have grenaded him, shot him and land mined him(all on accident of course) and he has come through fine. I have stimpacked him twice so far but he seems to recover really quickly left to his own devices. Can't tell you how many times I have been attacked by multiple people or mutants and he kills as many as I do. At the end of it I seem worse for wear than him. DM is all that. I will take the puppy perk when I get there just in case though.

Yeah but the flip side of that is he often warns me of incoming before they show on the radar thing. Many times his growling has saved me from something I had no idea was there. Now there have been times I make him wait. Like when I did the Mirelurk run for the Survival Guide. I had him stay outside. If I hadn't I would have had to kill everything in the place.

All this talk of fallout and older games always makes me want to do more video game drafts just to reminisce about games and go into nostalgia while researching and learning about new ones. :/

My biggest gripe was with Fawkes. The guy is a super mutant. Hes immune to rads. So in the original ending when I told him to go into the chamber and turn the switch, why did he say "I wouldn't dream of stealing your moment." Dude wtf? I'm not immune to rads. You are! Go in ####### and turn the switch.

That bothered me too. One of the DLCs fixed this, but I played it prior to any DLC and I thought that would've been the perfect ending.
