Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (4 Viewers)

So early game FO:3, where's a good place to find ammo? I can't use my sniper rifle or Chinese Assault Rifle because I have no ammo for them. I'm stuck trying to use the Hunting Rifle and the 10mm Pistol. I didn't finish the Wasteland Survival Guide yet, got bored with it. Sitting in Rivet City after doing the Fire Ant quest.
Scavenge everything. Trash cans, boxes, bodies. Ammo usually adds up.

And it's been a long time but IIRC, ammo was semi plentiful in 10 mm but not so much in all other calibers. Especially at the start.

Yep, that's what I am finding. Was able to get a good supply of assault rifle ammo on the carrier though. Sniper rifle is like emergency use only.

Pick up everything that has value - especially stuff with no weight (drugs, meds, ammo you don't need, etc) - and make stops at ammo traders, Ammo is the one thing worth spending caps on.

Ammo dealers in Megaton, Rivet City, Tennpenny Tower, Meresti station, Paradise Falls, Little Lamplight, Underworld, random traders, and the caravans. You can bump up the caravan inventory in Canterbury Commons. I'm missing a few locations.

You can also trade tech (energy weapons, power armor, etc) to Casdin at Fort independence for 5.56 ammo and grenades.

Finished up Uncharted... it got better but still a small disappointment. 6/10.

I started playing Heavy Rain - really early in and not much has happened, but its a cool concept. My only real problem is I don't like shaking the controller up and down or side to side. I don't want to flail my arms around, just let me punch buttons.

So the wasteland is getting aqua pura now. But I felt kind of ticked off when the big cut scene happened. I have wandered the wastelands saving people and towns. If it weren't for me risking life and limb there would be no pure water. And because I made the smart command decision it paints me as almost a coward? Oh yeah sending in the guy the radiation can't hurt, and even heals him, instead of killing one of the two of us was definitely about not being heroic. I mean you know in the end I am glad Fawkes got some credit. Good for him. I wish they had tossed DM a bone as well. But just the way it was done was insulting.

You may be a nerd if a cutscene ticks you off.

So I got over being in a huff and moved on. That robot was pretty cool. And I am now level 21. I bought the two expansions that allowed you more levels when I got the game. I am working the Brotherhood story line for now and am on my way to get a Tesla Cannon apparently.

So I had a really low key weekend with little to do. Should have gone seen Winter Soldier apparently. But instead I decided to try out Borderlands 2. It's not bad but I already played Serious Sam. Wacky isn't that surprising to me. I was really hoping for kind of next gen Sam, not quite there. I only played through to level 5 though so I will be giving it more of a chance later. I am thinking the game is probably at it's best in online play with others. I don't really do that much.

Yeah it's the reason I hadn't picked up previously. But I saw some single player action and it looked good so I went for it. I would play with guys from here but I am not feeling playing with some snot nose 9 year old with a foul mouth.

Since I was sick on the couch the past three days, I played through Metro: Last Light on "easy".

I thought it was a pretty good game. The mood is good. The graphics are really good, The controls are tight. Would be quite challenging on higher difficulty levels, I would think.

The story is just so-so. Quite European, if you know what I mean.

Worth a playthrough for sure, IMO.

It looks pretty cool. I am definitely intrigued by it.

I do wish I'd have played through Metro 2033, though. They do a decent job of linking the stories together between the games, but there are definitely gaps.

I'm part way through a playthrough of Metro 2033 before I play Last Light. So far the story hasn't grabbed me and I feel like it's a grind. I'll go back to it eventually.

Right now it's just ok to me. I mean nothing like FO3 as far grabbing me and making it must play. We'll see. Maybe I'll change character class and see if that spices it up. I really think I won't "get it" unless I get some online play going and that isn't really my thing.

Didn't realize this was coming out this week - RBI Baseball is back

I'm pretty juiced about this. Loved the old RBI games, and have definitely fallen into that "old gamer" thing where the newer baseball games are just too complicated for me to bother with (I feel the same about basketball and hockey games as well - football is the only one that is accessible to me).

Side note from this, I decided to play my nephew in NBA2k14. This is the first basketball game I've played since like 2005. The controls are impossible to pick up without consulting the manual and then playing at least 4 or 5 games to get a feel for them. Nothing is intuitive. Something as simple as shooting feels like such a chore. Guarding, blocking, stealing, rebounding all felt so cumbersome. Like trying to coax a bull into sewing a sweater.

I'm certain its possible to play the game as my 12 year old nephew has picked it up and played it for months but I don't remember sports games being this overbearing in regards to controling the player.

I feel the same way with the show 12. I don't like having to set the game on easy to make it playable. Hitting is impossible to me. Again I'm sure with about 2 or 3 weeks of play I could get it but I should be able to hit a baseball on a basic level within the first hour or 2 right?

Probably why I don't play sports games anymore.

Did everyone buy Last Light on sale last week?

I like it a lot so far and I think the story is interesting enough, I like that there are so many factions within the human societies on top of the monsters crawling throughout the landscape.

2033 is definitely clunkier and I thought the controls were, at times, confusing (e.g. I never had a clue which ammo went with which weapon or which weapons were superior to others).

Still it is a solid FPS.

BL2 is hilarious from start to finish. It truly shines in the co-op mode but either way it is a fun, fun game.

It has it's moments but I wouldn't go that far. As I said so far I would say Serious has done this version of the genre better but it's early.

It was a free download from PS Plus.

Blows my mind that anyone could see SS as even in the same stratosphere as BL2.
Blows my mind you can't.SS was supposed to be fun and irreverent with lots of guns. I was hooked from the opening cut scene. Not seeing what makes BL2 anything special in my first 3-4 hours with the game. Now that may be because it is more for team play than single player or it may grow on me as I go but I don't see where it has done anything groundbreaking here.

PS is definitely killing the free download game at this point.

twins...

What sets BL2 apart is the loot and the depth that aspect adds to the game. It's more like a Diablo game in that respect than a FPS.

If you go in expecting just a lot of zany antics and stuff blowing up everywhere like in Serious Sam, you may be disappointed.

It's not the same type of game.

Same here. borderlands solo is way better imo. In coop it's not even a discussion.

I'm going to do this after I finish Fallout 3 again (well, completely this time).

I have all but four achievements unlocked in New Vegas. Looks like I will be completing at least three of those when I fire NV up again.

Going to have to strenuously disagree. But that's why there is more than one game after all.

Have you watched the clips they use to sell this game? It's all zany and stuff blowing up everywhere.

So to move off my blasphemy about BL2. Ran into a little unmarked town in my wanderings last night. Andale. Place was crawling with cannibals. I picked my first pocket while there to get the key to the basement. So after discovering their operation I go back outside. Now there is a couple of guys with small guns and a woman with a knife waiting for me. We go back and forth and inevitably it gets to me telling them it's over. So they tell me " Well I guess we know what we are eating tonight". I was like really? Do you see the heavily armed big green guy with the itchy trigger finger standing behind me? I chuckled and then we killed them all of course.

Only thing I felt bad about after that was speaking to the grandpop and kids. The son was like "have you seen my dad? He said he'd be right back."

I picked up Borderlands 1 to play solo based on the hype in this thread at the time and it is one of the few bad recommendations I have received from this board. I didn't play it coop so I can't judge that experience, but it's only interesting solo if you are fascinated by the diablo style random loot generation.

Weird. The son called me his hero and said he wanted to be like me.

Same here. I'm open to the suggestion that co-op is fun, but SP just sucked.

I think they are talking about BL1, and I don't disagree with them. And I don't think anyone is saying BL2 isn't at it's best during co-op because it is, however BL2 SP is also a blast. I fail to see how the SP gameplay is markedly different than (i.e. inferior to) any one of the dozens of SP FPS games out there.

I was screwing around on the PS3 yesterday and decided to mess around a little with the Diablo 3 demo. Ended up playing it for almost two hours and I still haven't finished the thing yet. I passed on this when it launched on consoles the first time because I figured the PS4/XB1 versions would be out by now. How the hell does this still not have a release date? Yes, I know about the expansion, but the new consoles are allegedly pretty easy to port to from the PC.

Again it doesn't suck but so far I haven't been grabbed. And I don't think the game play, so far, has lived up to the advertisements But I haven't even gotten off the glacier yet. So I am going to give it some more time and see how it goes. Who knows another few hours in and I may be totally hooked.

I personally hate Borderlands when playing solo. With friends, they are fantastic.

BL2 never really grabbed me either. But I had a problem with the way they did the motion in that game, it gave me actual headaches so I couldn't play for any long stretches.

It is true that BL absolutely comes to life during co-op, BL2 is the best co-op FPS ever and one of the best co-op games in general. What I am not understanding is what are the specific shortcomings during single player? I think the game play itself is very fluid so what is the problem with SP?

For NC it seems story driven, I totally get it when a game doesn't grab you (I actually felt the same way about Serious Sam, which I intend to revisit eventually).

I think it's more of Blizzard releases games when they are complete. They don't care about other peoples time tables and when something "should" be out, they just release stuff when they deem it up to their standards. I love/hate this because they make amazing games but they take forever to release.
