Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (4 Viewers)

So, what's the problem with wearing a headset?
Apparently it means you're not cool or secure with yourself, I'm not sure. When playing with a group of my friends online I tried telepathy but that didn't work .
Relax people. In my experience the chatter over the headset was nothing but trash. I said that if you have friends or a clan or whatever, it's probably different. If you like the headset that's cool, but I was giving a perspective where some old people (like me) are turned off by it. I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with a headset.

I play games with a headset. Not always as I'm a bachelor living alone but you can find yourself more immersed in a game if reality is a little farther away.

But I am a dork, so there is that.

:lmao: I know man, it's cool. I was just being a sarcastic ****. And you're not wrong, when i was younger I was pretty bad myself when it came to talking smack.

I've got a headset on now as a matter of fact.

The FBI guy was a fraternity brother, and I mentioned it in passing because I told the guy I was going to (mainly trying to scare him off, which worked). My son doesn't play online in general but I let him in this case because it was a "private" server.

Yes, I fully realize I'm a dork for playing PC games with a headset :)

Sorry for the hijack
I don't play online but I used a headset on PC. Better sound and more immersive. FEAR was killer in a dark room with headset on.
Speaking of this, anyone looking at Daylight? Looks pretty good for $10 (out end of April)

Well I know you guys are on the edge of your seat for my weekend Fallout report. I think I found the glitchiest place in the game. It was some set of sewers I stumbled onto in DC downtown area. Sorry I forgot the name. So I get in, I'm killing stuff and finding mostly low level loot but there are a lot of combat shotguns. Which is great Terrible Shotguns don't repair themselves after all. So it seems like a nice little loot jaunt on my way to Tepid. Name a glitch and it happened here. Fall through the floor? Yep. Glitch after opening a door? Yep. Glitch during a firefight(which was actually pretty interesting graphically)? Oh yeah. Glitch for no seeming reason? Yep even one of those. Finally I went back to the save I made when I came through the door and got the heck out. Wasn't worth it. Very frustrating for a game to be this old and still have these problems.

Anyway I wandered and killed and collected for a while. Now I am doing what I think is the last of the main story. I started in Tepid on my way Andrews. Man this is a long slog with lots of tunnel changes. About halfway through but at least I got the robots to back off.
I like your Fallout3 updates, NCC. After the first couple, I had to fire up Fallout again and traverse the Capital Wasteland again. What platform are you playing on? I am playing on the PC and while I've had a couple of glitches, I have never seen anything like you describe above. I'm surprised that they haven't taken care of these by now.
Fallout3 is the game I enjoyed the most by a large margin. Next in line is FF7.

So I thought I was finishing the main story line but I was actually doing the Broken Steel DLC. Pretty intense firefights. Enough Enclave for everyone to get their kill on and I still picked up plenty of XP. Is it me or is the Tesla Cannon thing a little disappointing? I mean I was thinking one shotting at least soldier types but wasn't the case at all. I was doing better using weapons I already had. But calling in the artillery strikes was pretty cool. So I am now just into wandering stage. I have Those! left to do but then I am clear. I expect I'll find lots of other side mission trouble in the Wasteland.

I do have one other DLC loaded, Point Lookout. But I am putting off playing that for right now. I was thinking about picking up a couple of the other DLC titles as they are essentially 1.00 right now on Xbox. Which ones do you guys suggest?

I have all the DLC for Fallout 3 and NV.

Point Lookout: Another good DLC, decent mix of story, environment, and new gear.

Operation Anchorage: The story and gameplay are pretty meh, but you get some great gear out of that one.

The Pitt: Probably my favorite of the DLCs after Broken Steel, good story and game play in this one.

Mothership Zeta: I never got into it as much, but probably because it was the least "Fallout" like. You're on an advanced alien spacecraft, it just turned into another shooter at that point.

FF7 is my all-time favorite

The FO:NV DLC in Zions National Park was pretty cool, especially if you have been there before.

Yeah I was thinking Operation Anchorage and The Pitt. I may still get Zetta just for completeness but I have read a couple of times it's kind of meh.

After looking at videos, costs, and a few reviews I think I'm going to purchase Armored Core V and see what it leads to.

If anyone can think of any other mech type games please let me know. I have a Pacific Rim addict so that is the game I need. No blood, no really bad language if possible and just a lot of mechs fighting and blowing stuff up. I am getting bored of Tomb Raider. The graphics are beautiful and the story is sort of compelling, but it's just getting repetitive. I have 15-20 hours of gameplay so far and I'm still not finished with it (normal difficulty and not too many deaths). I remember feeling the same about Uncharted 3. You can only do so much jumping/climbing and firefights before you get to  .

You should be nearing the end of it.

Thanks, I hope so... I am just about to take the PT boat upriver to try stopping the storms over the island.

My griping aside, I'm optimistic about the next installment in the series. I never really bought into the trapped on a cooky island premise. I think this type of game benefits from some globe trotting like the old Tomb Raider and Uncharted games.

Been playing CIV5 with all expansions. Playing as Korea for the first time. Science from every Specialist Great Person improvement makes for a strong civ, especially if you are good at specializing cities. I never knew - it's almost overpowered.

Anybody played the Word of Warcraft mod? Gets good feedback. I might give it a try next.

I bought the ultimate edition of FO3 that had all the DLC loaded.

I did Operation Anchorage early before moving the story along to get some pretty nice gear to get me started. The Pitt is pretty wild and fun. Point Lookout is...creepy and strange; just a totally different kind of environment. I liked Zeta because of the weaponry you can get, but you're right, it feels very tacked on to the rest of the story. and Zeta was super glitchy for me.

I've noticed in some of the YouTube videos this seems to be common. People are wearing armor that seems to take very little damage and stuff like that early in the main story. I am kind of glad I didn't go that way first time through. I usually deserved to die when I did. Although you always hate to see yourself blown across the screen missing a leg or something.

I never used any of the super heavy armor because I was playing a more stealthy type guy. but the Chinese stealth armor was cash early on. combine that with a silenced gun and I could quietly take out a whole tribe of those mohawked idiots.

Hey can I take Dogmeat to Point Lookout? It seems like I can't take my supermutant buddy which is fine but I have grown very used to DM sensing stuff before I do. His growling has come in handy more than once.

If memory serves, Dogmeat can only go to Broken Steel. There is a perk in Broken Steel you might like if you enjoy Dogmeat, called Puppies. Dogmeat will wait for you outside vault 101 while you go to other dlc's.

Finally signed up for PS+. Downloaded Castle of Illusions for my son (some Mickey Mouse game) for free and paid $12 for Lego lord of the Rings for PS3! Any thing else worth my effort. I just got my PS4 too

Yeah I may take that one along the way I do like my boy DM. Anyway I went ahead and bought the rest of the DLCs. At 1.24 a piece I figured can't really go wrong. I am off tomorrow and I think I'll start with Operation Anchorage.

So, what's the problem with wearing a headset?
Apparently it means you're not cool or secure with yourself, I'm not sure. When playing with a group of my friends online I tried telepathy but that didn't work .
if you have a team, a headset can be a huge advantage. i don't see an issue, but if you are playing random, you have to listen to a lot of strutting, cursing, and it WILL erode your faith in humanity.

just know that Trenched, like Toy Soldiers, is a glorified tower defense game. I happen to enjoy them, but tower defense seems to be a hot or cold issue for many.

I haven't heard much talking on Titanfall on XB1... is that specific to this game or has the random chatter generally dissipated from what it was like 5-6 years ago on the COD games?

i haven't played titanfall, so i don't know the mechanics.

i can tell you that when I've played with friends in online shooters where we have to coordinate attacks, I've always scored much better. plus it's more fun. otherwise voice chat it's really just another way to be horrible to people.

I haven't heard much talking on Titanfall on XB1... is that specific to this game or has the random chatter generally dissipated from what it was like 5-6 years ago on the COD games?
i haven't played titanfall, so i don't know the mechanics.

I've noticed that the amount of inane babble has declined dramatically over the years. I wear my headset whenever I am gaming. Multiplayer or not. I run into very little chatter. When I do its some idiot playing music into his headset or some guy who has the volume up so high on his TV that his mic is picking it up. I can always go in and mute them if it gets to be too much.

This. Most people roll in party chat now if they are alone or with others.

Anyone else excited for OOTP 15 tomorrow? :shakesheadupanddown:
that the baseball sim? Didn't they stop making that for awhile?
Yup and nope.

Is that similar to MicroLeague Baseball? Man, I ran a couple of leagues of that game on my Apple IIc in HS and my freshman year at BYU. :nerd:

Loved me some Microleague.
Think of it as a better, more flexible Football Manager that allows you to play historic, make believe, or current teams. It also includes the full minor leagues and 7 international leagues.

Basically, if you're into baseball stats and/or sims, it gets no better.

Been playing this since about OOTP8. Love creating and playing purely fictional leagues.

The 3D aspect for OOTP 15 is delayed. But that's not why people play the game anyway. Really excited that the spring training aspect is being improved.

Anyone else enjoy the Lego games? I know they're for kids but I really liked the LOTR games and now I'm enjoying the Batman 2 game. I like the simplicity and the humor.

Got the Marvel one for $5 on Steam. I've only put in an hour, but it's just as enjoyable as the rest.
