Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (5 Viewers)

Did some work last night.

Started the game from the last save point which was at my megaton crib in the middle of the find the family mission. So went back to the train depot to find the family. Did that. Talked to vampire dude. Conviced the kid to go home, got he vampire dude to give me the blood drinking power and got the town to make a deal with the vampires. Town gave me a bottle of scotch. Woo-hoo. So that entire mission got completed. Rather dull and uninteresting. I'm beginning to think I should just go bad karma and steal everything I can and kill everyone I can. Maybe in another go around.

After that I had my choice of several missions. I chose to find that Bily kid's dad. So, yup - the ant mission. Kill the ants. Whatever it was called. Oh my effing gawd are those things beyond annoying. You know a video game hit some kind of nerve when you enjoy killing the enemy more than you really should. Cleaned out the town. Took a ton of ammo. Searched the properties and got all the goodies. Then made my way into the underground to kill the nest. Found the doctor. And the panty/nighties (what the heck with that?). Talked the hitman out of taking the panties (again, WTF?) and then went on the search and destroy for the ant colony. It took every ounce of my fake video game indignation to not kill the queen ant. But I didn't. Used up almost all ammo of many different kids clearing out that entire mission. Finally got it done. Took the super power ant perception power. And then I had to find the kid a new home. Went to Rivet City and frankly got annoyed trying to find one specific person on that darn boat so I quit at that point.

But not before accidentally stealing something in front of a security guard and getting into an all out shootout with a fricken army over a piece of glass. Yeah, negative karma stuff sucks too. Eh, what can you do.

Still having fun. Good game.
where does this one start?

I never discovered the panties thing  I wonder how much I am missing.

Right now I am in a love/hate relationship with the loot system. Mostly hate. The time it takes to scour through garbage is kind of a downer. I mean, I am literally playing a game that involves picking through the trash for stuff.

on the upside, I drank from a urinal the other night. that's a video game first.
Find the family is the end part of the Arefu story line. Girl in Megaton gives you a letter to deliver to her family in Arefu. You go there. Other missions ensue from that. From what I gather, the whole entire point of that side mission is to discover one train station, learn how to not get your leg ripped off by bear traps you can't see and get some super power to be able to drink blood.
The Families store is a good trading spot for the region. The main vampire also has the badest specialty sword if you like killing some things (rad roaches, etc) without using up ammo.

FO3 update...

Found little Billy a home at Rivet City. So that mission is done.

Next one tackled. .... library for survival guide. Walked there along the water from megaton. Overall not a hard mission. Went into the whole library to find the electric archive as well so loaded up on goodies and dead Raiders.

Finished that and figured I would complete the guide so went to RobCo. That bear thing was a bitc.....

I kind of saw that mission coming. Way too easy. When the robots woke up I was a killing machine. But the game froze on me for some reason. Really annoying. Soo much energy cells wasted. I restarted it from the moment I woke up the robots and figured let me hack the system. Did that so that turned them off. So not a killing machine... Walked right past them.... done back to moira here's your book.

I get to shoot her at some point, right?

Allergies killing me so I had some down time. Moved very far along. Got the declaration.... Got dad dead. Killed a whole host of various things. Got to the pentagon.

I'm sure there are more side missions but I don't have any possible right now. Just got the paladin chick to be my companion and am leaving the Pentagon for vault 87somesuch. ..

I like having a private suite atop the Washington monument. Pretty cool. Stored some stuff there. I'm either level 13 or 14 at this point so I'm a bad emmereffer.

Love.... and I mean love the combat shotgun to the back of the head with a stealthboy active. Awesome graphics.

Got into vault 87. Got captured.

Please tell me that I meet up again with that paladin chick that is holding all my stuff. Please?

Freed the murant. Nice guy. Met the president. Told him to kill himself. He agreed. Stopped there.

Again... i meet my sidekick again right? She is holding like 3000 worth of caps for me. ..

So how do I add friends for mk8.

when we go online my mii is dad. Lol
Go into the pause screen and on the left, there is an icon to invite friends or see if friends are on. You're screen name "dad" will appear, but on the right you'll see your Nintendo Network ID. That's it.

Mario Kart 8 is sick
Had a bunch of people over Saturday to play. :nerd: Was a blast. Lots of fun.
gives me hope for Smash
Mario 3D was a fun multiplayer game too. It's a fun system, too bad it isn't taking off.
And Donkey Kong is probably the best of them all ;)
Haha it was a good looking game too. What annoyed me the most -- having to restart the boss levels everytime I died. I just beat infamous and everytime you beat a stage of a boss, that's where you started back. DK sent you back to the beginning.

I'm just messing. If it wasn't for my daughter that game doesn't get finished

Beat Last of Us

Its a good story and all but I felt a bit disappointed at the end. I basically sneaked my way past the last group and then had to kill them all when one casually saw me. The game like Uncharted forces you to do a lot of needless killing. Then I had to murder the doctor when I felt like I could of just said out the way #####.

Just a bit let down after all the hype. Gameplay wise this was excellent. Very sleak controls and an innovative sonar system. AI was pretty dumb at times and really good at others. No predictable patterns. The detail was astounding. Every blade of grass and broken down car was unique. The sound and music were fantastic.

The story again was good but the second spring was a let down. Winter was the high point of the game and that ended so depressingly.

So good game almost great but I probably wont play it again.

This is pretty much where I am. Only my paladin chick got wasted fifteen minutes after she joined me. We walked out the Citadel, wandered into a supermutant camp, and she charged in like an idiot with her sledgehammer and got cut to pieces.

Good riddance, I say. Fawkes is way better.

Now the prez is dead, the Enclave's base is history, and I'm wandering around with Fawkes kicking butt. I'm going to wait a bit before reporting to Elder Lyons. If I recall, once you do that you immediately invade the Enclave at the Jefferson Memorial.

I don't think she is coming back. I lost alot of stuff she was carrying. Crap.

Reported to the elder to complete that mission but didn't start the next one. I did read that one you start it you effectively can't stop the final mission. Although I have the game of the year edition with all dlc's so if I understand it right my game won't end.

Did the vault 101 mission and started the Lincoln Memorial one. ... fun game.

if she didn't die then you should find her either in your home or the citadel.

How did you build your guy?

I went small guns and explosives, and just started branching out with big guns to use the Burninator (a special high-powered flamer I found in some sewer).

Still rolling with the Ranger armor, because unless you go energy weapons or melee, it's better than most power armor.

I honestly don't remember. I don't think small arms was one of them though. One of the things I have to do still is get the armor training so I can wear all the armor I've collected. I've been wearing either raider spiked armor or for awhile I was wearing the assassin armor from the guys that are sent to kill me from the guy that wanted me to blow the bomb up in Megaton. Haven't worn any other armor yet.

Also have the burner and a ton of fuel but I've never used it. Don't know why just never did. Ton of fun with the combat shotgun and the laser weapons. I have like 30 assault rifles and more hunting rifles in my house in megaton, not to mention a ton of stuff including a rocket launcher and minigun laying on the floor at the top of the Washington monument. I also have a few things in various lockers throughout the world. But I have traveled back to the Citadel and my paladin wasn't there so I am assuming I lost everything I had her hold which sucks.

I have the mutant now with me and had him holding a ton of stuff but spent some time collecting everything slowly and bringing it back to megaton so that if I lose him I don't lose too much. I reported back to the Citadel but didn't accept the final mission yet as I said. Probably going to hit the Lincoln memorial mission tonight and get that done. From there, I think I have to backtrack and make sure I have seen all the towns that opened that I haven't visited with any depth yet. I feel like I blew through the main story too fast and didn't give enough time to the side missions. I've been going good karma the whole entire time so I might just do the final mission and get that done so that I can start rampaging the entire map afterwards.

Winter was some of the best gaming I can ever remember from a story perspective. The switching back and forth between Joel and Ellie was intense - definitely the high point of the game for me. I thought the story carried great weight to it and thought the ending was appropriate for what the story was trying to do. Killing the doctor was purposeful - he killed one of who knows how many doctors remaining in the world to get Ellie back.

The AI was hit or miss - at one point in the game Ellie's AI had her running in circles in the middle of a bunch of enemies that didn't seem to notice. I re-started and it didn't happen again.

Yeah you should meet up again after you get out of the presidents place IIRC.

Nope, she wasn't there. My mutant friend was there shooting helicopters.

I didn't use the Paladins as followers. If she wasn't there she should be back whereever her home base is. Look up her character name and they should tell you where to find her.

played the first 10 minutes....hated it...
The whole, "this game will make you want to kill yourself, but it's so rewarding!" marketing angle is not an effective one.
It's definitely not for everyone. I hear the new one is much more accessible. And really the whole game is so hard is overdone. Yes some of it is tough but you can almost always find a way to make it easier. At the end of the day it is still an RPG and upgrading skills/armor/weapons makes a difference.

Seeing the giraffe was one of my top video game moments.

It actually made me think of what my favorite video game memories were.

- The first time I made a sorcerer in the original Bard's Tale

- The first time I finished a season in Madden 99', which was the first year they had franchise mode. The subsequent offseason moves and draft was marvelous.

- The first time I was eaten by a grue in Zork.

I know there's many more, but that moment seeing the giraffe was right up there.

Well, yea, if you want to be dismissive about it. I thought it was a very cool and unexpected moment in a game whose strength is story and resonance.
