it is really good. My son brought it home from college. I have to pick it up at some point

I have heard so many good things about FIFA over the years but like other sports games I have never purchased it.

Are sports games fun if you are the only gamer in family or do these really shine when you can play against a non AI opponent on your couch?

I mainly have sports games and I enjoy playing against the computer. You can adjust the difficulty settings to make the gameplay fit the way you want to play. Plus, I mainly play in the franchise type of mode in sports games so the team building aspect is fun too.

It's good but one thing that is so off putting with sports games is the difference between the intro and menus and the game itself. They've made the intros so insane with graphics and music, gets you all hyped up.. Then the game starts and you're controlling a bunch of little guys on a field the same as every game since 1995.

I think you would really like playing against CPU in franchise mode. I know almost nothing about soccer and usually play Madden or NBA2K games, but this FIFA game really draws you in...the gameplay is really great.

Got a new computer (my nephew built it). We decided to go upper mid-level gaming rig, even though I haven't been into computer games for many years (I am a heavy console gamer). But I loved computer games back in the day, and the prospect of playing Skyrim with mods on my TV intrigued me (I had played plenty of PC Morrowind with mods years ago). The video card has HDMI out, so I hook it to the TV, and I bought a USB wireless receiver for the Xbox controller. As soon as you turn on the controller, the computer recognizes it and uses it for the game.

I download the Steam version of Skyrim (which has full controller support - in other words, if you plug in a controller, it defaults to the xbox style control - no setting it up). I got acquainted with mods, and wow.... it's a new game. Which is saying a lot, because I put about 150-200 hours into the console version. The thing that's cool is it all works flawlessly. Except for the double-click to start up, it's exactly like playing the console version - with better graphics/performance, and awesome mods.

I'm a heavy Skyrim player on the console too. But I've been thinking of buying a PC version for my new gaming rig and trying this out.

Question: what's so great about the mods? Can you give me some examples? Are they just aesthetic or are they like expansions with missions, etc. ?

There are mods that change perks, all kinds of neat player homes, tons of dungeons, town makeovers, etc.

Yea, they released a builder (they did the same with Morrowind and Oblivion - the fallout games too). Tons of people created all kinds of improvements and enhancements. PC-only, though.

Mods are easy for players, too - download what you want, activate them in the mod sorting program (available at the link I posted - the instructions are all there, and it's pretty basic), and that's it.

If you liked Skyrim, NR, you should look into this if you have a computer that can do it. You like getting every last ounce out of a game, and this turns Skyrim into an almost unlimited game.

Got my 3rd character to level 70. His paragon level is 56 and he is by far the strongest of the three I have built so far. I am comfortably playing in Torment 2, and thinking of maybe going up to T3.

I was going to push through for platinum but I am going to stick with this character for a while to see how far I can get in the Greater Rifts.

I got 1 character to 70, paragon 64. I then started a HC character with a friend and we both got to level 24. Still a long way to go there, but it's been relatively easy thus far. Maltheal scares me a bit in HC since I died to him in my 1st playthrough. Started raising a 2nd character, and with the residual stash loot and royal/imperial gems it makes leveling a breeze. I got to lvl 44 in a couple hours playing at T1-T2 almost from the start.

btw, if you have the plans to Cain's set, it boosts xp gain significantly.

Finished up Mordor, on to Wolfenstein. The first chapter (tutorial) kind of blew, but it's been good since then. It definitely has that old-school vibe that reminds me of Doom. I haven't played a single-player FPS in a long time and this is nice one.

My highest Greater Rift is level 11 but I have not concentrated on those as I tend to want to upgrade the legendary gems instead of getting a higher level key at the end of the Greater Rift.

I am driving for the platinum so I am letting my 6th character be the hard core. I set it on the easiest setting and it was actually too easy. I did not want to die obviously but I finished the entire story, and have gone through some bounties, level 41, and not only have I not died, I have not even come close to even using a health potion.

I am going to get the platinum and then go back to my monk and see if I can get that guy to survive always at T4. Only think left in Platinum is getting to 500 bounties and getting the HC character to 70.

I hope people are getting the gifts I am sending. I think I have sent over 20. They expire after 30 days.

No idea what a greater rift is. I have been through countless nephalim rifts, but have not yet seen a greater rift.

Added in 2.1.

Sometimes at the end of a Rift, a special key will drop called Keystone of Trial from the Rift Guardian.

This key will allow you to access a new game mode called Greater Rifts.

You can read more about them here. They are blast because they are the only place to get legendary gems which have a fun affect on character building.

I liked it better then the past several. I'm still playing (and LOVING) NCAA14. I'm currently in my 6th season. (well over 20th total) Having left Marshall after winning the national title in my fourth season, I have high hopes for my new job as the coach of the 6th ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers!

It's the last NCAA game for god knows when so it's a convenient coincidence that I'm holding out on buying a XB1 for as long as I can.

NCAA 14 is easily one of the 3 best football titles ever.

I happen to love Madden 15 on the PS4 and i played the crap out of Madden 25 on the PS3.

I am in year 5 of my hurricanes dynasty on NCAA 14.....was close 2 times to getting to the BCS only to fall late in the season both times to FSU! I have one more year left on my contract.

Yup. There was another xbox one deal for $200 w/madden but there are none left in my area.

I need a 360 with a HD as my old 250 died and the only other HD I have is a 20 GB but that's for the old style and mine is a slim.

So I could either buy a HD for the slim, or buy this nice new 500gb model for me, and the kids/wife get the other newer 360.

I'm basically using them as media centers so they work great for us.

Thanks for posting this... there's a xbone bundle still in stock in some podunk Target about an hour away. I can agree with making $100/hr...Might have to stop giving bell grief about consoles

Alien Isolation PS4

I have been playing the game for the last week or so.


I love it so far. It is an exercise in intensity. I am on pins and needles sneaking around, checking my motion tracker, hiding, setting noise distractions to draw the Alien and go around the other way to accomplish my mission goals.

I am a huge fan of the series and it is easy to say this is the Alien game to truly give you the experience of the original movie. I was one of the few who found enjoyment in Alien Colonial Marines as I played it Co-Op with my son and we had a blast slaughtering Xeno's. But this game is on a totally different level and a 180 from that title.

The designers really made some beautiful design choices and are so true to the 1979 film. The space station your on has all the graphical touches of the Nostromo, the sound effects, music and the Alien itself are fantastic.

I am playing it on Easy. And it is tough (you will still die enough). I want to play through the game without constantly dying (as I heard Normal was really unforgiving) and playing thus far on Easy mode has given me a great experience.

I am searching for a trauma pack for one of my crew members (the attorney) and made it to the lower part of the hospital right after the Alien takes out the guy who would not help me until I got the dead Dr's Key Card.

My heart pounds as I play the game. I do play it with my Gold headset which to me is standard for all my gaming now.

Love NCAA14, NCAA was always a better game than Madden.

I took on the challenge of being Georgia State(worst team in the game) its a fun(and long) experience building up a 1-star program to at title contender.

Yeah, it's almost like GTA4 forgot what was fun in the earlier games. Saints Row exploited that and gave gamers even more of what was great about Vice City.

All of them could learn from each other though. I'd love it if GTA5 'ripped off' fast travel and purchaseable maps from Far Cry.

I put in over 200 hours on the game previously and am still discovering new things with this playthrough. I also love how customizable characters, it accommodates pretty much any playstyle you want (trying to go heavy on conjuration this time around, something I have never really done).

Been doing the same thing. Fired up my old lesbian dark elf character. My lesbian wife Ysolda and I have now adopted 4 children living in our estate next to Whiterun. This game is so progressive I love it.

Laughed so much I immediately played it a second time.

Just finished Stick of Truth last night. I completely agree with it being included in many top 10 games of 2014 lists. It truly is a masterpiece if you like South Park even the slightest bit.

Diablo update

Got my 3rd character to level 70. His paragon level is 56 and he is by far the strongest of the three I have built so far. I am comfortably playing in Torment 2, and thinking of maybe going up to T3.

I was going to push through for platinum but I am going to stick with this character for a while to see how far I can get in the Greater Rifts.

I got 1 character to 70, paragon 64. I then started a HC character with a friend and we both got to level 24. Still a long way to go there, but it's been relatively easy thus far. Maltheal scares me a bit in HC since I died to him in my 1st playthrough. Started raising a 2nd character, and with the residual stash loot and royal/imperial gems it makes leveling a breeze. I got to lvl 44 in a couple hours playing at T1-T2 almost from the start.

Don't forget that all paragon points are communal amongst your characters. You can add the 64 points immediately to any new character (assuming they are in the same hardcore/softcore mode).

I took huge advantage of the holiday community experience boost in late December (100% experience gain for a few days).

I have 5 characters at level 70 now (I flew with the experience boost). Paragon level of 80. My best character is the monk which has a 100% survival rate in T3 rifts. I die a bit in T4 rifts.

My highest Greater Rift is level 11 but I have not concentrated on those as I tend to want to upgrade the legendary gems instead of getting a higher level key at the end of the Greater Rift.

I am driving for the platinum so I am letting my 6th character be the hard core. I set it on the easiest setting and it was actually too easy. I did not want to die obviously but I finished the entire story, and have gone through some bounties, level 41, and not only have I not died, I have not even come close to even using a health potion.

I am going to get the platinum and then go back to my monk and see if I can get that guy to survive always at T4. Only think left in Platinum is getting to 500 bounties and getting the HC character to 70.

I hope people are getting the gifts I am sending. I think I have sent over 20. They expire after 30 days.

I received a gift that was perfect for a character that I was leveling.

No idea what a greater rift is. I have been through countless nephalim rifts, but have not yet seen a greater rift.

Added in 2.1.

Sometimes at the end of a Rift, a special key will drop called Keystone of Trial from the Rift Guardian.

This key will allow you to access a new game mode called Greater Rifts.

You can read more about them here. They are blast because they are the only place to get legendary gems which have a fun affect on character building.

Long time reader of this thread, first time poster.

I have a PS3 (at least for a few more months) and mainly play sports games (FIFA, The Show) with big names thrown in (GTAV, The Last of Us, Skyrim). Got The Evil Within and Diablo III for Xmas. Haven't played much yet but I'm enjoying both so far. Evil Within is really reminding me of RE4, loved that game. I got DIII because it allows couch co-op and my 16yo daughter is starting to enjoy gaming. She is just getting into Skyrim now, and its fun to have something to talk to her and help her with since I'm just an old man in her eyes.

Carry on the good work, I may be back with questions on Evil Within or DIII soon.

IMO best main stream JRPG since the PS2. My girlfriend who hates southpark(im not a huge fan either) and she doesn't have the patience for JRPGs besides Pokemon thoroughly enjoyed watching me playing through game. The story, combat, music, inside jokes were just fantastic.

Hmm, it may be my GotY for 2014...its been a long year, it did come out last year right?

That is correct. Blizzard decided to only upgrade the next gen consoles. I think the PS3 will end at rev 2.0 for Reaper of Souls.

I'm playing the PC version and, while it's fun to play, I can't figure out the save system. It acts like you can save at any time, but it apparently only truly happens at checkpoints. Am I missing something? Do I really have to replay large chunks of the game if I have to quit in the middle of a scene?

It autosaves quite a lot. I'm guessing the save feature is only really useful if you plan on having multiple playthroughs going on at the same time.

I found the save system odd too. It gives multiple save slots but when I go to load them I only see one.

World of Warcraft, easily.

I've played off and on since its release in 2004. I probably have a dozen characters who are at least level 60, many of which I leveled further in expansions.
