Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (1 Viewer)

EA has decided to postpone the release of NBA Elite 11 until next year because (obviously) it wasn't ready. It was crap. The good news for fans of NBA Live 10 is that they are releasing a free roster update soon for the 2010-11 season so people continue playing Live. They also announced they will release NBA Jam as a standalone game for both PS3 and 360 in time for the holidays.
Dayum, those people who bought NBA Live 10 got a good deal.

Nice. At least we're guaranteed to get NBA Jam even without NBA Elite now. I wasn't gonna buy that crap, although the graphics did look pretty good, even with the model-T or "Jesus pose" if you prefer to call it that.

New guitar hero game came out today.

It's like GH 3 but on steroids. GB of mine is a pro, He says Megadeth's "This day we fight" is harder than GH2's Jordan was.

Fired up Battlefield 2142 for the first time in years. Kinda cool with all of the unlocks, but I definitely remember why I was so let down from the game this time around...

Playing Company of Heroes now after that amazing Steam deal last week. I am really digging it so far. The cover, morale and leveling aspects of units is :potkettle: and WW2 games just own in general. :excited:

I've been doing some beta testing lately. Not really playing any new releases and I don't really care. I actually have a nostalgia kick right now. I've been running through a bunch of the old Mario and Zelda games. I finished Zelda 1, 2, OoT, Links Awakening, Super Mario Bros 1 (in about 30 minutes for my daughter), Super Mario Bros 2 Japan (the Real Super Mario Bros 2), Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64 (Well, half-way through with that one again), and played through New Super Mario Bros DS for the first time.

I'm currently playing A Link to the Past and plan on replaying Majora's Mask, Super Mario Bros 2 (Gameboy version, never played that version), and playing Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Super Mario Sunshine, Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, The Minish Cap, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks for the first time.

Phew! That's a lot of Mario and Zelda games.

I know this has nothing to do with what anyone else is playing, but I thought I'd share. Some days I just prefer me some sidescrolling 2D gaming to the new stuff.

You actually beat that game?

I saw copeman on LFD2 last night and almost jumped in but was just too tired.

Anyone up for a LFD1 campaign or two this weekend?

I bought the Serious Sam HD package for $9.99 about a week ago - it is really very good.

Several times. But there's no way I can do a speed run of it like I can Super Mario 1.

Black Ops is looking pretty sweet.

I think a couple of those are straight from Counter Strike (gun game is REALLY fun), but it doesn't matter, they look great. Definitely gonna pick this one up. Sounds like it could be the next FBG game until Gears 3.

Thinking about getting that too. I played the originals years ago and they were a lot of fun when doing 2 player co-op, especially with the cheat code of unlimited lives. The humor, design of the enemies (pumpkin headed chainsaw aliens!) and the weapons, the levels, it's not a sophisticated game, but it was a ton of fun.Long live the Cannon Ball Gun!

NBA2K11Next week. can't wait!!!
Me too. I'm a huge Jordan fan, so I'm all over this. The Jordan Challenges and Legend modes look awesome. A great game within a game within a game. I also just read that as you play, you can unlock up to 25 different varieties of Air Jordans which give you different boosts.

Horrible news.

It seems they're only doing this for financial reasons. The game will sell just as many in April as it will in the fall. :gay:
 Push the game back 5 months so Halo/CoD can roll through. Then decide to move it back to its original release zone but a year later to probably see another CoD plowing on through. I guess I might pick up Black Ops after all since its another 12 months till launch.

BUT, the other games might not sell as many units if it releases in the Spring, which is what it really comes down to. Not GoW units, but the other games. Interestingly, The Old Republic is due to release in the spring. . .

Games sell better when released during the holiday season than when released during the spring. It's stupid, but it's true. While the core gamer will buy the game regardless of release date, the general and casual gamer will wait til holiday or have their parents/grandparents buy it for them for gift. I don't know why it matters that it releases in the holiday, since it'll still be available during that holiday either way, but that's the way the numbers work. Go figure.

Teh Gears is the premiere XBox-exclusive title (alongside Halo). Exclusive games are the "killer apps" that sell consoles, so having a premiere exclusive release for the holiday season is about moving hardware as much as software. Kind of a bummer to wait, but it makes perfect sense from a Microsoft marketing standpoint.

I'm good with Gears 3 being pushed back. I can take some time off of work to play it
Dear Boss-I will be out of the office for the next few days. I have a strong desire to shotgun a few guys in the face.

I myself am saddened at the later release date. Gears is the only reason I'm holding on to my 360.

Why do 3 good games have to come out on Oct 5? (NBA 2K11, Castlevania, & Enslaved)
I'd reserve calling the Castlevania game good. I haven't seen a good 3D Castlevania game yet. This one looks promising, but trailers can fool ya.

And they totally have me by the balls too, as there's really nothing they can do that will make me not want to buy this game the day it is released. :goodposting:

Addiction. It's a terrible thing.

Do you play Gears 2? We have a pretty solid core group of players that haven't stopped playing Gears 2 since it was released.

I'll be back on the Gears next weekend. I wanted to get a nice run of FIFA in last night.

I still enjoy College Hoops 2k8.

Wish 2K would make another NCAA basketball game.

(looks like EA dropped their NCAA basketball license to make an MMA game.)

Last year's NCAA Basketball 10 was worth picking up. First EA college hoops game that I felt played as good as the 2k series. And unfortunately the last.

I know the EA NHL threads were a couple weeks back, but is there anyone on here that thinks the EA NHL game >>>> 2k NBA game?

I am ready to trade in Madden after 2 playings and I need to know where to throw my crappy trade-in credits towards (FU, G-Spot!!!).

My friends have been playing the #### out of NHL 11 for the PS3....they love it and think it's the best NHL game in years. I haven't played it though.

:goodposting: I haven't bought an NBA game since 2k5. I've been looking forward to this one.
I buy sports games once every 4-5 years at this point, but I'm not sure I've ever read a more glowing review of a sports game. I'm tempted.
So true. I don't think I've ever seen any publication give a basketball video game a rating over 9 before. Of course, I may be wrong. I don't feel like looking it up.

I played the demo and it was uncanny how realistic it was in regards to how the players looked and moved. I played with the Lakers and they absolutly nailed every little manerism and movement of Kobe and Pau. It is nearly photo realistic.

I might do the same with Madden. How much will Gamestop give you?
