Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (2 Viewers)

MOH might give COD a run for its money

It is going to bomb hard. They picked a absolutely horrible time to release the game. The FPS players went with Halo Reach and then have Black Ops penciled in as the other side of the MoH death sandwich. The more casual shooter players have Dead Rising 2 a week before and Fallout: New Vegas and Fable III the following weeks after. The money just isn't there to support a new game that doesn't already have the pedigree on a console. All this doesn't count Dice releasing a PC minded beta to the console population. By that I mean, PC's use betas to test very unfinished products when people classify console betas as finished product demos. MoH was universally panned for its horrible beta and basically killed their chance at having decent sells not even counting the terrible timing.

I love Dice, but this game doesn't have a chance, think Alan Wake vs RDR.

I've also heard that the MOH beta was horrible.

Big Dice fan here (despite their constant lying about downloadable content for BF:Bc2) and there's no chance i pick this up.

I haven't played a lot of FPS games since my stoner CounterStrike days. Looking to get back into them on my PC. I have plenty of power to run anything I'd like at the highest settings. This MoH release looks pretty sweet. Would it be a good game to step back into FPS games on the PC? Would you suggest something else? Have a top 3?

I know I'm in the minority but I want the better SP game between MOH and COD, anybody know which is supposed to be better?

I don't believe there are any details out yet about the COD single player, but the review of MOH above indicates that the SP in that game is only 4-5 hours and you have to play on hard level to have any semblance of a challenge. I can't believe that COD will be worse than that.

Surely these are both rentals if you're just playing for SP.
 If you looking for single player, go for Dragon Age or Alan Wake. That will keep you busy. (not FPS shooter, but  )
Probably rent, I love SP shooters :) Well "military" type anyway. I don't like RPG.Ghost Recon and Rainbow 6 are my personal favorites

What's the consensus on Medal of Honor vs. Call of Duty: Black Ops? I know neither has been released yet (MoH comes out next week), but what's the word on the street from the gaming sites, betas, etc.?I'm trying to decide if I should buy MoH next week or wait until next month for CoD.
I haven't been a big fan of Activision of late and I hate what they're doing with the CoD franchise. That said...My choice would have to be CoD: Black Ops. I really really wanted to like Medal of Honor and I may be speaking too soon, but I've hated what I've seen from the betas in multiplayer. I expected a Battlefield meets Call of Duty clone, but what I got was Call of Duty Hardcore server campfest 24/7. Very disappointed. I think I may boot up the open beta today to see if it's the same as the previous betas were, just in case, though. But even with the more arcadey play of Black Ops, you'll find fun there.
Medal of Honor looks to be very realistic. The game is being developed with consultants who are special ops soldiers.Still, the game looks a lot like Modern Warfare 2. I don't think there's ever been a shooter better than Call of Duty 4, so if MOH doesn't seem all that different from COD, should we assume it'll be better than COD? I think that's a stretch. Black Ops is the game to own.

I know the EA NHL threads were a couple weeks back, but is there anyone on here that thinks the EA NHL game >>>> 2k NBA game?I am ready to trade in Madden after 2 playings and I need to know where to throw my crappy trade-in credits towards (FU, G-Spot!!!).
Best NHL game yet, I play on the 360.

Any word on BCBF2 Vietnam DLC?

When is it coming out and what is the anticipated cost? I am getting an itchy trigger finger again and want to start playing that bad boy again.

Love that game.

Those of you that are anxiously awaiting your opportunity to play Duke Nukem Forever should be aware that 2K Games today announced that picking up a copy of Gearbox Software’s Borderlands Game Of The Year Edition, releasing October 12 for PC, PS3, and 360, will grant you early access to highly-anticipated Duke demo.

Yep, those that pick up the GOTY version of Borderlands will receive a key to the “Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club” granting its members access to various exclusive goodies including the demo before it is publicly released.

Only thing – we don’t know when that will be… 2K only states that the demo will be released “prior to the retail launch of the game”, which is currently slated for sometime next year. Also, we don’t know how much lead time the fancy pants First Access Club members will have before the Duke demo becomes publicly available.

Of course, we’ll keep you informed, but those of you on the fence about Borderlands Game Of The Year Edition might have just received your purchase incentive.
Nothing like a developer to give the finger to those who purchased the game already, helping it become a "Game of the Year" candidate in the first place.
If you purchased Borderlands on Steam, you get access to the Duke Nukem Forever First Access stuff. Kotaku article.I've confirmed that this has shown up on my account. :blackdot:

looking forward to Top Spin 4 PS3.

Looks awesome. Always loved the original. This one from 2K claims o have a amazing roster of classic and todays stars as well as a very deep career mode. When 2K says that....I believe!!!!

I bought it over the weekend, but I haven't opened it up yet... I'm still on the fence between this, NBA 2k and COD/MOH.If I'm a very casual hockey fan, how hard will NHL be for me to pick up and get into? Will this take me days and days for me to understand all of the nuances? Or can I pick this up and start having a good time right away?

Its pretty easy to pick up and get into it. I have been playing since NHL 09 and this is the best yet.I also picked up Halo Reach last night and am loving the online matchmaking play. I love the jetpacks.

Anybody been following Arcania: Gothic IV? Its an single player Action RPG that looks like it has potential. It drops the same day as New Vegas.

I think it'll also be overshadowed by Fable 3 (which also releases same day nevermind, I thought it was same day), but it'll be a good overlooked title.

Pretty much what i think. I believe Fable II comes out a week after Fallout, but Arcania: Gothic IV will be overshadowed by everything in the next couple months. It wouldn't surprise me if most people don't touch it until Spring 2011.

GamesRadar listed it among the 6 games that's doomed to die before it even releases for the rest of the year. The only title out of the bunch that I doubt will be solid is Power Gig. That's like expecting Rock Revolution to be great and the drum set looks like a joke.

The demo is out on live and it looks semi interesting, however the frame rate was pretty choppy. The player models look average. Overall, it lacks the polish I expect from a game in it's fourth iteration. In simi related news, I picked up Two Worlds (PC) at target for $9.99. The voice acting is terrible, but it's pretty good so far.

Anybody played Alpha Protacal yet? It's on sale at Target for $39 right now. I was going to get that or the new Castlevania game, but I'm waiting until I read some reviews.

It's not surprising, considering it's the first console port of the series. The previous 3 were PC RPGs.

The Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2 demo is badass. Starkiller wields dual light sabers this time.

This is a must-have game for anyone who's into the God of War games and is even the most casual of Star Wars fans. Picking up a stormtrooper with Force Grip, charging him up with lightening, then tossing him into a bunch of his friends remains one of the coolest and most gratifying things you can do in a video game.

Sadly it comes out the same day as FO Vegas.

That, and even though I love IV/V/VI, I don't really like playing Star Wars games for some reason. Never can get into them.

Just pre ordered Rock Band 3 off of points2shop.

I will never go back to Goozex. Having too much success answering surveys on P2S.

Not sure if anyone follows MLG at all, but the Washington DC event is live streaming right now @ mlgpro.com

Halo 3 competition is just sick this year. Winners' bracket finals is right now, the winners advance to tomorrow evening's final.

 What's P2S?
Points2shop- A freebie site, that lets you earn free stuff by shelling out info to market research. I don't do CC offers, cell phone offers or ones that ask for SSN. I don't mind it, I've redeemed 11 prizes( pending rock band 2/ rock band 3.)

Worst I've gotten was a free sample of axe body wash.one survey sent me $5

Goozex was a pain trying to get top tier games.

Bought my kids a Wii last night.

This is my second Wii. The first one I sold because I never played it. This one I plan on modding and the kids are a little older.

Just put in 146 hours into Demon Souls.

Got 100% trophies (first game ever).

Played all 146 hours in offline mode. Might spend some time trying online but I think my character is so high in levels that it is going to be hard to find anyone to invade.

I will be next going back to Borderlands and downloading all 4 DLC's and hopefully getting patch 1.5 which will add 8 more levels to the cap level (topping out at 69 if you have the General Knox DLC).

General consensus on the DLC's:General Knoxx 10/10

Zombie Island 7/10

Moxxi's Arena 1/10

Claptrap 4/10(haven't heard much about this one but everything has been disappointing)

You'd be surprised how much fun it is to start over and build a new character specifically tailored for PvP. An easy build is a Temple Knight, get to level 60-65 with Endurance = 40 and the rest of your levels going into Vitality (and maybe enough into Intelligence to throw Second Chance) with a Dragon Mirdan Hammer +5. At this point in this game's cycle, this isn't a particularly "cheap" build as the players you'll be encountering aren't noobs but instead are vets who are leveling up their own PvP characters. This game's multiplayer is really a great experience.

I have been thinking of doing this.In the couple of times I have been able to invade, the contests are over so quickly I am not sure what the fun is outside of disturbing another guys games. Most times I simply cast firestorm and its virtually all over.Is it more fun to use the red or blue stones rather than invading?By the way, thank you for your advice in the game. It made it more enjoyable.Only thing I did extra from your recommendations was that I used the "quit when die" technique so that I would not lose any progress.

was talking to my friend about this today and he ranked them similar (maybe a little higher on Claptrap). I may only get Moxxi because I am a trophy whore.

Picked up Uncharted and NHL '10 at Gamestop's B2G1 sale this weekend.

I think I'll set Uncharted to "easy" level so I can get through it in a week and use their return policy to get a different game. Is that stealing?

I think they'll only allow you to return a game for another copy of the same game.

BTW - #### you Mass Effect 2 for making it impossible (for me anyway) to have everyone survive the suicide mission. :hot:  :X
That aspect of the game was one of the best moments in gaming history for me. I loved having those very real consequences to my actions. I'm looking forward to when developers start adding those type of consequences to the middle of games so that you will really have to suffer through the loss of your team for the rest of the game. While it was dramatic for Mass Effect 2 there wasn't any real impact on your ability to beat the game.

There is always a way to make everyone survive if you completed all the loyalty missions. You just did it wrong.
