Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (2 Viewers)

So when does backwards compatibility take effect for the XBOne? I will have to upgrade now, assuming I keep all of my library.

I want for details on this too... I really just want to make sure I can play my downloaded games. I don't really use discs anymore.

So when does backwards compatibility take effect for the XBOne? I will have to upgrade now, assuming I keep all of my library.
Will launch this Christmas, with 100 select titles and they will add more as time goes by.

Beta test starts this summer for select xboxers .

Here is the list of the 100 backward compatible games.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility

There are 21 games in the list the rest are to be announced.

MS has to add a little software for each game to make it compatible and for disc authentication. If it is on the list you can put a disc in and authenticate and if you have the digital you can download it.

Anybody have a good E3 podcast?
Kotaku.com has them all, they post the story when a company is up to bat if you want to watch it live. MS is over now. I think there is a podcast somewhere on there.

EA is up next then Ubi then Sony.

IGN.com also usually has good streams.

Since it isn't dependent on hardware, it'll be soft software releases. They said it will be first available this holiday. My guess is that they will make about 100 popular games available at first and add more games in different intervals, similar to how Xbox 360 BC worked. The XBox One will still require these games to be downloaded, so they have to have them available in the download library. I'd guess that any digital downloads will likely already be available. If it does work this way, it's possible that some games may never get backwards compatibility.

This is merely speculation.

Thanks for this. Looks like it will work as I mentioned above. (Edit: Weak list so far.)

Xbox One Backward Compatibility is easy to use
The Xbox One Backward Compatibility Beta is available starting June 15 for Xbox preview members. The program will launch broadly in fall 2015.The digital titles that you own and are part of the Back Compat game catalog will automatically show up in the “Ready to Install” section on your Xbox One. For disc-based games that are a part of the Back Compat game catalog, simply insert the disc and the console will begin downloading the game to your hard drive. After the game has finished downloading, you will still need to keep the game disc in the drive to play.
nice!

Wait, so is my back catalog part of the 100 games or not?

So I downloaded the Witcher 2 on my 360. If I buy an XBox one, will I be able to play the Witcher 2 on it right away or is it going to take a bit? It's not one of the games listed on the website.

The plan is that eventually, it will be. But it'll take time to get all of the games into the BC list. Your more popular games will likely get worked in faster than a game like The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

Interesting note. All the BC games are first party titles FYI. They will have to negotiate with non MS developers if they want to BC a game.

Gotcha. I might push back until Christmas then and get the XBox one then.

I've got my backlog I want to finish before getting another system because I know once I switch it'll be all new games. Still though, Fallout 4, Witcher 3, Dark Souls 3, and Star Wars battlefront all sound like a good time.

Unless you specifically want a One before Fallout 4, I don't see a reason to buy one before then. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Fallout 4 Xbox One bundle around that time.

I'm still just playing the hell out of The Show. I have 3 RTTS going - a starting pitcher, a power Right Fielder and a contact/speed Center Fielder. The Right Fielder is who I play the most. Made it to the bigs after Spring Training in his 2nd year but the Padres were platooning him and only giving him occasional starts despite the fact that he was tearing it up. After enough #####ing to management about playing time and getting a trade, they sent him to the Twins where he's a full time starter and adding some serious hitting to an already strong pitching rotation.

My Diamond Dynasty has stalled out because I've been getting crap for cards. Haven't gotten one good enough to put on the roster for a while now. Upside is that I've built out my customer guy by feeding him crappy cards to the point that he's the best on the team by far. May stop that to try and collect some team cards for the special players.
My RF for the Twins got benched about 3 weeks before the All-Star game in favor of a guy with a rating 15 pts below him. I think it's likely because of a couple games where I had an error or two and got picked off on 2nd due to controller issues (Was on first, pick off move came and was thrown over the 1st basemen's head. I pushed up on the stick to advance to 2nd but the ball went out of play and the switch to me being advanced to 2nd was so fast that it took my push as an effort to steal 3rd before the pitch - has happened multiple times. Along with the abrupt change in view when a ball goes over your head in the outfield they may be my two biggest controller gripes in the game). Anyway, the benching cost me my spot on the All-Star team in my rookie year so now I'm requesting trades again. Will be interesting to see if there's a notion of getting a reputation as a bad egg if I manage to get on my 3rd team in just my rookie year while leading the league in average.
My power hitting RF is still in AA. I HATE flyballs and most games I stink on D, though I was leading the league in HR / RBI until a cold spell that has dropped my average 30 pts..... :kicksrock: I think I'm in the mid 60s power, mid 50s contact, 60 clutch...and nothing into D yet. Overall 62. I'm stinking it up right now. Any suggestions?

Yeah thinking I'll hold off. That 1tb matte black model they're coming out with looks sexy though.I wish the bundles were digital copies of games. I'm tired of discs - I don't like switching them, they're normally loud, and I always end up with a scratch that screws things up.

I think that's the way Xbox One bundles work. You have to install them anyway, so they just include the game code. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That would be great... Hope that's the case. I bought The Last of Us PS3 bundle and it came in a tiny sleeve so not only was it a disc, they didn't even give you a case.

Got my Origin account signed in just in case they announce beta for Battlefront like they've done the past couple of years.

Started Wolfenstein The New Order. It's pretty good so far.

In the prologue I chose to save the guy who gives you hotwiring skills and extra medpacks or something. Did I make a wise choise?

This is the case. All Xbox One bundles use digital codes for the pack in games.

I don't remember who it was a week or so ago that said they were interested in buying Mass Effect on Origin, but the trilogy is on sale for $15. Or $15 for the Digital Deluxe Edition of ME3 if that one is the only one you want and you definitely want all the DLC.

Edit: just looked and it was igbomb. So yes, Origin is having a sale. Go nuts.

Dead Space trilogy is one of my favorites and the Crysis trilogy is also pretty darn solid.

I haven't followed this since the xbox one was announced, but did they follow through with that family sharing thing? Originally I remember reading someone within your circle could check out one of your games and play it on their Xbox. Did that happen or did they bail on that idea?

Wow. Star Wars Battlefront looks incredible.
When Darth Vader showed up, I might have squealed. I wonder what would allow you to man him and Luke on the battlefield.
In the old Star Wars Battlefront games, a certain kill streak allowed you to choose a "hero" on your next spawn, I believe. Probably the same system.
They were on timers or ticket based, when your team hit a certain point it gave the option to a specific player, I think the highest score on your own team.

Anyone try out any of the newer "Lego" games? My wife and I loved some of the earlier ones (Harry Potter, Star Wars, Pirates, and recently Marvel Superheros). Looks like they have a Batman 3, Lord of the Rings, Hobbit and most recently Jurassic Park. Is it just "more of the same", or are any of them really that much better? We really, really liked Marvel - by far out favorite so far.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKLSGALIWUE

For me, the top 3 are:

1. Lord of the Rings

2. Harry Potters

3. Star Wars the complete saga

I have Batman 1 and 2 and still have Marvel wrapped up. Have played a few boards on Batman 2 and its okay. Maybe the story gets better.

Lego Dimensions looks good too.

I'm getting a little sick of remakes. Halo, Gears, FF7, etc. I'd rather have a new game, whether sequel or new IP altogether.
