Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (15 Viewers)

I got unexpectedly burned out on MGSV. Didn't expect that. This is a really good game, but I think I poured in too many hours too quickly, and the missions are starting to feel very same-y. And this is an extremely long game. Not sure how to check my playtime, but I'm sure I'm past the 25 hour mark and I'm not even halfway through the main story missions and sitting at 22% completion or something. I'm sure I'll come back to it because it really is well-done.

In the meantime, I am looking very forward to the Uncharted collection, which comes next Tuesday. I know these games get a lot of criticism in this thread, but this is still one of my favorite franchises, and I'm looking forward to re-playing U1 on the PS4 as much as I was looking forward to RE4 on PS3. I fully plan to plow through all three games on hard and crushing back-to-back-to-back. YankeeFan23 -- you with me?
I felt the same way. Some missions are very long and there's a few little issues that make it feel even longer.

Got most of the way through Until Dawn.

Might have hit a late game wall because of two issues. First, searching for clues and such has gotten to a point where I'm finding almost nothing new and even things I am finding for the first time aren't clues and don't really add anything to the game. Plus, pretty much the whole story has been laid out. Feels like I'm just grinding my way through to the end now.

The other is a quick time shooting mechanic has made a significantly negative impact on my story. This wouldn't bother me much normally but I spent so much time searching for clues and totems and thinking about decisions, only to have it ruined by some stupid, rarely used quick time event. The salt in the wound though is that earlier in the day I was doing time trials in the MGSV target practices, so I know I am not just bad at quickly aiming and shooting.

For how creepy and surprisingly fun this game was for the first 80 percent I'm pretty disappointed.

One more week to wait. It comes out on the 8th. But there is a demo available on the 29th.

I'm more than ready for this one.

Now, if they'd just remaster Mass Effect I'll be game'd up for the rest of my life.

I had to step away from the game for about a week myself, though that's partly due to FIFA 16 and Super Mario Maker coming out. Very fun, very well done, but it can be a grind.

Funny, I feel the exact same way.

I love the game, and it's easily the best stealth game I've ever played. Love scouting out a base and thinking "you 17 guys aren't stopping me" as I silently plant C4 on the communications antenna (just in case.)

I've put 30+ hours into it so far (seven story missions and a slew of side missions), and am still sitting at less than 10% completion (how can that be possible?) I've already gotten a "normal sized single player game" out of this. So I don't really consider the grind a drawback - it's simply a game that's going to take me a year to compete, that's all.

Disclaimer - except for Skyrim and the Fallout games, I am not one to play a game to death. 25-30 hours is typically my burnout point where I want to move on to something else. With MGS, however, I know I'll very much enjoy dropping back into this two to three weeks from now.

Never went back to 1. And so haven't looked at 2 and 3. I might do it but certainly not on hard. That's just crazy talk

MLB RTTS questions!

My SS is killing it for the Reds, but they suck around him. Oh well.

I started a SP. I went with 4-seam, Slider, Changeup. I have a question: I know if you up the velocity rating on the Change, it's speed decreases. If I up the velocity rating on the Slider, will it's speed increase? I want a fast slider. My goal is to build the nastiest most amazing slider, Chris Sale style.

Are the H/9, BB/9, HR/9 stats important? Or will they only affect simulations? Meaning: should I bump my control stats, or the BB/9 stat?

I'm thinking of turning off the batting opportunities because I went 4/4 my first game pitching and didn't appear to get any training points for it...

Only thing I don't like about MGSV is when you're at a base that takes a lot of crawling through tunnels. That crap takes forever and is totally unrewarding in any way. I'll get detected and shoot it out before doing too much of that.

Am I going to miss anything if I skip all the cut scenes? Not sure how much more I can take of this.

I finished mission one. I restarted from scratch once as my first time through I messed up over and over. The second time went a little smoother but was still a bloodbath.

Trust me, once you escape all that, it gets 1,000,000 times better.

The stats that are per 9 are more important than, any other especially early. Focus on them and control for pitches when you have some extra. And you get stats for batting but they, aren't high because batters hit every game.

Home sick likely tomorrow. Looks like it's time to break out my new Xbone for the first time. What are the must have games? I'm big into RPGs & dislike FPSs.

Witcher 3

Skyrim

X-Com (kinda, but still awesome)
Skyrim and X-Com aren't available on XB1 yet. Maybe they'll get added with the backwards compatability update.

Witcher 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition are the 2 heavy hitters. There's also Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited (which may be what Sand was referring to). Neverwinter is a free to play RPG set that gets a lot of good write ups and just got its first expansion.

You guys really got me thinking about MG. I'm ready for a new game but not settled on one yet.
gears?
When you get back. I never see anybody on. Dude is usually incognito so i never see him on, even if he is.

I'm looking forward to your return. I assume Pete will be on more then as well and between you, Pete, dude, slut, the occasional Uni anduself, we should be able to field a team of 4.

Until then, metal gear is pretty good so far.

I'm just skipping all cut scenes. I'm into mission and getting more comfortable with the controls. I like it slot so far and looking forward to unlocking more items and weapons.

On my last mission I was able to sneak all the way in but got busted by the dude I was there to assassinate. I just offed him and ran out of the base like a bat out of hell. Was fun.

The mission before I knocked everybody out and took control of the base, hopped on my horse and started out before a vehicle approached the base.... I circled back and took him out before he sent out the alert.

Good times.

Been playing Pillars of Eternity. Definitely the modern take on the Infinity Engine. Had a misstep because they don't bother telling you what a "turn" means in terms of your Stronghold. Sent one of my guys on a minor adventure lasting one "turn" and then proceeded to run side quests while I waited for him. Turns out a turn only occurs when you complete a step in the main quest storyline so I was getting my ### kicked on all these side quests and missing out on getting that character experience. Turns out the thing to do is, put them on a quest than immediately go complete the next main quest step.

Do you like Diablo? Diablo III on the xbone is great and also offers good couch co-op with the missus.

Been playing SOMA. Highly recommended.

It's by the guys who made horror adventure games Penumbra and Amnesia.

So far it's pretty decent. You're basically exploring an underwater research station where something went horribly wrong. Typical adventure game stuff like solving puzzles and avoiding bad guys. The story is engaging and reveals itself at a good pace rather than just building up over a number of hours. As a horror game, it's not a pants-####ting scary as a lot of other titles but it has its moments and the characters, including the many AI robots you meet up with are really fleshed out.

Not spoiling too much but there's an area late game where you are basically exploring a deep underwater area in a diving suit a la the movie The Abyss and it's one of the most atmospheric and well done game areas I've ever encountered.

No, I just brain farted - thought both of those were redone for the One. Woops.

I also have Dragon Age and would pick Witcher III over that one handily.

I had asked this earlier in the thread, and Todem had some good answers. My SP is also on the Reds, and they also suck around him. Wish your SS was here lol. 1.40 era, but 16-6 with 305k in 200ip? WHIP 0.76. Arghhh. Anyway.....

The H/9, BB/9 do more to increase your player rating. I'm guessing they do more good if you are simming instead of playing, but this is just a guess.

I continue to contribute to those rankings, but more to my main 3 pitches.

I've also been building my stamina, finally up to 80. Tired of the Reds pulling me in the 8th and having the BP lose the game.

You get training points for base running, but I've yet to get any for hitting.

Fired this up again on a long plane flight. Amazing what I missed the first time around. Still highly recommend keeping a walkthrough handy.

The stronghold was a neat idea that had very little effect on the game. It's primarily a money sink. Felt like they didn't take it far enough.

Talk about ###-kickings - don't get into those bounties until you're at least level 5. They're the best source of XP/gear, but they are hard until you get to about 10th level.

Yeah - the game definitely lets you walk into some way over your head areas early on - the blood pit, the mercenaries hanging out near where you pick up the priest, the undead Estates in the first big city...

Too bad on the stronghold. It almost has enough to make this a true crossover game if they done a bit more with it.

Ok, so I finally ordered an Xbox One. I was waiting to see on the fallout bundle, but since it's just the system and game I decided not to wait.

So, for $399 + tax I got:

1tb Xbox One with the 3.5 mm Jack controller

Madden 16

NBA 2k16 (might sell this)

Assassins Creed Unity (might sell this)

Some other game that I might sell

1 year of EA Access

That's pretty good, no? I figure I can sell the NBA game for a good bit and just preorder fallout or halo 5.

Good deal. Just buy fallout if that's what you want.

Yeah thats what I'm planning on doing... I probably will sell the NBA game since it just came out and can get $50 for it on Ebay. I don't have much desire to play an NBA game. I don't care for the Assassins Creed games either so I'll sell it.

Basically comes out that same in that case as the Fallout Bundle but I get Madden included and the EA Access.

I just picked up Shadow of Mordor game of the year edition for $16 on live. Loving it so far.

Valiant Hearts is also free this month- everyone should pick that up.

So MSG 5 is available on Xbox Gold this month. Worth the download? Keep in mind I don't really play online I prefer to do my own thing.

It's not the full MSG5, which is called The Phantom Pain. Ground Zeroes is more of a prequel. And it's worth playing, even though it's pretty short, but being free, there's no reason to complain about the length. Also, I don't think there was any online play at all in the game, so you're good to go.

The Telltale Walking Dead game is free for the 2nd half of the month for anybody who hasn't already played it. It's certainly worth a playthrough.

RTTS:

Have you ever just been totally shelled for no reason? I'd been pitching great and then gave up like 8 straight hits, struck out the other pitcher, and gave up another six hits. Previously like a 2.10 ERA, sub 1 WHIP.

Wtf?
