Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (6 Viewers)

Started a new character in the Harbinger League in PoE.  Just slogging through the original Acts to get to the new content...
I have not yet made it to new acts either (early in act 3 right now).  But there are some noticeable improvements in what I have seen.

*The loading time is lighting quick.

*The mini map improvements are great

*The graphics took another good step forward (especially the water effects)

just won a solo match. Sure I only killed 3 people and spent 90% of the time not seeing anyone and trying to find an assault rifle, but it still counts dammit.

as you gain points for each match, what do the accumulated points do?  Is it just pure stats or do they eventually unlock things in game?

DL'd PUBG, short on ram and vid card is 6 years old.  May upgrade in the next month or so.  Fired up BF4 for the first time in a couple of years though.  Had fun.

Destiny 2 is about a month away, is anyone excited for this game?
Not really. I mean i know some who are but I never got the appeal of destiny. It has a pretty generic feel. Did they add a story for 2?

I get the idea behind it. FPS space MMORPG geared more towards co-op. Sound good. I played the first one when it came out but it got too repetitive and bland. It was too much of a chore. But supposedly it got better after the expansions but I'd given up by then.

No idea about there being a (significantly better) story. When I watched the trailer it seemed generic to the point being a cliche. Not sure if its kind of half joking or not.

I don't really know much in depth about it though. Which is kind of why I asked if anyone was excited about it.

Nightrap 32x remake

If you're keen to get your hands on the remake of Night Trap, you'll have to be quick. To build on its cult standing, the campy horror game will only be available in a limited run when it lands tomorrow. Physical versions of the game will be restricted to 2,000 copies on PC, and 3,000 copies for the PS4. A collector's edition, housed in an individually-numbered throwback case, will launch the same day for Sony's console. Priced at $55, it will also include a bunch of retro goodies, including a cassette tape with the game's theme song. Considering an original Night Trap poster can net over $200 on eBay, it may be a worthwhile investment for fans. But, with just 3,000 copies available, you'll have to snap it up fast. Xbox players, on the other hand, will have to settle for a digital edition, expected later in the fall. Steam and the PlayStation store, however, will get the game on August 15.

I'm about to (as in paying for everything tonight) pull the trigger on this PC build but I thought I would throw it up in here first. Just to make sure I'm not over looking anything. This will be my first time building a PC and really playing on a PC. Any thoughts or concerns are appreciated.

90% for games other 10% Netflix, YouTube and streaming NFL games.

I personally would want more RAM. That link only showed 8gb. If I was doing a new build, I'd make sure to have at least 16gb but preferably 32gb.

Yeah. I bumped that up on my order. Ripjaws V 2x8gb 2400. Went with the 2400 because that's what it says the motherboard is good for.

I'm going to get it. I wouldn't say I'm excited. Didn't even get around to playing the beta. I played a lot of the first one.
Re: Destiny this is my sentiment as well.  I've got it pre-ordered and I'll certainly be playing it a lot when it first comes out.  I do wonder a little as to how long it will keep my attention.  Having a dedicated group to play with it key though.  For me, that's Alpha Company 835 on the100.

P.S.  I'm IndyMark007 on XB1 if any Destiny players want to add me.

I'm making the switch to XB1 for Destiny 2. I may join the group you linked. I was in a similar group there for a while. I'm EastCoastBias08.

It's a great group.  I'm on a break at the moment, but I imagine traffic will pick up a ton come next month.  Lots of folks who don't mind assisting with the harder content too, which I appreciate since I am by no means a tip of the spear player.

@Weebs210 @TLEF316 @jrt103  We did it! http://i.imgur.com/Oz1cPDP.jpg

Found a vehicle upon drop and headed to the very top part of the map (stabler).  The plane was nowhere near here so I was able to sort of loot and hang out in peace for most of the game (hence only 3 kills).  Got the circle too the whole game so it made it easier but, in the Final 4, I got all 3 of the kills which felt good.

I'm on for a few hours

I have ok headphones (Audio Technicas) but I'm having trouble hearing where shots are coming from if behind or in front (left/right is no issue).  Is there a way to configure them within windows to help with this?

PC dorks,

I built a new machine with a Ryzen 1800X and a GTX 1080 Titan.  Holy crap is this thing fast and beautiful.

Throwback video game moment over the weekend.  My kids are bored with the current game library, and are waiting for NBA2k18 to come out.  They talked me into (literally) dusting off the Rock Band equipment and hooked that up.  It has been several years since we played, and they got into it a lot more.  Had the wife come in for guest vocals on a couple of songs too.  Forgot how fun that can be...and I'm trying to fight the urge to upgrade to Rock Band 4. :bag:

@John Bender GGs the other day. I forgot to tell you to adjust your FOV setting in first person view. If you max it out it may help with becoming nauseated.

I just started playing Fortnite. It's in early access and it needs some work but it's kind of fun. The gameplay does get a little slow though.

I still play some Rock Band myself.  It's literally the main reason I bought the Xbox One over the Playstation 4.  I have over $1000 worth of songs on the Xbox that converted over.   Still a great series.  If you do buy Rock Band 4, see if you can find the Rock Band Rivals bundle, it has Rivals+Rock Band 4 all in one and you won't have to buy the Rivals expansion and it has the updated drums with better hit recognition.

Is this the bundle you're referring to?  It seems the drums aren't getting very good reviews.

I'm moving from the Wii, so I do need a whole new bundle if I do this.

I haven't used those drums, so honestly I haven't tried them.  They were supposed to have been better.    I know some people don't like the folded Jaguar guitar controller.  The standard Rock Band 4 kit is just fine, but you'll have to buy the Rivals expansion separately (unfortunately, that should've been a free update - as you only got the 10 free songs if you pre-ordered Rivals and the expansion is required for many of the game modes that were already in Rock Band 3).   The other downsides (although minor) is that they haven't gotten all of the licenses back in order, so some of my songs I own, I don't have access to until they get that in order.  But the game is still great and fun to play.

Done for the night but I will add you tomorrow after work
Sounds good, I found you in group and sent an invite.  I've never played as poorly in a shooter as I have in this one.  I just can't get a feel for the guns yet.  I did max out the POV so hopefully that will help some (only played 2 matches tonight).

It just takes some getting use to. If you are decent at fps games it will get better.

I am plowing along nicely in my POE character.  I am at level 79 now and working through normal tier 8 and 9 maps.   The character is plenty strong but lacks health.  I need to look more into some defensive flasks to help me out as I have two flask slots sitting almost unused (the other 3 are for healing).
