Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (6 Viewers)

Hearthstone new expansion is horrible, first month in a while I'm not going to reach legend because I simply have no desire to play DruidStone.  They should have never printed Ultimate Infestation card for Druid . It's so ridiculous.  

That said, if you're still playing, after testing a lot of decks, I found this deck to be the strongest, I high rolled from rank 16 to 4 in about 3 hours with it a few days ago.  But I'm done for the month and moving on to getting better at other games until they nerf Druid a bit.

I think if you're seeing a lot of Jade Druids though, Exodia Mage seems better,  I have a list I put together for that as well if anyone is still playing HS

I just love the blade flurry skill.  You don't even have to target anything.  Just click the mouse and things all around you die.

Going to go with a STR/Life build to get me back into the swing of things and then going to look into a Templar/Totem build. Are they still viable?

nice!  I have been focusing on just one build so far, very similar to your assassin build only using Ranger-Raider instead.

I just got to level 87 yesterday.   Tons of power, extremely fast clearing, but very glass like.  One unfortunate crit and I go poof :(

there are a bunch of starter builds posted for 3.0 that you might want to check out.  You still need drops to progress for gear but they give you a gem set up that you can get just by playing the game.

I have been playing priest almost exclusively so far.  It is a high roll Barnes deck.  It is very digital.  You get Barnes on time and you win 80% of the time, you don't get Barnes and you sweat.

Ultimate Infestation I think it the most powerful card ever in Hearthstone, more powerful than Doctor 7 or the annoying undertaker.

I think it is going to get nerfed.  Hopefully they don't nerf it into oblivion like many of their other nerfs.  The card does so much it should be pretty easy to nerf and still be a viable 10 drop.

Completely agree. I actually think Priest should/could be the funnest deck of the new expansion but everything seems so repressed by the new Druid cards.  Shadow Knight Anduin seems REALLY good but gets crapped on by Jade Druid.

High Roll priest vs Jaded Druid is a blast sometimes though

I won a game the other day where the Jade druid topped out at 17/17.   I don't know how it happened but I think I played like 11 Obsidian Statues to just keep hanging on.

1 from Barnes 

2 from Shadow Essense

4 from Eternal Servitude  (2 via Shadow Visions)

2 from the card themselves

2 from Free from Amber

I wish I had recorded the game, it was so comical. :)

He must have gone on tilt because he played a 9, 10, 11 and 12 sized Jade all at once while he knew I had not played Anduin yet :)

I haven't played it just heard about it. I guess it's also free if you bought the season pass for Uncharted 4. I googled it though and...

The average player can expect to beat the Uncharted: The Lost Legacy campaign in eight or nine hours. There is some optional content, including treasures to collect, that can bulk this up to around 12 hours.

Also, for the most part every thing I skimmed through seemed to be glowing reviews for the game and pretty much unanimously say it's worth the price. 

I'm not overly into Uncharted so I won't be playing it. Just passing along some interesting info.

It is but you literally have to high roll it.  I think EZ BIG EZ PRIEST EZ is probably going to get more refined and better.  

Jade Druid is so oppressive to control decks AND the fact they got Spreading Plague to counter aggro/token decks on top of it is just ridiculous.  Spreading Plague is more of a problem than Ultimate Infestation

 
Woke up early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so I gave PoE a try.  Nice hack n slash, but once I leveled up and it opened the character screen where you picked your skill to upgrade, I about fainted at the level of choices/detail to come.  Crazy.

Started a witch, because I generally prefer to use magic in games like this.  However, knowing nothing about this game, are all of the character types magic using potentially?

I can also tell early this game would be a lot more fun to play in a party.  Just conjuring some corpses to walk around with me was more fun.  

Quick review, this will be able to kill time for me until NBA2k18 comes out at least.

It's a good game. I would decide for yourself on the story and characters. A lot of the hate is overblown. There are boring characters (remember Jacob, James, there's one of them) but some are pretty interesting.

And Multiplayer is not required. They have an in game option to send out squads to do Multiplayer missions but you don't have to go on them and you don't even need to do them for any end game stuff. Lots of good content here. Huge plant maps with gorgeous settings. There are some collectible quests that get old but if you focus on the main story, the game will play nicely for you. I got my money's worth at $60 since my one playthrough was over 100 hrs. If you stick to the main story and some side stuff it should take you about 20-40 hrs. Well worth the new price point. Plus you get all the patches installed. So you won't see any of the weird facial animations etc.

any character can use any skill as long as you meet the requirements (int, dex, str).

In the tree, you can go any where you want.  Your starting character is not blocked from any path as long as you can reach it in the tree.

Just to note, the tree does not upgrade your skill, it upgrades your character.  The skills themselves are the gems you add to your equipment.  Those upgrade differently.  The gem themselves will level up and then can be linked with other skill gems.

Thanks for the info.  What, then, are the benefits of choosing any particular character?  More bonuses to particular skills down the line, or the ability to reach them faster?

 
looking for a new gaming/general use PC.   Not looking to break the bank and not looking to build one either.  

I have a GTX1060 video card so i can replace the packaged one if need be,

last one I built for about 600 willing to spend a little more

yes, there are some gems you do not want to overlevel based on your character.   As you level a gem, its requirements(str, dex, int) also increase which could put them put of your range as your character morphs.  There are also gems like Cast When Damage Taken, that you want to keep at certain low levels so they proc when you need them to.

If you do mistakenly overlevel a gem, you can remove a level by trading the gem and an Orb of Scouring to any vendor and they will give you back the same gem minus one level.

But for the vast majority of gems, you simply want to get them to level 20.  Also note that gems have a quality level to.  Most you want to get to a quality level of 20 as  each quality level adds a small amount of stats to the gem.

just note, that thread is 4 years old, so lots and lots has changed in the game.

Just a heads up - there's another "POE" dropping for consoles Mon/Tue - Pillars of Eternity. It's the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate 2, and has been out on PC for a few years. The version on consoles is the complete edition with all DLC/etc, and from what I read so far, works/controls great on consoles.

I really miss that isometric / party-based / real-time w/ pause RPG type of game, so I'm pretty stoked for this one.

That reminds me. Research points: There is a crafting system that requires you to amass research points of three different types (Milky Way, Heleus and Remnant...or something like that). The weapons and armor you can craft are the best in the game and crafted weapons can be equipped with certain enhancements that increase their effectiveness (weapon/armor drops lack this customization).  I strongly recommend you do not spend research points, particularly Milky Way research points as they are hardest to come by, until you know what kind of character build you want and what you may want to change into later in the game.

Do not spend a little research on a lot of different weapons or armor, choose one item and level it, then choose another one (again this particularly applies to Milky Way research). Heleus research points, IMO, are all about the Heleus Champions Armor I think it is the most powerful armor in the game but it gets expensive so use your research wisely.

You actively gain research points by scanning items (your character has a super special scanner) which can get tedious. But note that when you are near something that is scannable a flashing circle appears in the bottom left of the screen to let you know. It's a time saver but you don't always notice it is flashing.

Two ways to passively gain more research points are 1) strike team missions - you go to a console on your ship see a list of missions (ranked gold, silver and bronze for degree of difficulty) and certain missions have a patch, looks like an army sergeant emblem, these missions reward research data so prioritize them. You choose the mission, your strike team click go and walk away. They are timed so all you need to do is come back later to find out if you succeeded.  2) Unlocking rewards by increasing viability. This is a fancy way of saying that completing in game missions makes the entire Andromeda cluster more viable. As you increase the viability you get rewarded with points that allow you to unlock "pods'" (military, commerce and science) make a b-line for the science pods that reward research points. You then get rewarded with free research points at specific intervals.

great game!  Much different than the other POE in terms of game play as you noted.

Great to see it coming to consoles.  I think Pillars 2 is also in development.

You mean after unlocking the first base on Eos. I am not sure if that is the case.  I know that if you choose Military a squad of NPCs will show up end game to help on the final mission (I doubt you'll need them) but I cannot find any information about what happens if you choose Science. I think only some dialogue changes.

Sort of. In that one, I chose commerce to get extra $$. But every time you establish a planet / make an outpost, you get points to spend - either science / military / commerce (or something like that - it's been awhile). One of the choices is to wake up the scientists - this gives you Milky Way points every 40 minutes or something like that. It's really the only way to get them after the early game. But once you do this, getting them won't be a problem.

I didn't figure this out until midgame myself.

Yup. The whole R&D aspect of the game was confusing to me for awhile and the scarcity of Milky Way research points is something you don't really learn until it's too late.  

Using your AVP on science pods to get the research points, IMO, should be the top priority for AVP. Money isn't difficult to come by with scavenging.

DAMN!!!  I forgot to go home and buy it last night and it's back up to $40.... grrr.

The whole system is incredibly not user friendly. For the casual players, just buy the highest level available weapons/armor from a shop.

Valid point.  I also suggest buying as much disruptor ammo (for shielded enemies) and fire or cryo ammo (don't really need both but then again, why not?) for extra damage vs armour.

Buy it early and use it often, you'll be happy for it particularly early in the game when the damn Anointed show up with their damn Gatling guns. You want to identify, target and take those suckers down quick, fast and in a hurry because they do massive DPS.

Oh, totally get that. I had been reading the reviews because I am a fan of the series. Was a little disappointed to see the play time for a game running $40 or more.

 
More XCom2 DLC just dropped but this time with a $40 cost. Right in the middle of my new play through. Jerks. Not sure when I'll get around to that.

Update:  Got stuck a bit with my assassin, he doesn't have quite enough power to take down Maligro (sp?) in the 7 tries you get.

Meanwhile my electro witch blew threw him pretty easily and is still going strong.  I have ####ty gear too so I can only imagine how awesome she would be if I get some decent gear.  I've got a pretty decent zombie army that follows her around, can raise 5 atm, but driving towards a sixth.  Vaal Summon Skeletons is also handy when I need to distract a large cluster of monsters or a boss.

Ranger I haven't done much with recently.

I am liking playing the witch, with OP fire spells and additional damage.  I picked up an electric spell that rips through multiple enemies recently, so I'm going to work on buffing electrical damage.  I've seen some enemies resisting one or the other, but I'm thinking having both as an option would have me covered.

How do you get more zombies>  Is it just leveling up, or finding a better spell stone?  I on'y have 3 currently.  The 17 skeletons is pretty sweet though when you want to distract while you pick apart bosses from a safe distance.

There are areas of the skill tree that will strengthen your minions life, damage, increase their speed and resistances, and some that increase the number of zombies or skeletons you can raise at once.

POE, in general, does not respond well to mixing elements.  

In general, if you focus on just one element, your character will be far stronger.

There are a couple of ways to deal with bad guys who resist your element of choice.

1) use curses.  For example, if you are a fire user, use this curse https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Flammability

2) as you get more sockets and links, you can add in a support gem like this one, https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Fire_Penetration_Support

7 portals open to get to his realm, each time you die one of the portals disappears.  If they all disappear it is reset and you have to try again.
