So you’re not wrong on all this, but I do take a bit of a different stance on “not the laborious fetch questing” part. A lot of the missions, while interesting, were just fetch quests for me. Go to point A, talk to or kill person, go to point B, talk or kill some more, return to start. Granted, the consequences part made it cool, but the actual questing didnt blow me away or anything.Todem said:The game is enormous. But the greatest part of this RPG is the incredible story telling. Every quest is carefully crafted as well. Not the laborous fetch questing of say a Skyrim or Fallout. There is story and consequence to almost all of your actions. The voice acting is top notch. I love the game and am immersed in the world. I have not stopped playing since starting it at the end of October. I probably will be playing this game through late summer of 2018. By then I feel I will have completed all the quests and expansions.
A truly amazing RPG IMO. Probably the best I have ever played and I have put in over 400 hours into Skyrim with 2 character builds. But this game slays it in terms of story telling. Not even close in that regard.
When you say consequences to your actions, I assume you mean more to the story/outcome of the game? I guess stuff like Fallout has a little of that, but it's just more a village or faction will be mad at you, but it doesn't seem to effect a ton besides that.Todem said:The game is enormous. That is correct. The game takes a good 5-10 hours to get going. The first area is a giant tutorial map. But once you travel to Velen and Novigrad it is on.When you say consequences to your actions, I assume you mean more to the story/outcome of the game? Cool. Again, I knew nothing about this game besides it was highly rated. I just watched a trailer for it and some of the designers talking about it just now, and it looks badass. That is correct. Also a addicting and easy to learn card game is in this game called Gwent. I have built some great decks already and am winning rare cards as I type this in Novigrad. Really fun side quest and I want to collect them all if I can.
But the main story is tremendous and some of the side story's that branch out are awesome. You can see and feel all the time and love that was poured into this game. I have really taken to it.
Have you read the books? I did after I played. I need to do a full run through now that I have the background. That is correct. The game takes a good 5-10 hours to get going. The first area is a giant tutorial map. But once you travel to Velen and Novigrad it is on.

I just purchased the 3 book boxed set of the first 3 novels. I look forward to diving in.I had finished all but the last before playing the 3rd game. About 10 pages left of the last book now, I've recommended it to a bunch of people in the Witcher 3 thread for those who have said how much they enjoy the story/world.
I'm not sure there is any way to get 1 or 2 on PS4.Is there a PS4 set of all 3 Witcher games at a good price that anyone knows of?
I let my 9 year old play. I don't recall seeing or hearing anything inappropriate. Is Destiny 2 any good and how appropriate for a 9 year old? For reference I also got him battlefront 2 (best buy had buy one get one 50% off on select titles... everything else was either COD or sports games)
I think my kid has it or maybe it was just a beta.Looks like I'm getting Hello Neighbor for my son for Christmas. Weird
We just got one today so I'm no expertI have a few Nintendo Switch questions. You guys are better than Google.
1. What does an extra controller cost? Does it come with a second tablet? Is that possible?
2. IF (I will) pull the trigger, I am thinking Mario Kart, Mario Odd etc, and Zelda. Any other kid friendly games (9&7 boys) to recommend?
3.WiFi capable out of the box?
4.Will DL'd paid for games from the Wii roll over via an SD card?
TIA. Will answer yours.
Oh cool. Pretty sure my video card died in my desktop so going to replace the whole desktop at some point (it's probably 5-10 years old) but with Xmas coming probably not gonna happen soonYeah, I think the main version comes out tomorrow. There's been a couple beta versions or whatever but we don't have a real computer to put it on. Luckily, it's coming out on Xbox
Thank you.We just got one today so I'm no expert
1. 2 joycons ~$80, or I think you can get an Xbox style controler for $50ish? I think an extra holder for the joycons is extra 2. No the tablet is the system so if you want another one of those that's $300![]()
2. I got him Arms, seems fun. Splatoon 2 for Xmas but I'm open to suggestions too
3. Yes
4. No idea
I didn't know there were books. After hating the combat I dropped the game. The story/setting seemed interesting though, so I'll check out the booksI had finished all but the last before playing the 3rd game. To answer your question - the joycons that come with the game are all you technically need to play 2 players. However we have the pro controller and it makes 2 player games a bit better.Thank you.We just got one today so I'm no expert

Pretty sure nope on 4. It’s a great system. Love mine so far.Tony Jabroni said:I have a few Nintendo Switch questions. You guys are better than Google.

The combat, once you figure it out, is easy. Cast the protection spell so you can get hit without taking damage, as soon as you’re attacked hit the dodge button, then quick attack 2-3 times. Rinse, repeat. It has more substance that Skyrim, but I made it through the entire game just doing that same thing over and over. Just remember to upgrade your equipment.Page 666.![]()
I did have room, so I put Witcher 3 on the system too and started that a couple nights ago. So far I am much more drawn to that game. Like others have said, the world and characters are great. I am sure I will get used to it, but the one thing that I am really having to adjust to is the combat. I am so used to Fallout and Skyrim in the 1st person that I having trouble with this, and I also feel like I am just button mashing. I am sure I will get used to it, and I am tempted to go back to the first area and putz around more to get used to that and the game's system of alchemy/crafting. I do like the encyclopedia of monsters and that different things need to be attacked different ways. I am guessing will come even more into play and require planning to make sure you have the right stuff for harder beasts. I also need to learn the best way to get coin and the best way to spend it, and what is the best use of my character upgrades as I level up. Those are all "me" things, and so far I am really digging the game.
That is one confusing looking game. Amazing graphics though.
Do all the monster contracts you can. Never do one more than 5 levels above your current level though. Insta death.Page 666.![]()

Looks a little too bleak/horror for my tastes but I will likely try it out if it gets decent reviews.

Yes the combat takes some getting used too.....but once to get the hang of it, it is solid. Not great. But not bad either. Being prepared with potions and oils is key. Alchemy is a big thing for me as well and I dove into that. Horde all the ingredients you can as they weigh nothing. I am also big into the fire sign (Igni) and the Aard sign. I focused on those two so far (I am currently a level 19) and combat (fast attack and strong attack) as well as tolerance to potions and very important.....make sure you upgrade to Sun and Stars early which ups your max vitality 500 points.
Crafting is also important.
Just take it slow and immerse yourself. The game has literally a few hundred hours of game-play to give you. I am just getting lost in the story and lore.....and I can't wait to start reading the books I ordered. Very cool world.
You can get everything in the wild, plus all that junk you see (like fishing net's, mugs, skins etc) all can be used for crafting or broken down to get ingredients as well. Huge crafting and alchemy possibilities. It will all come together the longer you play. Like I said....take your time and really take in the maps etc. Explore explore, explore.![]()
Thanks for the tips. Do you find yourself being able to find a lot of the ingredients as you wander, or are there some key ones that you have to buy? I think I am just up to Level 4 and maybe have 6 points of upgrades I haven't done yet because I didn't quite know where to start with that and haven't been dying too much yet, but was going to use them when I fire the game up tonight.
I’ve never played the game, but I’m going to just agree with you on principal.I enjoyed Until Dawn, although it would have been better if hayden panettiere had dropped her towel.
Of course it is, it's a kojima game right? They play well, look great, but are almost always confusing as ####. (Not that doesn't mean I don't like them as MGS:V is one of my favorite recent games despite those issues)That is one confusing looking game. Amazing graphics though.
I liked that one quite a bit too. Are there others out there on those same lines that you or others recommend?I enjoyed Until Dawn, although it would have been better if hayden panettiere had dropped her towel.
I think I had to buy one or two for important potions early on, from there I don't think I had to buy much until towards the end of the game, when you needed a ton of the high end alcohols to craft the high end versions of potions.![]()

I found myself not using my horse because I liked to just wander the landscape. I also like that you can fast travel a little, but it's not as easy as in Skyrim, so it makes you wander a bit more. I might just go back to the first area and explore a bit more and get used to the mechanics of everything. There was still a lot in that area I didn't get to.You can get everything in the wild, plus all that junk you see (like fishing net's, mugs, skins etc) all can be used for crafting or broken down to get ingredients as well. I didn't use as much crafting until later in the game, I found the swords that were looted were on par with what you could craft until you started fining the witcher gear to craft. I think the only non-witcher gear I crafted was the assassin armor set as I was having a hard time finding good light armor in the beginning of the game. You can get everything in the wild, plus all that junk you see (like fishing net's, mugs, skins etc) all can be used for crafting or broken down to get ingredients as well. Also visit all the places of power (question marks on the map are those among other things like guarded treasure, monster nests etc). You get 1 ability point at every one of those. Plus you will need to defeat a monster etc. Also gives a sign more power for a while as well.I found myself not using my horse because I liked to just wander the landscape. Gotcha. I think I bought something for a quest potion - Swallow?, and an ingredient for something else. Didn't know if it is stuff that I just didn't know where to look for, or there are some that are rare or you have to buy.I think I had to buy one or two for important potions early on, from there I don't think I had to buy much until towards the end of the game, when you needed a ton of the high end alcohols to craft the high end versions of potions.
My first upgrades were health and the fast attack damage. Started mixing strong attack later on, and then some signs.
I found a couple of those, and that must why I have more points for upgrading than levels I am at. Honestly, I am having trouble reading some of the stuff (or don't understand it yet), so that is an issue too - so I found a couple places of power, but didn't understand 100% what it was. I need my damn eyes checked. Also visit all the places of power (question marks on the map are those among other things like guarded treasure, monster nests etc). I crafted a very nice set of Griffin light armor. I will be using light armor all the way through as well.I didn't use as much crafting until later in the game, I found the swords that were looted were on par with what you could craft until you started fining the witcher gear to craft. When you mediate all your potions and oils refill. As long as you have strong Alcohol in your inventory (which you will find adventuring and looting everywhere).Gotcha. I think I bought something for a quest potion - Swallow?, and an ingredient for something else. Didn't know if it is stuff that I just didn't know where to look for, or there are some that are rare or you have to buy.
Also, do the ingredients regenerate after X amount of time?
the telltale series games are similar, and I've enjoyed all of those that I have played.I liked that one quite a bit too. Are there others out there on those same lines that you or others recommend?
this depends on the difficulty level. i believe the "hard" level does not auto-replenish.When you mediate all your potions and oils refill. As long as you have strong Alcohol in your inventory (which you will find adventuring and looting everywhere).
The most important attribute/skill I got was the one that makes it so you regenerate health for a looooooong time after you eat something.Gotcha. Didn't know if it is stuff that I just didn't know where to look for, or there are some that are rare or you have to buy.
