Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (2 Viewers)

Bought a handful that were supposed to be good, but just not liking any of them.
Which ones did you buy?
Watchdog 2, Alan Wake, Red Dead 2 come to mind are ones I didn’t like. Ones I did like were the last of us series, uncharted series, sleeping dogs and days gone.
These are both good, underrated titles. The Last of Us and Uncharted are also very good of course, but they're not underrated.
Yes, loved them both.
There's a new Indiana Jones game coming out next week that's getting a lot of positive buzz that may be up your alley.
On Game Pass too

I dont care for Watchdog or Alan Wake but RD2 stands out. IIRC, Red Dead 2 does have a insanely tediously long (forced) tutorial so I can see getting upset with that.

Did you make it past that?

and then....

What are a few of your favorite games all-time?
I couldn't get by the early start of RDR2. just not interested in the story at all for some reason.

favorite games would be Vice City, GTA V, Days Gone, Last of Us 2.

Read Dead 2’s forced tutorial is one of the worst in gaming history. Not because it’s bad, but because it’s forced and long.

If you can force yourself to get past it, I promise you you’ll enjoy the rest of the game. It’s basically a freefall. I don’t even think I advance the story very far. I just ran around playing poker, shooting people and stealing trains and such.

The games you like to play and the games I like to play make a ven diagram that looks like OO.

However, both the spiderman series and batman arkham series are similar to games you like to play and both had at least 1-2 entries that were extremely well received.

I will also recommend a game completely different than anything you have ever played, Disco Elysium, is a story based game and would definitely make a top 50 game of all time list from me. It is a niche game though.

I may give it another shot then. The western time period for me isn’t something I’m big on so it was fairly easy to give up on.

Days gone rocked. Killing huge hordes was fun
Yes, I was really hoping for a 2nd one, but for some reason the game never took off like the makers wanted I guess.

I don’t think I could enjoy the super hero theme as I’m not a big fan, but the disco Elysian has me intrigued. Thanks!

This one is out for me due to it being a first person game. Bummer as I’m a fan of the movies.

I'll give Disco Elysium another thumbs up if you're looking for something very off-beat and unconventional. I would not recommend this title to everybody - it's very ideological (not red-blue tribal) and I found some of the gameplay irritating at times. But it gives you lots of different ways to approach the game, and it would have a lot of replay value if you wanted to replay it (I didn't personally). What I like about it is that it's not the same old same old. The developers had a vision for this one, and it feels like they didn't compromise on their vision.

So I got the latest Call of Duty for my kid because he paid for it himself. No big deal. This was a couple months ago. Lately my Xbox has been saying free up space. I got to look at the hard drive and there's only like 5 games on it. External has more but Xbox makes you install the XS games on the system drive. I see it's 95% full. I go to see what to delete and COD is sitting there at 300gb. WTF? How is the game that big?

Its kinda become a running joke in the COD/warzone community. They do just an AWFUL job of optimizing things, so the game file is just absurdly big (and gets bigger with every patch and update). I believe the PC version gives you the option to only install what you want (so if you just want to play multi-player and Warzone, you dont have to install the campaign) but not sure if Xbox gives you that option

But yeah....its embarrassing how much hard drive space it takes.

I just downloaded it the other day and when I booted it up it had all of the 5 or 6 most recent Call of Duty games in it. They made it a Call of Duty launcher with all of the games. I didn't see an option during install to only include Black Ops 6 so I think it may be installing all those games together.

I had to uninstall everything cod related and then go to the store page, and then I was able to download just the base game and multiplayer for blops 6. Don’t know whether this will work yet though, install is going to take a while, and it may tell me to do the 300gb update when I try and open it later anyway

Picked up a G29 wheel for black friday. 130 off.

I had the xbox version G923? Stopped using when i got PS5. I had a converter to use the Xbox wheel on my ps4 and it worked most of the time on my ps5 but it was a bit wonky setup.

Will go back to playing forza gt and f22 now with the wheel just to change it up.

I suck but it makes it fun and frustrating

G29 is for gran Turismo?

I have a g29 as well and that is the game I bought it for.

Are you going to play GT7 online?

I haven't picked it up for a year or so, but would always look for a reason to pick it back up. I was not good when i put it down though, you really need to practice each of the turns before racing online.

I would take a look at Ghost of Tsushima, if you're cool with swords instead of guns. You'll be hard pressed to find a prettier game on console. Great story and gameplay too.
Top 5 of all time for me along with RDR 2

Lived in that world for 4 straight months doing planned out hunting trips everywhere.

Simply amazing world.

First of all, unfortunately, the latest COD is terrible. MWII from two years ago is better than the past two releases.

Secondly, I feel like the COD franchise is shooting themselves in the foot. They are not listening to their customers.
DMZ was a huge hit in MWII and they completely abandoned it and instead threw a zombie version in last years game and the old "round based" style zombie this year.
Not only that, the file size you're talking about is ridiculous. They will constantly force load game modes and maps and will REMOVE game modes you may enjoy.
They provide no option during updates, etc.

I'm glad the most recent Black Ops 6 was included in Game Pass. I wouldn't be too happy had I paid for it.

Insurgent Sandstorm is exactly the type of FPS that I still enjoy. Leans more realistic without being oppressively so. Played it until 2AM the other night. So much fun.

What Modern Warfares would you recommend for the single play offline campaigns?

Give me your top 5 if you don’t mind.

I gave up on online multiplayer twitch shooters years and years ago.

But I love military action big time. I had played the Tom Clancy games which were a lot of fun and I loved all the Sniper Elite games with 4 and 5 being truly amazing.

I do have Modern Warfare 3 and Cold War that I got dirt cheap and have yet to play, any others with great campaigns?

I don’t really play many pvp matches. We mostly do co-op vs bots. This game reminds me a lot of the old rainbow six games used to be on the PC

I was going to get this but its online only right?

Not sure. Played it on game pass and just dove into the co-op online. Didn’t check if there was a single player or not.

ETA- single player has bots only. Fun but I wouldn’t pay a lot to just play maps against bots.

@Todem Sorry I didn’t really answer your question. Busy day at work. I haven’t played a lot lately.

Loved Hell Let Loose.
Rainbow 6: Rogue Spear was awesome but that was 20 years ago.

Squad based tactical shooters with no respawns are my jam.

Gotta run

Is this game cross platform?

Google says no. Dang it

1.1m twitch viewers are watching a log in screen for Path of Exile 2.

No one can get into the game as the servers are on fire :lmao:
Yeah think I'm going to wait on this one but it will be tough.

And FO76 has pulled me back in anyway.
I am waiting to but I am interested in watching. Hopefully they can figure this out soon.

From their video late last night, the game developers GGG appear to have severely underestimated how many people were going to try and get into the early access, as they broke through a million buys last night.

Indiana jones. Wow.
Is it good?

Only played about 30 min. Felt like i was in the movie so yeah. Need more time on it. Its on my laptop. Need to plug it up to my tv so i can big screen it
I need to wait for it to come out on the PS5 sometime next year. Anyway, add to the list
Yeah same here. I sometimes get a little nauseous from FPS games but will probably have to give this a run…..

I almost bought that the other night. But I ended up getting "Six days in Fallujah" instead.
It's still an early release game, but plays really well, and is pretty intense.

I cant provide a comparison game because It's the first FPS I've played in years, due to nausea from those types of games. I guess 10 years of iRacing must have cured that.
But the videos look a lot like Insurgent Sandstorm

Wife had a company Christmas party tonight so I invited my 21 year old nephew over, thinking we could have a couple drinks to help him take his mind off his recent breakup

Well, I’m a couple bourbons in, and we’re watching the Call Of Duty League. Apparently tonight is the start of a new season

These nerds are playing video games for FBG money

Playing Ghost Recon Wildlands with permadeath on extreme.

My first operative got a little too careless and died like a dog in some nameless canyon.

New guy is more patient. He wears a boonie hat and is (literally) always smoking a stogie.

I loved Wildlands.
I'm not sure I have the balls or skilz to play on permadeath. But you have inspired me?
