Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (4 Viewers)

Anyone else hoping to snag a 5070 Ti tomorrow or am I the only idiot?
Did you get it? If so how do you like it?
It'll be delivered by Tuesday. It's about 12 miles from me now so I'm hoping for tomorrow.
Got it and ran it through a bunch of tests last night. It's quite powerful. Benchmarking places it about 4-8% faster than the RTX 4080. Not a significant increase over the previous series but between DLSS4 and the price, I'm quite happy with the card and have a new build that will be quite powerful for the next couple of years.

DLSS 4 is insane. I was surprised at how clear and smooth DLSS 3 was on the RTX 4060 and am now impressed with how crisp and sharp textures and other environments are with DLSS 4. I haven't played around with settings too much yet but using the NVIDIA's basic optimization settings in their driver app, I am getting ~310-320 fps in Cyberpunk. When I cranked everything up to the max levels including ray tracing, reflections, shadows, lighting, etc, I am getting ~115-120fps. I can notice a difference between DLSS 3 and DLSS 4 and I am not an expert in video game graphics. That said, DLSS 3 is extremely powerful and if you want impressive graphics without spending a small fortune, I'd go that route.

But pricing and inventory is the crazy part right now. I haven't seen an RTX 4080 or better cards selling for lower than $2200 in the past few months that I've been watching prices which is why I was previously eyeing the RTX 4070 Ti Super. I just got lucky, snuck in, and snagged a deal that will complete the build.
i was able to get a 4080 laptop on black friday for around 2K

My 1080 Ti started crapping out (which started this whole saga) that weekend. I missed all the Black Friday deals. That's a great price though. Damn.

Don't know if anyone else has tried POE2, but it's the closest thing I've played to D2 in years. Really enjoying it as an ice strike invoker monk.

I love POE. I would always choose the builds that just let you walk around pulsing damage out automatically, no real clicking. Made you feel so powerful.

Does POE2 have such builds too?

I'm still deep into Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This game has become one of the most engrossing games I have ever played, right up there with Skyrim, Elden Ring, and Baldur's Gate 2. The game is massive - I'm 60-70 hours in and I just got to the second map. The quests / story are so well done that there's no "same old / same old" feeling. I also like that almost nothing is "simple" - even a straightforward fetch quest might take way more time because you need to sneak but your clothing is filthy and you stink and you either need to wash it somewhere or wear something else.

For me this game is worth every penny. I had played the first one to perhaps 2/3 through, and while I liked it, it didn't quite pull me in like this one has. The QOL improvements/etc made a big difference.

Just beat it. And promptly started a new playthrough. Fun as hell

Hades 2 had another big update a couple of weeks back. There will probably be a couple more as there are no hidden aspects for any of the weapons yet, but a full release this year seems like a real possibility. It's so good - an improvement on the original across the board.

For sure. Like POE1 Im sure it will vary by season, but right now spark sorc is very OP, as is gemling legionnaire stat stacker.

Avowed is a ridiculously fun game, I am about to finish it and have enjoyed every second of it. I wish it was a bit bigger and had more side quests, but that's my only "complaint" about it.

A good friend of mine is almost finished with his 'man cave'. He has a huge tv on the wall, a bar with a beer tap, funny signs all over the walls, etc.

He just got 3 video game cabinets installed:
  • Golden Tee(all versions plus bowling and shuffle board too)
  • Street Fighter II(all versions and several other fighting type games)
  • Galaga(with Galaxian, Pac Man, and some others).
How long can I spend over there this weekend without 'overstaying' my welcome? Asking for a friend. TIA

I have the Galaga machine with 60+ games and NBA jam in my playroom/arcade. Unfortunately don’t currently have room for a third in there. Need to get out of Florida and get a basement.

I haven't really played video games in like 20 years but my wife has really gotten back into them lately (playing Halo, etc.. online with friends on nights I'm out of the house) so I'm jumping in here and there on some couch co-op games we can play together - if anyone has any recommendations?

So far

Loving - Split Fiction
Loved - It Takes Two
Really liked - Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Like - Overcooked series
Didn't care for - A Way Out (but maybe gave up too quick or suffered from playing it after It Takes Two)

Bump for a big list project I've just posted up, in case people just have notifications when this thread is posted in:

Everyone's input is welcome

Alternating between Kingdom Come Deliverance II and NCAA football.

KCD2 is phenomenal.

NCAA - started an online franchise with s7uttmonkey, he’s Army, I’m Navy. I’m not the player I once was but I’m having fun.

I throw a lot of interceptions. A LOT.

Rumored for months, the Elder Scroll Oblivion Remaster is available.... TODAY!

They just revealed. It looks incredible. Essentially Elder Scrolls 6.
Purchased it…..after I finish Indiana Jones and The Great Circle (fantastic as well btw) we are all over this.

Say goodbye to another 300 hours of my life.
Same. As soon as I finish Cyberpunk, which is insanely fun, I'm sure I'll neglect my diet and self-care regimen for Oblivion for the 2nd time in 20 years.

It’s on gamepass for Xbox users.

I played it for about an hour last night. My only gripe is that the countrysides are still completely barren of wildlife and really just empty with nothing going on. Always my issue with Bethesda games.

After playing KCD2 which is teeming with wildlife, bandits, nobles being slaughtered and enemy camps hidden through the wilderness,I’m not sure I can ever go back to that.

BP looks at his 14:18 TD:INT ratio and with a puzzled look on his face asks in his best Gary Coleman impression Whatcha talking about bro?

No. We’re talking 11 TDs- 29 INTs.

It’s bad. I’m starting to wonder if it’s because Navy runs an option and I have changed my playbook to spread or Pro style.

I feel like the only way to beat the computer on all American as if you use exploits or maybe I just need better players because I stink

If anyone here has college football for the Xbox and can pass against the computer on all American.-

Please let me know if you’re down to play me and teach me a few tricks because I need it badly

very possible. Teams recruit based on thier playook so a running QB may or may not be a good passer. Is this dynasty/franchise? If so, you may need to recruit better players. I thought the last NCAA football game was rather easy on All-American. Now Heisman....so make sure yours isn't on Heisman or did they make All-American the highest one now?

In my experience with this year's NCAA(completed a whole 30 year dynasty, the last 20 or so seasons on Heisman) ....until you get REALLY good at the game or have an absolutely loaded roster....you should be turning down the sliders for interceptions (for both you and the AI) Plenty of decent slider sets to try over on Operation Sports and then you can tweak for your own skill level.

It will result in the AI dropping plenty of passes that look like they should be no doubt about it picks....but that's more of an animation issue (since the game really doesn't have a lot of good looking Pass defend animations for DB's) Even doing that, I still had rare games where I'd make dumb decisions and throw 3 or 4 picks (or the AI would just make a GREAT play on a 50/50 ball) but it never felt unfair.

Also might want to experiment with the different passing mechanic options that the game has. I used the Revamped Passing but some of the big content creators swore by Power and Accuracy.

And as you play the game more, you'll find that certain routes work GREAT and others just NEVER seem to be open. AA and Heisman are 2 different animals, but I would say the best routes are short Crosses, deep corners (Gotta REALLY emphasize aiming towards the sideline and throwing right at the top of the route, otherwise the corner undercuts) and short zig route type stuff. Sideline curl routes can also work with good timing but sometimes they get jumped.

No matter how good me and my roster got I never had ANY success running anything medium to long range in the middle of the field. Any sort of deep post was a no go. If I could buy a lot of time I could occasionally hit a medium length crossing route...but that was pretty rare.

RPG lovers, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is out today and is the best reviewed game of the year so far getting over 90 on metacritic. Been holding off getting Oblivion for this game.

What a week for gaming.

I have 3 sets of sliders on Operation Sports

Two different AA sets and one reslly good Varsity set which is my personel set of choice.

Armor & Sword is my handle on OS.

I also have a set of recruiting house rules.

My backlog is absolutely jammed, but Oblivion may cut the line.

Oblivion is the first RPG I ever played. Remember way back in my younger years mostly playing just sports games thinking how much of a nerd you had to be to play wizard games, then I waltzed into a Gamestop looking for something diffferent and bought the GOTY edition for $20 (this was back about year before Skyrim, so like 09/10).

I've loved the genre ever since.

@STEADYMOBBIN 22
I can buy college football for 13.99 or I can get this EA play for 5.99 a month. Which one should I do? Which one do you have, the physical game?

I bought it for like $30. A week later it was $16. (Digital version)

Depends - Im not a big EA guy/ I dont like to support them and I dont like most of their games so I would be a single purchase guy. YMMV

I'm now 6 RPGs I want to play behind instead of 4 (Clair Obscur looks great as well). I'm never going to catch up.

Im sure you all have been wondering and having sleepless nights worried about an Update on my NCAA progress….

I seem to have turned the corner. I have to essentially hot route to death and use a lot of motion. Maybe this changes when my players get better but it’s a grind for every touchdown.

I have a freshman RB who is a stud - speed and power and I have a bruiser lower back. It’s working really well and a lot of fun.

I still hate playing on AA because the defenses are unrealistic but on Varsity I’m unstoppable.

I can deal with that - The only problem that infuriates me is the unrealistic throwing physics/ 10 yard fight-esk ability for defenders to pick off passes that are actually thrown 30 yards over their head.

If they can never fix that, I would be in heaven

That's my approach as well. On O, hot routes or changes at the LOS. On D, picking a blitz and audibling out or vice versa in the particular D package I want seems to help?

I miss the days where I could get 20 sacks a game with Bruce Smith but I guess "the people" want scores and stats closer to reality. . .

Huge news...GTA6 delayed until next may.

Will be some ripple effect here, as there were a few pretty big titles that were considering their own delays just so they wouldn't have to go up against it in the Fall. Now that release window is wide open

I’m not sure this will ever live up to the hype. I certainly won’t be paying full price, especially it it wil

I disagree. Even if it used the same skin as GTAV and was just a new map and story, I'd be itching to play ASAP. 6 is going to take me back to my days of planning PTO days around a game release.

Don't game as much as I used to. I've been playing some old classics that I've downloaded on the Switch. In the middle of Super Metroid, and Super Ghouls and Ghosts. And I fire up Bubble Bobble pretty regularly.

Late the party on this one, but I'm probly half way thru Zelda BOTW. Always been a huge Zelda fan. It's a pretty awesome game. I've heard Tears of the Kingdom takes Zelda to the next level.

Not sure if it's too late, but if you've been waiting to get an Xbox, I'd buy it now. Prices set to go up quite a bit. And Xbox games are now expected to cost $80 (!), probably later this year.

Console gaming is going to have a bad crash of epic proportions.

I just ordered a PS5 slim disc version (screw the Pro.....don't need it and no disc player) as a back up to my fatty disc PS5

I have 100's of games between PS4 and PS5 and remasters of PS3 classics and PS2 classics......I am set. I am not....I repeat not jumping to the PS6 whenever that comes out....single player offline games are going to die on consoles. Budgets are completely out of control and they are bleeding billions.

Atari 2600 kinda cartridge crash we are talking.

Mobile games increaed 2000% in the last decade while consoles are BLEEDING cash. and they are raising prices!!!! and games will soon....very soon cost $99 for standard non deluxe releases.

It's crazy.

I am good. My back log is loaded the rest of my video gaming life. have all the sports games I will ever need, all the RPGS I will ever need. Will I still pick up games? Oh yeah...when they are 70-90% off on PSN.

I was never an Xbox guy until I found out about Gamepass. Makes it so worth it.

Right now, Indiana Jones, Oblivion Remaster, Atomfall, and Expedition 33 are all on Gamepass.

Game prices are funny. They've been the same since the 90s. I remember spending $59.99 on new SNES games. Price increases are way overdue inflation-wise.

I think it was DLC that held this off for as long as it has. $60 game that is also a big upsell magnet for DLC.

The problem is DLC prices have gotten insane. It was one thing when cosmetics came in a pack of 5 for $1. Now you see games where it's $20 for a character skin or an emote. If they raise game prices, they've gotta cut DLC prices by 90%. But they won't.
