Halo. :IBTL:
Why?
The  was mostly for these crap-ola games taking my ifriends away from gears for all of a week until they start using Halo as coasters. Also what Arhn said. I never got the love for Halo.
We played MW2 and BC2 for four and three months each. The party ended right about the time you decided to take the plunge on both....

I do miss the Saturday afternoon FBG sessions. Manback always cracked me up.

The more I learn about this the more I suspect it's going to blow. They had a guy on staff who already created a lot of gambling games so they put those in. Ammo will have weight (admittedly I have mixed emotions about that, ammo should have always had weight but I'm used to using it as alternative currency now). The graphics haven't been upgraded much - if at all.

Worst of all: Vegas wasn't hit by nukes so there's no destruction/wasteland. There's no "fallout" in Fallout now. Doesn't look like there's any sense of survival/scavenging. No "ruins" to explore. It really looks like Just-Another-Game.

Hope I'm wrong.

Mini Review: Halo Reach

- The first thing I noticed is that the music is great, but the sound is kind of off. The volume of the sound effects when compared to the music is very low and it does not allow you to adjust the volume settings to my knowledge.

- The graphics once again feel like they are from 2007, but the art style is quite nice. The amount of detail has increased dramatically from Halo 3, but that's not a very high standard to strive for.

- The campaign matchmaking for online co-op games is not present at this time. Bungie says it will be there...

- The campaign itself is 6-12 hours depending on what difficulty you play on and is the same old same old. Recon, get ambushed, kill some baddies in a constant cycle while the narrative is lacking. IMO every Halo campaign is basically the same, but it does have 4 player co-op. The campaign levels do have variety in scenery but they play MUCH smaller than their size.

- Firefight matchmaking is implemented well enough and I can see it working for people in the same way as GoW horde mode does, if that's your thing.

- Grenades are much less effective. Less damage, less blast radius, longer fuse.

- Melee takes two hits to kill if the person has any shield at all. First hit takes shield to zero, second kills.

- Seasonal arena is great if you want to face a higher standard of opponents and measure up your skills.

- Sprint, armor lock, decoy, jet pack, and other new "abilities" are gimmicky crap. Think perks in CoD.

- Credits aka money that is earned form playing various games is another gimmick but doesn't do anything to hurt the gameplay.

- The gameplay feels like a slightly toned down version of the Halo everyone knows. If you have played any of the past Halos, you know what it is.

-Theater, forge, the menus system, matchmaking, and customization options are fantastic. Every shooter should lie, cheat, and steal to recreate similar products, or at least recognize the extreme quality of these features and notice how much love they get.

Overall, the game is solid product that if your a fan of the Halo franchise, you'll enjoy it. If not, I would definitely skip it. From viewing the past two days, I would have not have gotten the game due to the lack of FBG activity involved. But, differing from most of you guys, my roommates and friends are big on LAN parties and the Halo franchise is still king in that world. Even though the majority of the core guys involved play CoD, the casual players will only join in the pizza, beer, and video games if its Halo in the console.

Halo Reach: 7/10

LAN Parties: Infinity/10

:( I liked Fallout 3, but New Vegas feels like an expansion pack so far. And when you think about the fact that it's about the graphics are about the same as Oblivion, meh. I might wait for a price cut.

Matchmaking: 8.5/10 IMO. Campaign actually seems pretty good from what I've played but I doubt I put down matchmaking to go back to campaign.Battle Rifles - The standard of halo weaponry from H2 and H3 is now called a DMR and is single-shot. Less powerful without the bullet spray (4 shots are a rarity now), but still a gun I use the most.Sprint is the best perk IMO. Especially with a hammer equipped.I love arena and the rating system. This is what makes the game so good for me.Overall I think it's better than Halo 3(which it should be), coming from a guy that's played a minimum of 15-20 hours a week(on average) since the release. But I agree with your review for the most part.

Hey guys, is it good if you get two nukes in one game?
No boosting. When we ran as a FBG crew there was I believe 4 of us that had nukes from time to time and Dizzle had many occasions of getting them in game after game.
 Dizzle was a beast.
What's MW2?Played 5 games the other day for the first time since we all used to run together. 2 Nukes. But I guess there are alot of cheaters now because one Nuke I dropped had a 15 minute timer. lol.

Halo. :sadbanana:But I only play matchmaking for the most part. I'm too competitive to sit down and play campaign when I could be beasting on noobs.
aaaaaaand, how is it.Worth the scratch?
Well, it depends. I couldn't tell you much about campaign. Although it's kind of "neat" from the first mission I've played. Madshot's review was pretty accurate. But if you like matchmaking it's worth it. There are quite a few new features. And if you played Halo 2, they redesigned a few maps which I really like. Sanctuary, Ivory Tower and kind of a Midship revamp.I would absolutely buy it again if my copy disappeared.

I played the other day for the first time since around Feb/March or so. My aim is way off, but I'm happy to be scoring about even on K/D, although that's only if I play conservative and take my time. I still tend to be too aggressive and while that works when I'm on fire, right now, I'm not. I actually popped in CoD4 for the first time in over a year and had more fun with it. Although it's annoying hearing UAVs up all the time since everyone has them.

Anyone playing Halo: Reach?

I'm a COD fan myself, but I'm enjoying Halo: Reach as a change of pace. The team games for Halo > COD, lots of cool objective based games other than classic capture the flag.

I was about to start a new thread for Halo: Reach but not sure what the turn out would be.

I dunno - from the trailer, it looks like there's plenty of wasteland / places to explore. If you played FO2, New Reno wasn't rubble either, and it was fine. That's kind of keeping in line with things. One thing I would like to see is more than "one" city. In FO3, we had Megaton, and that was prettymuch it (the ship was a bit lame). I'd like to see more than that. That's what made FO and FO2 so good - the various areas, all with their own unique personality. Junktown was different from the Hub was different from NCR was different from San Fran, etc.

I've played the Halo series more than any other collection of games combined. I have 3 or 4 different XBL accounts just for Halo. So if you make a thread I will attend.

I thought about reverting back to CoD4 because that's where the MLG gamers still play. It's much tougher than MW2 IMO. Plus there's a little more teamwork involved.

Best Buy had the best deal on Halo Reach that I saw(still available)- $20 giftcard plus 500 reward zone points($10) if you are a member of the gamer zone (no charge). $62.99 after tax and free shipping to store plus $30 in gift cards.
Sold mine on Craigslist for $55. Thinking about re-buying it and doing it again.

If your looking for objective based shooting game GRAW is the way to go.

The FIFA Soccer 11 demo is now available for download from the #XboxLIVE Marketplace: http://mjr.mn/dihIx8
NBA 2k11 as well.
NBA 2k11 demo is very bare bones. It's only 1 5-minute quarter of a Lakers/Celtics matchup in Pro level and you have to play as the Lakers. No commentary and hardly any sound options. I'm thinking they're saving the good stuff for the full game.
I've waited long enough, bought Batman AA last night. So far it seems like this one should have gotten more love. I like it.
It won Game of the Year last year even over games like Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed 2.

If it makes you feel better, I still haven't gotten around to playing it. I want to, but I have so much on my plate.

It's a good game. Great atmosphere. Fun as hell beating up on Joker's goons. The stealth sequences are awesome. But after you've played it once on Normal and once on Hard, there's very little replay value, at least IMO. You're right that it deserves more kudos than it's gotten in this thread, because it's a real gem. It's in the same general tier as Dead Space, which gets all kinds of love.

As perhaps the biggest Dead Space fan on this board, and knowing full well that I'm in the minority here, I have to disagree with you. I just couldn't get into B:AA. :goodposting: Just seemed kind of cartoonish... it felt like I was playing X-Men on Genesis again or something.

Batman AA is a solid game, only great if you are a huge Batman fan.

I'm on Halo if anyone wants to join.
Failed connection."The party may have a incompatible network setting. Your setting, OPEN NAT, is usually compatible."Never had a problem joining you in CoD. :) Just noticed you logged off, but this was while your party was still joining in progress.

Time to take it to a Halo thread.

It was my runner up for GOTY in 2009 behind Borderlands. You actually do feel like Batman when you are playing that game, rather than just a icon that looks like Batman. The flow of the combat, stealth and the gadgets was done to perfection.

Mass Effect 2 is addictive in and of itself in its obtaining of materials. Buy 30 probes, hit up a new system and mine those planets like there's no tomorrow.

I am fairly disappointed in the gear aspect. It was clearly dumbed down for consoles. I loved being able to choose between different weapons and armor in ME1, working like crazy to upgrade your gear for the next mission, etc. Being stuck with crappy weapons and upgrading them all by increments just doesn't have that "fun" feel to it at all. Gear is one of the best aspects of a good RPG, and they raped it out of ME.

It wasn't really dumbed down for consoles, it was dumbed down because they went for a more main stream audience by taking away RPG elements.

Fair enough. Nothing like dumbing down a great game. Why not just make it a FPS, add some deathmatch multiplayer and maybe make sure there are some OP weapons that everyone uses in those matches and it can be like every other game out there.

Picking mine up in a couple of hours. Is this product worthy of it's own thread or should we move the conversations and comments to the OFFICIAL PS3 THREAD?

FWIW, why Vegas is relatively unscathed is an important part of the story.
