Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (4 Viewers)

Seems like it might be worth it to pay the extra $10 and get the Collector's Edition of PGA Tour 2012? Gets you five extra courses.

Wonder how this might play on the Move.

Exactly, $10 is worth it for 5 more courses. I hate the initial price though, will be searching for deals or wait a little bit. No Move myself without much interest in it, heard it's decent with the Move or on WII though. They have forums set up for 2012 at EA that talk about the demos, complaints about the caddy feature and putting.

Can you download them after the fact, like I get the regualr version than buy it onlineEDit: Just realised this is PS3 only, I may have to change my pre-order to get the extra 5 courses  no move though

Anyone besides me interested in top spin 4?
Game looks awesome.Waiting for it to be on the discount rack though.I will get it in due time though. I loved Top Spin for the original XBOX and really enjoy a great tennis game.

Picked up The Show 2011 - Best baseball game ever. Skipped 2010. Had been playing 2009. So happy I upgraded. Insanely good.

Dragon Age II - I have not started this yet as I am 40 hours into DA Origins. So probably will get to it in about 3 weeks.

Still playing NBA2K11 in my second 82 game association with the Heat. Won the title battling through 3 series that went all 7 games. Still one of the very best sports games of all time along with....you guessed it The Show 2011.
:goodposting: I can't hit for ####
I love MLB the Show 11, but I can't hit either.Last game I played, I had a bunt for a hit and 23 strikeouts.
Try the catcher 9 camera, timing hitting (using the buttons instead of the sticks) lower the pitch speed slider down 2 clicks and start on Veteran. Also go to the batting cages to really learn how to pick up the pitches upon release (sliders, curves, changes) you must be patient. If the CPU knows to are a free swinger they will kill you.

my thoughts exactly. 60 bucks is too much for a tennis game for me, will probably wait until ebay prices are like 30 to get this one

Sony's exclusive lineup looked pretty sensational a few months ago, but man has it been snakebitten. First GT5 gets delayed a couple of weeks before its original launch. Then LBP2 gets delayed. Then KZ3 gets released too early when it should have been delayed. Now Motorstorm: Apocalypse is delayed for some indeterminate time. I guess that makes sense given that the entire premise of the game revolves around a city being ravaged by a massive earthquake and tsunami, but ouch.

played and beat Uncharted for 100% trophies.

Very nice game as I expected with so many recommendations.

I was shocked though coming off of Fallout 3, Borderlands and Demon Souls, how short this game was. I finished hard mode in only 16 hours. Luckily I am a trophy whore and I suck at games so in trying to beat Crushing mode, I took an additional 25 hours or so to beat it.

Not sure what to play next, I really want a game with a fantasy bent but I am scared of the bad reviews of Two Worlds II.

yeah it is going to be on my "to play" list but I don't like to play the same type of game back to back.I am sure Uncharted 2 is going to be very fun though.

Fallout 3 takes a few hours to get into, and at times I think it suffers a little from too wide of an area to explore, but overall a very fun game. They made it, perhaps, a bit overwhelming exploring in DC. You have to get all of the transit stations just right or it can take hours to find the right place to go, which is frustrating.

Fallout 3 was a brilliant game but you are absolutely right about the transit stations. They were poorly designed IMO unless they wanted people to be constantly lost.Although IMO the best parts of the game have nothing to do with DC so you can just use fast travel to get around easily.

Are there any of the Fallout 3 DLC that is just outstanding that you really need to get? I assume you can carry your character onward from F3 to New Vegas, as well - is that correct?

No - the Fallout style has never been rolling characters. You always start over from level 1 with a completely new background. Vegas is more compact than 3 and has a storyline more in line with Fallouts 1 and 2.

I've said it before but I'll say it again: New Vegas is a better game than Fallout 3, aside from the technical issues. You don't have to suffer through a birthday party before things get going, the main quest line is more intereting, and it's WAY easier to get around.

Sony is also based in Japan. There are a lot of video game delay news and Japanese server shutdowns since the quake. I know we're gamers, but you have to understand that there are other more important issues there than making sure we get to play our games.

I played all 5 of the DLC's. I think Broken Steel is a must as it comes with the ability to grow your character from level 20 to level 30 and a ton of new perks. If you are thinking of getting this get it sooner rather than later. You can easily max out your character playing the non DLC version of Fallout 3Other than that, the other 4 have their pros and cons. The Pitt was fun I thought as was Point Lookout. You can not transfer characters from Fallout 3 to Vegas.

I always felt this was overstated as a problem for Fallout 3. This is a game that you can play anywhere from 100-150 hours. You get past the birthday point after 10 minutes of playing time.

Not sure if there are any Demon Souls fans here but I read a long preview of its successor Dark Souls and it sounds great. Longer game, more open world and even harder than Demon Souls according to the designer.

What type of game is Fallout? Seems to get great reviews but I'm wary because I get bored of stuff like GTA, Assassin's Creed, COD, etc pretty quickly.

Fallout 3 is a first person shooter RPG.The setting is in DC and the surrounding areas many years after a world war has destroyed the city.It is an open world setting with a main quest and a ton of side quests.Character building is an important part of the game and comes with the normal cadre of backpack management.Of the games you listed I have only played the first Assassins Creed and did not like it.

The delay isn't technical. The game is actually finished and has already been released in some countries. It's just a "sensitivity" delay.

Games currently occupying my gaming attentions...

Space Megaforce - Unheralded SNES shooter and a spiritual successor to Blazing Lasers on the TurboGraphix 16, which I used to love. Haven't finished it yet, there's something like 13 levels apparently and I've made it to level 8 or 9. If anyone knows of any good two-player games of this type (overhead perspective flying shooters, scrolling shooters, whatever they're called), please let me know about it. Video game bliss for me.

Pocky and Rocky - In my quest for a two-player shooter like the above I found this game, which I vaguely recollected from bygone days, perhaps even from the arcades. I don't think I understood what a gem it was back then, though. It's another one I haven't beaten yet; I can get as far as the level two boss so far but I think I'm going to need some help from a skilled Rocky to get me to the finish. My son, 5, is in training, though he doesn't exactly know it.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii - SO GOOD. Kabillion stars. Damn, Mario is clearly the best video game franchise ever, and this has gotta be the best Mario game yet made. This is why I love the Wii and can't relate at all to those who don't. My son is so into Nintendo right now, he had a stint with Mario Kart and we finished Kirby to almost 100% together and now he is honing his Mario skills. And boy is he impressed with mine, which is fun too. This game is going to be part of our family history, for better or whatever.

Oh yeah, I also started playing Okami a couple of nights ago and was blown away. The design on that game is absolutely beautiful and the story a couple of hours in was spellbinding. I love the combat in it, though some of the controls were a bit awkward. Also the voice-substitute is a little irritating, but other than that it is one of the most impressive games I have seen in a long time, if not ever.

I would recommend skipping the Fallout 3 DLC. None of it was interesting enough to warrant playing when you have the better option of moving on to the next 120+ hours of fun in Fallout Vegas

Broken Steel and Point Lookout are worth the price for DLC. Broken Steel is the true ending to the game and adds a good amount of content and another 10 experience levels. Point Lookout also adds quite a few missions and is a good sized region. The Pitt, Operation Anchorage, and Mothership Zeta are all short and much less detailed than the other two. Fallout 3 and New Vegas are two totally separate games, so no character importing.

I was at PAX East last weekend and one game I played that stood out was

. Its going to be a downloadable title this summer. You navigate this crazy planet in a little Batteries Not Included type spaceship, it has a little bit of Metroid inspiration in that some areas you cant access til you get the proper gadget. Looks cool.

Ah. Gotcha. In that case, it sucks. I can understand, but hate it at the same time. I still hate that the entire World Trade Center scene was removed from Spider-man due to "sensitivity".

If this sequel is harder than the original, I'll pass. I pretty much gave up on Demon's Souls as it was just too hard.

I haven't played any video games in a while, but I'm getting the itch again. Lots of good games coming out this year; LA Noire and Rage look like games that it'll be hard to not buy on or near their release date, but I'm looking for something to hold me over until then.

As an RPG fan, I've always been intrigued of the Mass Effect games, so I'm thinking of playing one of them. From what I understand, both the games in the series so far are excellent, with 2nd one being the better of the two. So my question is, is it better to play them in order even if I don't have an Xbox 360 and won't be able to bring my character over? I prefer playing video games on my PS3 than on my PC, but I still enjoy gaming on a PC and won't mind playing Mass Effect 1 first if it's more enjoyable to play them in order.

I think the difficulty of Demon Souls was over blown a bit. Believe when I say I suck at games and I was able to get 100% trophy level on Souls. It was certainly a frustrating game though because of the losing of souls when you died. In terms of difficulty it was easier than the crushing mode Uncharted I completed.

Yes, I would definitely play them in order if you are interested in the series. The first one is still great and sets up the story very well.

IMO there are things about the 1st one that are very much better than the 2nd, as well.

I can't think of any. I think you said you liked the leveling up better?

Loot and inventory were tons better in the 1st.

So anyone have any first hand experience on Dragon Age 2? It's the gold box of the day on amazon for $39, so a pretty good price. I'm probably getting it, but just wanted to see if anyone here has tried it yet.

Finished FO New Vegas. Had fun despite the glitch lockups - especially towards the end game. I started playing through again as a bad guy/Legion questline and wanted to go full on Unarmed/Ninja. However, I also want to play through on hardcore and that would be much more easily done with stealth, speech and guns.
Hardcore really isn't all that bad. That is the only way I play in New Vegas now.

I'm still stuck in PS2 world. Loving MLB 09 the Show, finally broke down and got Madden 10 for it though still really enjoy NCAA 09. HAve GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, and this weekend was at store with used games and saw NASCAR 06 and Tiger Woods 06 each for a dollar so picked them up. I have to admit, that for my gaming needs - I'm pretty much set and don't really see the need to go PS3 just yet. My son plays his Wii and I enjoy it from time to time, but my PS2 playlist is pretty perfect for me.

Your wallet is certainly happy :)I have a bunch of engineering buddies who are working on the Playstation 4. Hold out long enough and you can skip an entire generation :)
