Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (11 Viewers)

My son pre-ordered NHL 2013 CE yesterday. While there, the salesguy was talking about this game coming out called "Hitman" It sounded pretty damn cool. We have COD and I suck at it (Xbox360) but this seems a bit slower/sniperish.Does anyone have any info on this game, and what it may be like? Thanks!Parm
Hitman came out over 10 years ago. Could be that they are releasing a new sequel in the franchise.
Hey Drifter,Is the original a good play? I assume its not available for the 360?

I played I and II back in the day and enjoyed them - they made a movie out of the franche as well, I think. I think they were PC only. I'm not sure how the graphics hold up at this point.

They are. Hitman: Absolution is due out 2013.

Hitman 2 and Hitman Contracts were both also available for PS2.

You're an assassin. IIRC, almost all of the missions are about using stealth to get to your target. Some people absolutely loved these games. Personally, I generally don't have the patience for stealth games, but I understand the appeal.

Of course, Binding of Isaac goes on sale today for 75% off. I bought it this morning at 50% off. No worries over $1.25 though.

Will someone please purchase Trine 2 for me. Buy it as a gift so I can give it to my son. I'll paypal you the money later today. Just post here if you will do it and then pm me your email to send the funds to. I cannot log into my Steam account. I enter the info but the character recognition thing is crap and doesn't work on android devices.
MC, I have you covered.
Thanks! I'll hit you with paypal tonight. Do you get hit with fees?

Fees? No, just sales tax. Did you get my PM?

Amazon is selling Bioshock 1 and 2 for $7.49. Games worth getting, I've never played either?
Bioshock 1 might be my favorite game of all time not named Gears. Bio shock is a FPS and you have a few special abilities, think of them as magic spells you get by cramming a giant needle into your arm. Nothing about the game play makes it better then any FPS, but it's the story and the atmosphere. The art deco. The splicers... Would you kindly turn the lights off and the music up? Wear headphones if you dare.

Cool, I'll pick it up.

As stated in the Steam Sale thread, don't ever buy a game during the sale that isn't 75% off or a daily/flash deal until the last day. See if it goes on sale first.

I've been wasting far too much time on Crusader Kings II lately. I'd definitely suggest it to anyone that enjoys complex strategy games or even to people that like the Civ or Total War games if your looking for something a bit more in depth. Especially if you can find it for $10 Steam was selling it for yesterday.
I picked up the game+all the expansions for ~$13. Looks like my cup of tea.

Well thank you, Bolt! I'm very happy to get you if you change your mind. I do have the paypal app to send it now. Thank you though, very kind.

While fun, Hitman 1 is dated by now. Hitman 2 is still very playable with the core controls pretty much intact. Graphics still hold up well too. The story is so bizarre that it doesn't really matter if you start from 2 or not. Best part is Hitman 2 should be dirt cheap and play well on any system within the last 5 years. Here's the whole collection on Steam for $15. http://store.steampowered.com/sub/283/

Awesome....I will look for Hitman 2 for Xbox.Hitman Absolution is out in November, so I may check it out!I picked up a used game today called "Sniper, Ghost Warrior" for 10.00 for the 360. Was looking for a sniper type game to try out, and this seemed to fit the billA very dumb question here....is Steam only PC games?

Hitman Contracts (3rd game in the series) for the original XBox is backwards compatible with the 360. Also, Blood Money (the 4th game in the series) came out for 360. But Hitman 2 isn't backwards compatible.

Slax covered most of it but yes Steam is PC games only.

Just a heads up with all these Ubisoft games in the sale, buyer beware. The DRM is terrible and must maintain a connection even in single player. A lot of very bad reviews in the different game forums. If a game has a forum be sure to check it out for major issues.

I love Ubisoft, but yes, their PC DRM is horrible. Although, I own most of the Assassin's Creed series on PC, I find it better to buy their games on console. You can hack it so you don't have to use their DRM, but it's sad that you basically have to do the equivalent of pirating a game that you legally purchased to get it working.

1, definitely. 2 just adds more of the same which is not a bad thing. I just felt the first was a masterpiece.
1 is most definitely a masterpiece. The environment and atmosphere are probably the best ever for a video game, IMO. The game play in 2 was dramatically improved (not that the game play in 1 was bad), but because the "newness" of the environment and atmosphere had worn off after having played 1, it was not as memorable an experience. Still, a top notch game.

It's currently at 50% off, but no special sale. So, max you'll spend if you wait to see is $7.49.
Sent the PM, but for everyone else interested, Orcs Must Die is part of today's sale at $3.74. Also today, Skyrim at 50% off ($29.99), Borderlands $5 and Dead Island $10.

A few days ago, I downloaded a new PSN title called Rainbow Moon. It's a turn-based RPG, which is a genre I had never tried before. This is a tremendously good game so far, about 8 hours in. Very old-school from the gameplay to the cartoonish graphics to the text-based dialog, complete with weird translation errors. The RPG elements seem to be pretty deep, and the game appears to be really long -- it took me almost 5 hours just to leave what is essentially a tutorial area. This sort of game isn't going to be for everyone, especially considering that it plays kind of like a board game, but for $15 it's definitely worth a look.

Picked up Civilization Revolution for the 360 after seeing the talk about Civ5 and watching some youtube vids. Awesome game so far and I haven't even touched MP yet.

I'm a pretty big fan of RPG games in general, and I know Star Wars: KOTOR gets a tonne of love from people on this site, but I'm curious how dated the game is these days? I remember trying the first Half-Life last year sometime, and the graphics were so dated I couldn't enjoy the game and stopped playing after an hour or so. Does KOTOR hold up decently well these days to warrant a purchase?

With Borderlands 2 coming up in just a couple of months, I think I'm going to play through the original again. The only reason I ever stopped playing this game is because I ended up picking up a bunch of fake weapons that hackers somehow created and got into the game. For that reason, I'll probably just play offline.

I just finished my Mass Effect 3 insanity playthrough. For some reason, I didn't get the insanity trophies. I'm a little pissed because it should've been my first platinum trophy ever. :nerd:

Slax how is The binding of issac?

I picked up Payday for 5 bucks. Who knows when I'll get to play it but I'm a fan of that co-op style.

I loved the game when it came out, but I bought during last year's Steam sale and had a similar experience. Got about an hour or two in and just lost interest, mostly due to graphics. I'd also played it before though, so some of the lost interest might be due to that.

:goodposting: good find - TBRPG's are few and far between these days, especially on consoles. Also, my wife loves these kinds of games above all others, so we'll be downloading this.

There's always this nostalgia factor for these old games, but I've usually found that once you are three to five years out, it's hard to go back. Graphics take away from it, as do other gameplay advances that we get used to (for example, it's tough to play a shooter with nothing but health packs for healing these days). That said, there are a few I can still play - Baldur's Gate 2 is one, and Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is another.

FWIW I was able to play through KOTOR last year and the graphics didn't bother me. Tried the same thing with the original Deus Ex and had no such luck because I couldn't take the graphics.

I could still play Diablo 2 and enjoy it, and it's over 10 years old. Baldur's Gate is another great one.

I want through Jade Empire, which basically runs on the same graphical engine as KOTOR, about a year or so ago and while it was a little jarring at first, you get used to it after a while. It's more story driven than half life so it's not as dependent on the graphics. It's definitely worth a couple of bucks to take a shot on it.

I dont think i can finish game of thrones. Its just slow. Has anybody else played it that can convince me to put in anothet 28 hours? Or should i sell it and get something cool used like either batman game, bioshock2, or infamous2?

It's weird. You can tell it has a lot of Zelda influence, as the game is based off of exploring the dungeons and it is fun. I think it's made as a game to play when you don't want to put too much time into it, because once you die, the game is over and you have to start over (no saving) and dying is pretty easy to do. It's worth a purchase at $2. I probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

Bought it at Christmas but just started putting time into it - Metro is worth playing if you are into the Half Life FPS story heavy gameplay. I've enjoyed it.

So does that mean you can't play Ubisoft in offline mode? Or that it simply doesn't allow you to update your progress across different machines with a single account?

My internet is usually working when I play, so I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think it works in offline mode. I've seen many cracks, when searching about it, to make it work. I can try when I get home to be sure.

It's real time that you can pause at any time and can set the game to automatically pause for certain events.

One of my favorite YouTube gamer follows has been pimping a game called Loadout a lot recently. Looks like the game is in closed beta and I've only seen MP footage of it. It looks like a somewhat cartoony FPS, sorta reminiscent of Timesplitters, though much more cartoonish. The guy is playing on PC. Does anyone know if this game is going to be PC only? Has anyone heard of it?
