But everyone likes Bioshock. If Ayn Rand rose from the grave tomorrow, she would give this game her strongest endorsement and probably platinum the thing.

Going to download tonight -- cant pass that up
Downloaded last night -- plan to play this while the wife/son are out of town visiting family in AZ for 5 days. How many hrs of gameplay are we looking at here, 20-30 hrs?

Alright, I finally pulled the trigger on one of the PS3 bundles. I know this has been covered somewhere in the prior 100 pages of the thread, but what are the absolute "must have" PS3 exclusives? Uncharted 1-3, and the God of War Series are what primarily motivated the purchase. Metal gear solid 4 worth playing? The bundle included infamous 1-2- are those any good?

I really loved the Infamous series. Probably in the minority, but I enjoyed it more than Uncharted. Not as visually pleasing, but there's just something fun about shooting lightening out of your hands and surfing on powerlines.Very disappointed to see Infamous: Second Son is only going to be on ps4

Yes. This is still an awesome game that has held up well over the years.

Yes. Infamous 1 is okay. Infamous 2 is a big improvement on the original.I'd tentatively add Demon's Souls to the list of "must haves," but honestly that game isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea. Also, I think they may have turned off the servers which alters the gameplay a little bit.

You won't regeret it! It's been a few years, but I would guess 20 is on the high side. 13-15 seems about right to me.

It's better if you don't rush through it. Take your time and try to find all of the audio diaries.

I just got to the Native American character in AC3 and I am ready to just go sell this game. I don't like it really. I play the games within the game more than the mission and I don't get this simulation crap.
Did you ever play ACI or ACII?
No. I thought it was just a bunch of assassin #### in different eras and I wanted to check out the revolutionary one. That's not my main gripe though. It's just boring up to now. They jump "5 years later" etc quick without notice. I wasn't sure if I could explore anything or do side missions or if I missed stuff. Just not good IMO so far. The best part to me has been the gambling games
Keep in mind that every reputable site out there has said that AC3 was probably the biggest disappointment of 2012. Take that fwiw.
I enjoyed AC3, but (a) it starts very slow (although Haythem is an interesting character), (b) Connor is not a charismatic protagonist, and © I can't imagine playing it after not playing any of its predecessors. The story was complicated to begin with, and it is certainly starting to spiral out of the writers' control by this point. It is not an easy point to pick up the series.
I'm a big AC fan. Played all of them and completed all of the little side quests.I'm about 7 hours into AC3 and I haven't turned it on for a month. It's just not a very good game.
I'm going to try to give it a few more missions. I'm supposed to go meet Haythem now I guess. Will see if I like it more after that, otherwise, I'll take it to CD Warehouse with some others I have piled up. Maybe I will DL Bioshock and play that again.

Wow... that would be crazy.eta - well, it says it's most likely "timed" exclusives, which isn't quite as big a deal

Just read something about EA getting in bed with Microsoft - if Mincrosoft gets EA exclusively Sony should stop production immediately
The equivalent of losing to Tyson before the first bell if its 100% exclusive
Timed exclusives are fine with me. If Xbox gets a game 6 months ahead of a full release to pc and ps, I don't find that much of an issue.
But if it's 100% exclusive then its curtains. Even at 6 months - You lose nearly every single Madden player. They aren't waiting 6 days much less 6 months. That might not seem like much - but 90% of xbox owners I know use it exclusively for Madden.

I agree about any of the sports games the timed releases would be an issue.

Get the Ico/Shadow of the Collosus combo remakes. Two of the best games I've ever played. Also look into some of the PSN exclusives.

About 15 hours into ME2, and I have 5 crew members so far. I'm kinda getting tired of scanning planets. I think I did that for 2 hours last night.

Question for video game expertz. So I've been playing PC games for a while now, but in our new place I'm set up with PS3 and Xbox finally in a good environment. Looking for a fantasy RPG for PS3 or Xbox where you can build attributes of characters, get weapons, cast spells, explore a large world and fight monsters in a great combat engine. Not looking for an FPS. Doesn't matter if the game is old or new; I'll find it. Assume I am clueless about the genre. Thanks for all recs.

Started playing X-com and love it, but man this game can be difficult sometimes.Got my entire squad killed on one specific mission. :bag: How often do other people get wounded or killed soldiers?

Are there several Skyrims? If so, do I want the original? Thanks, guys.
The series is called The Elder ScrollsOn this generation of consoles, only The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are available. These two games are separated by 200 years in time. So while there are some remnants of the story of Oblivion in Skyrim, there is no need to play Oblivion if you don't want to.

What difficulty level are you playing? On normal, I didn't lose a soldier. On Classic, a couple. On Classic Ironman, I've lost three so far and I am in the third month. On Impossible, squad wipes happen all the time. The key for you may be timing. Since patch 3 was released, the teleport bug has grown in frequency. That's where you hunker down a troop and suddenly one or more alien group appear right in your midst, firing away. The teleport bug can easily wipe you right off the map. SO, I guess the answer to your question is, it depends.

I'm playing on normal so I must be absolutely terrible at this game. I notice when I lose soliders it is because they seemingly appear out of nowhere, but I also don't have very good tactics at times it seems.

Just started my third player on my player for 2k11. I've gotten bored with the others. They're too dominant, so this time I went with a center. Thinking about upgrading to 2k13, but the price is still $60.

Get them for xbox. I think the ps3 issues are mostly resolved but not worth the hassle just in case.

You'll improve. Use cover for every guy on every turn. Try to keep them from moving out of the first boundary so you can get an autowatch. Helps kill aliens when its not ytour turn. Check out the xcom thread for good tips on strategy.

Done and on the way. Thanks!

Been itching to play Metal Gear again now that I have a PS3. Think I'll get the Metal Gear HD pack. I know it's on xbox also but I've read that the PS3 controls are tighter. I can also get MGS4 now. Looks like $10-$15. So not bad.

On eBay, brand new games for 2k13 are averaging in the mid to high 40's ( including shipping) and used 2k13 games are in the high 30's right now. This is the same for Xbox or ps3.You can also get it new from Amazon for $51 on Xbox and $54 on PS3.

AA, read up on the leveling 'issue' in Oblivion. Personally, I'd skip Oblivion all together and just stick with Skyrim. You can get 200+ hours outta Skyrim alone!

I finally found the manual. You have to right click on the game in Steam and it pops up. Found some useful info there.

This shouldn’t be a massive surprise as Ken Levine recently stated that several hours of content needed to be cut from the game. It’s very likely that much of that cutting-room floor content is going to be sold seperately and offer additional side-stories into the Infinite world.

I guess for me it's kind of hard to get bent out of shape with this becuse there's no standard size to a game. How do we know what $60 of content is?I'm wondering why the content "needed" to be cut from the game. If it's just for profit then, yes, that's bogus.

But if I'm getting $60 worth of game from the initial release and the additional DLC is just that - additional - then I don't have a problem paying more for more content.

I will say that the "From Ashes" content being a DLC for ME3 was a horribly obvious money grab.
The ME3 thing is exactly what I thought of when I read that article. As far as I know, there's no technical reason why content "needs" to be cut from a game. Blu-rays hold a ton of storage space -- way more than a traditional single player game needs -- and Xbox players are used to dealing with multi-disc games. The only reason why you "need" to cut out content is to make more money on DLC.

Call me cynical, but when the game hasn't even dropped yet and they're already talking about DLC plans based on stuff that they cut from the main game, I'm assuming "money grab" until proven otherwise.
The ME3 thing was blatant. Javik had to be downloaded, but he clearly was supposed to be a big part of the main storyline and he was pretty much the best character other than Shepherd himself.
I'm sorry - that cannot be real. Right? For the sake of everything good and just in the world, please tell me that was all made up.

It is a character he plays. He is a hard core gamer and pretty intelligent in general but he creates these humorous videos with the Francis character to get certain points across (and you can't say he is wrong in this one :) )He has a bunch of "Francis" videos and some of him as himself.

Thanks, man. I will. I actually found Oblivion (Xbox) for ten bucks yesterday in the bargain bin at Best Buy, so that was fortuitous. Skyrim is winging its way to me from Amazon. I'll check the leveling thing, see if I flushed my $10 on Oblivion, and proceed. Thanks to you and everyone for all the fantastic advice, particularly given my utter lack of clues related to my inquiry.

When we mention leveling in Oblivion, it all comes down to really the very beginning of the game in how you choose your character. You have to ability to break up your skills into Major and Minor groups. But the game is a bit counter intuitive in that you really want the skills you intend to use the most to be your minor skills and the ones you intend to use less to be your major skills. Here is a link that will explain in more detail. If you have good character creation, the general leveling in the game is pretty straight forward. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Leveling#The_Leveling_Problem

:tebow: Fantastic. THANK YOU.

Just finished all 5 episodes of The Walking Dead on 360. Anyone else play this game? While it definitely had flaws, I was obsessed with this game. At first, it wasn't what I expected. I expected to be ripping through zombies with an array of weapons. Instead, it's a point and click, story/character development driven game with a "Choose your own adventure" twist. Once I got past not being able to just go GTA on the game and run around destroying the dead, I became immersed in the storyline. I'm really hoping they put out a "2nd season" of the game. Absolutely phenomenal and a game changer, IMO.
