So Civ Revolutions is the first free for gold this month so being a huge Civ fan I downloaded it. I got a domination victory in under 4 hours. Now granted I was playing on chieftain level since it was my first turn through but still. Even on the lowest level Civ was always good for way more than 4 hours to victory. I have lost whole days to Civ on low levels when I just wanted a leisurely game. I could have won sooner but I refused to build the UN. I guess we went for accessibility well it's accessible all right.

Don't want to bore you guys with Fallout. But since I mentioned the lock up thing above I started saving any time I did anything. Not one freeze all day.

Been playing Max Payne 3. I enjoyed the first one and am enjoying this one as well. I'm not normally a big fan of games that are 50% cut scenes as this one is, but the cut scenes are very well done. Bullet time is always fun as well. Tracking a bullet as it goes through your enemy's eye socket in slow motion is good clean fun.

really back into Diablo 3 with the new loot and paragon system. it's really injected new life into the game and the expansion isn't even out yet.

I've avoided D3 due to the early reviews it had. Been playing TL2 instead. Do you know how the two compare after the D3 loot upgrade?

i haven't played tl2 so I can't comment on how they compare.

Not really. They completely revamped the paragon system and it did a lot to fix the character progression. And I like how flexible character builds in D3 are. In PoE, if you make a mistake on the skill tree your only real way to fix it is to reroll. Also, many of PoE's builds are dependent on key items dropping for you.

What was unfun about Diablo before was that the loot that dropped sucked and it sucked hard. You ended up fitting your character out using the AH instead of how you're supposed to do it by killing monsters and being excited about the loot it dropped. Now, the loot is amazing and the AH will soon be gone.

This is one the exceptions where I can tolerate the extended cut scenes because they are done very cinematically.

I played D3 for a while last night, and there is a definite increase in the quality of loot. Legendary items now drop regularly (2-3 per act) and even the non-legendary loot is of higher quality and the stats are favored towards the character race you are playing, which makes things way more enjoyable. They made the Barb class feel clunky (or maybe I just need to learn a different play style with him) but the Demon Hunter seems to have gotten a little buff. It's a definite improvement over the game at release. I played for about 2 hours last night and upgraded over half of my gear that I had spent probably 100 hours farming for, but ultimately bought off the AH due to never finding anything worthwhile.

Haven't played Origins yet but my only complaint with Asylum & City is they were kind of on the short side.

Dark Souls is beating the crap out of me. I am really getting frustrated…..but in a good way. I have not played a game this hard since my NES days and Ninja Gaiden.

I will get in a good long session tonight as you have to keep pushing through and since I am dying…..like all the time right now it sometimes takes me an hour just to get through a section…..I feel like I have made little to no progress…..but I am in the getting the hang of it phase. Time will tell if I will continue with this game though.

My gaming time is precious to me and if I keep having set back after set back……I have far too many games to get to to keep going……but I am confident I will get through most of this game if I really stick to it.

On another note I am playing through the TLOU again but this time on survival. It is even better the second time around…..truly the game of the generation (PS3).

Like Todem said my gaming time is precious and I'm also a loot/upgrade whore (I love leveling up characters) so when it comes to finding the side quests and exp they offer I go to the wiki so I don't need to waste hours going all over creation hoping I stumble on something cool.

I'm a big fan of the main game. Critical reviews of this add on are positive. But those aren't FBG reviews...

Finished last night.

Great story, fills in the gaps and its just flat out great to be back in TLOU storyline. The gameplay is mostly walking, discovering, talking....not much battle, though you do have some fun scenes. There are also a few scenes that really grab you, this is a well done game.

Its about 3 hours, and I visited everywhere I could and took my time. I really enjoyed the game and it made me want to go back and play TLOU again.

That said, is it worth $15? If you compare it to the hours you get from the original $60 game, no. But if you compare it to going to see a movie, then yes, it sure is worth it.

My only complaint about AO is that I have played AA and AC so many times that I was kind of sick of the game when I started playing AO. It's not different enough for me to feel like continuing yet. I'll give it a few months and I'll play it again. I probably won't be sick of it by then. The Assassin's Creed series is the same for me.

I really want to like Origins, but compared to Asylum and City, I just don't. The tweaks they did to the combat are just awful IMO. For a game where the combat is entirely built on chaining combos, it frustrates the #### out of me to feel like all I'm doing is button mashing because there is always a bad guy who'll just waltz right in and break every combo. I just feel like they completely broke the fighting system for this game.I was going to just switch it to easy and finish it for the story, but I'm at least a third of the way through and you can't change the difficulty once you start.

For anyone or their kids who are playing Lego Marvel, what character do you use for the flying races in the city? My daughter and I can not get the hang of it.

The flying controls are really horrible. I use one of the helicopters if I am able to. They fly a lot steadier for me than a character does, and I feel I have a lot more control. If I can’t use a helicopter (i.e. if the race goes under bridges that are too small for a helicopter) I typically use Silver Surfer. Honestly, I don’t know if he’s any different than Iron Man or whatever, but I beat a particularly tough race with him, so he’s my go-to. On a couple races, I start with a helicopter and jump out of it before reaching a tight spot and that seems to help. Good luck!

they are the suck. Not sure ill ever get the one that starts on the air ship and goes thru the city. I found galactus to fly the steadiest

This is one where I started with a 'copter to get through the first part and bailed with Silver Surfer as soon as I got to the bridge in the city that you have to go under.

im actually in the opposite camp, and felt good when i found the pennyworth quest (i think it was Cyrus Pennyworth or somesuch), but I will most likely abandon the game after I finish the main series is over. Which, I was surprised to find out last night after I beat down frigging Bane, isn't yet over!

It's not a big issue. I just remember in other Bethesda games there is usually someone you can kill to end it. It's actually helpful though. I have been wearing the Talon Armor so every time they attack me I get some to use for repairing mine. Plus they normally have at least one assault rifle or machine pistol which again comes in handy for repairing what I am carrying not to mention the ammo. I do love that after wiping out several groups of them they are still sending people armed with knives.

I have basically gone into Skyrim walkabout mode and am wandering the wilderness looking for trouble and profit while ignoring the main quest, I figure dad isn't going anywhere.Got my caps over 1000 now and am pretty well supplied. During the week I am just wandering around. This weekend I intend to finish chapter 2 of the survival guide and take the next step on the main quest.

Yeah the wandering is what makes these big games fun for me. Feel like I am doing pretty good with the skill books. IIRC I have found 7 so far. And I have 5 of the bobbleheads.

I'm not going to admit how many hours I put into this game without knowing how to turn on the Pip Boy light. I don't know how many hours you have in the game but I'm guessing you figured this out about 50 hours before I did.

Deathclaws - 0 Lone Wanderer+Dog - 2 .

Was wandering around in the NE corner of the map and came across a town while looking for Oasis. Walked into what appears to have been a deathclaw convention. After killing two I managed to get out. Used all my flamer fuel and most of my mini-gun ammo doing it. But I did leave with their hands. Again I was amazed at how much DM affects the action. The AI will focus on him totally even while I am shooting it up. Came in really handy here. First time I had to stimpack him since I accidentally grenaded him.

I have enough time in to say this has definitely moved onto my list of favorite games.

I almost always choose good but I went evil in fallout Vegas and it was the most fun I've ever had with a Bethesda game.

I couldn't quite go bad in Vegas because those legion guys were just kinda #####, but I really liked that the other 3ish choices weren't straight "good", so there was some nuance in it. I think I've finished with 2 of the other options. It was just nice, because like NC, going evil just isn't me, and I like having some option besides, well, I'm not going evil, so I'm just "good".

So far the best find I have made in Fallout has been Dogmeat. That dog is a killer. By the way they seem really serious about collecting this bounty on me. Is there someone I can kill or do I just get to keep turning mercs into cannon fodder?

I was standing there pointing my combat shotgun right at his face from less than 3 feet away. Luckily for him I wasn't sure if I needed him later. If I knew I didn't he would have been finished just for being a complete doosh. But I generally won't kill people that don't have it coming and I am generally more willing to help than hurt an NPC.

Already defused the bomb so I won't be blowing up Megaton. I also found out earlier that is why the Talon Mercs are after me. Apparently Mr Burke hires them if you defuse the bomb at any point in the game.

Blowing up Megaton is actually one of the more fun things to do in the game. Plus, I think you get a nicer place.

But it is one of the most karma negative things you can do in the game.
