Got my ### kicked a couple times while wandering around in FO last night. Completely forgot about the Talon Co. Mercs sitting around the corner from the Arlington library. Was getting fired on by a sniper rifle and rocket launcher. Then later I walked a little too close the cemetery by the mutant infested Police HQ. Loved every second of it!

Just finished Dead Space 3 and I thought it was a blast. Not sure why it wasn't as well received as the others, still creepy as heck but I guess the novelty wears off after the first two games. My biggest problem was the game save mechanics, particularly at one specific point in the game there is a glitch that anyone thinking about playing should be aware of. When you get to the point where you are being chased by two regenerating necromorphs while waiting for the tram to arrive DO NOT SAVE AFTER YOU GET ON THE TRAM! It will tell you that progress is saving and all that but it's not, only your inventory is saved so if you stop at that point you will be back in the room being chased by two regenerating necromorphs when you restart and that sequence is a PITA. You should complete the entire conning tower side mission before saving.
Otherwise it was a top notch installment of the series and I hope they make another one.

Starting Arkham Origins. How far back is this supposed to be in the origin of Batman? I only played the initial mission (where you fight Killer Croc) and it seems like it must take place only shortly before Arkham Asylum (Croc was being transferred in the intro of AA), which would explain why Batman's tech seems so solid.

I honestly have no idea. Some casual guys keep talking like no one knows Batman then Black Mask puts a hit on you for all the assassins. The cops dont know or like you and Joker is new to the game. Penguin is younger but then all the tech is better than Arkham City. And Bane is here. So wtf?

Yes enjoying Batman AO a lot.
I love the crime scene investigation sequences a lot. Very nice touch. Really feels like your Batman in every way. The free flow combat is as smooth as ever. Interactive Batcave as well. So some cool things in the third game. Each one has it's own personality. AA was just a marvelous first entry with the most diabolical story thus far. City was just a tremendous upgrade and huge environment. And so far Orgins feels like a nice prequel for the Batman universe.
I am at the murder scene in the towers so very early into the game. I did do all three of the bomb diffusing missions (Anarchist).

I think my problem is going to be with maxing out XP. The game is pretty tough on giving bonuses for using good fighting techniques. It's cool because the developers are clearly trying to discourage button mashing but it's almost impossible to get a ten attack combo going when you are fighting three guys and knocking them back 5 feet with two attacks.

EnjoyAll this FO3 talk reminded me I had that and New Vegas still sitting in plastic. I unwrapped FO3 the other night and started in on it. I've just exited the vault and am pretty stoked to start this whole thing

I am playing New Vegas right now as a company man for the NCR -- once I am done with main story line I will do all the add-ons w/ that character and do all companion storylines, then, after that, likely start from scratch and do an evil legion character who masters in unarmed and melee, who lives off the land (survival), and after that a mad scientist who uses laser weapons and explosives and sides with Mr. House
that's probably another good 100+ hrs there.

So Xbox 360 has Gotham City Imposters as the free Game with Gold this month. It's a pretty fun game, but I have to say that this is a cheap choice, as the game has been free to play on PC for about a year and a half. I got it free with Arkham Asylum and Arkham City in a bundle during a Steam sale before it went free to play. The only difference between this and the F2P version is that you don't have to pay for a lot of the upgrades. Try it if you have a 360. At least we have Battleblock Theater coming mid-month.

Just saw the trailer for Metal Gear Solid V. Looks weird as hell, but good graphics. I was kinda enjoying it until the end when I heard Jack Bauer yelling. I had forgotten Kiefer Sutherland had taken over as Snake, or I guess Big Boss in this one, and it was really jarring. I think they made a bad choice going with such a name actor. Knowing the old Snake voice and Sutherland so well, it just doesn't seem to fit.
Big mistake in my opinion, and I think it may actually take away from the game.

I played the first two metal gear solid games and I'm thinking about picking up the collection with all the games, but they just get so damn weird. I want stealth espionage, not a naked guy jumping around holding his crotch.

thats not a glitch. That was a side mission. Theres two different saves. One for inventory and one for checkpoints.

So I was enjoying Batman AA until I got to a cutscene where Bat catches up to Joker while following fingerprints of Harley Quinn. Joker has a guard in hand, and Batman tells Joker, "You need to stop this before it goes too far." Are you crapping me? Sooooo, writers of said video game, what you are saying is it was NOT too far when he killed dozens upon dozens of prison guards and innocents and freed hundreds of hardened criminals? Exactly when will it be too far?

Whatever you want to call it it is a terrible oversight to not enable a legitimate save point (ie non inventory) for over 30 minutes of gameplay. It sucked getting to what you think is a progress save point (and I also did a manual save) and getting bounced back in the middle of one of the most hectic points in the game.

Standard comic fare. The story in the game was written by Paul Dini, who has been writing for DC Comics for years. This isn't someone who doesn't know his source material.

No, that is not standard comic book fare. I collected comics for years in the golden age, the 80s, and I know comic book fare. That's lazy and sloppy. It's as if he didn't even know or consider the context and just threw a crappy line in there.

I haven't played much yet but I agree that the story doesn't seem like it's going to be the strength of this game, which is a disappointment for a gamer like me.
And the Batman character in these games is so completely devoid of emotion that he is kind of boring.
However I really enjoy the visual style and combat dynamics so far. In most games I play I end up playing as a ranged fighter that rarely has to resort to melee, and usually my opponent is significantly weakened by the time it comes to that, but the Batman games flip that dynamic and force you to get up close and personal and I really enjoy the look and feel of the melee combat in these games.

I think throwaway lines like that are canon to the series. I don't know how you can expect Batman to not be told like Batman. And by the same guy who has written it in comic, animated and video game form for over 2 decades now. The game won several awards for its story alone in a very loaded year.
Also, I agree with Insein that if that line irritates you that bad, you should stop now, because the ending was rather pathetic after having a solid lead up. I have a feeling there was some other reason that forced you to stop playing, rather than some throwaway line that would be forgotten in a couple of minutes. If it's not for you, it's not for you.

This game is good. I haven't enjoyed a PC game in years, but this brings me back to Ultima, Baldur's Gate (etc).
They got the mechanics right, it's wonderful graphically, and there are all kinds of choices in character build (no set limits - your fighter can take a spell school, etc). It's a little under what Baldur's Gate 2 / Planescape were in terms of NPC interaction, but nobody does that like Bioware anyway (and even bioware never equaled what they did in those two games.)
If you liked isometric RPG's on the PC, this is as good as it gets today.

On a whim I did a few searches and finally found that game I was looking for. Imperium Galactica. That was it. I had a blast with that game. I am now going to try to figur eout if I can download it somewhere.

I just searched that for the heck of it. Not there, which means it will probably be pretty hard to find a good, legal copy. They are the best place I know of to get old games.

Went everywhere. Found Dogmeat. Now I have him and Fawkes. Killed a ton of things the three of us. Happened upon some wastelanders who were looking for oasis. Tried to kill me. Didn't work. Got a map to Oasis. Find it. Saved before I did it's mission.

My machine is three years old. I have a 3.3ghz, 8gb ram, and an Asus GeForce GT 430 1GB (not really a "gaming" card at all). Works good on "ultra" settings and great on "high" (there's also medium and low which both look decent.)

No, but I've found the general rule to be let the great games of the past stay in the past. Most of the games I loved that I tried to replay were a bit of a disappointment.
