Anyone have any experience with this game?Out of the Park Baseball 14 (2013 season) is in the Humble Bundle this week. Tempting to throw a buck and try it.![]()
I was soooo loving Micro League baseball in HS and freshman year of undergrad. . .
I rarely buy games at full price upon release, but I've pretty much decided that I'm going to with Far Cry 4 and Witcher 3. Also considering Destiny, but not completely sold yet. Not that this helps you make a decision,..What PS4 game should I pre-order? Trading in Watch dogs and BF4 right now and have a $53 credit to spend.![]()
Not this one but I used to love the baseball sims. From friends who have continued to dabble they love the series (haven't talked to them about that edition though).Mad Cow said:Anyone have any experience with this game?Out of the Park Baseball 14 (2013 season) is in the Humble Bundle this week. I have this one and it works great with nba 2k14http://m.target.com/p/logitech-f310-gamepad/-/A-13670128Bought FIFA 2014 (PC) when it was on sale on Origin ($15) a week or so ago, and been having a ball playing soccer. Still on the amateur level, but starting to win more than I loose. It's true what they say, soccer is way more fun to play (even virtually) than it is to watch (apologies to soccer fans).
Side note: I think I need to pick up a nice XBox controller for my PC, the one I have "works", but the button numbers don't match and it's getting harder with every "controller" game I get to figure out the controls.
Madden was just an example. My wife and I (we'll just say both early 30's) enjoy playing a video game together every now and again. We have the PS3, Xbox360 and Wii - and I don't plan on buying any other system going forward, don't really play enough of them enough to justify $300 or whatever just for a new system. There's nothing stopping us from just playing the games we already have and such, just wondering how long we'll still have the ability to obtain "new games" together. We love playing the "Lego" games, Little Big Planet games, and some random 2 person co-op type games like Left 4 dead. If we'll still have the ability to get newish titles until we're about 40, I'll be happy. That reasonable?Oh, thanks for correcting me. I hadn't realized the PS2 releases went for that long.I know your just guessing but remember….there are tons of people still playing and will continue to play PS3/360 for many years to come.Sorry, to clarify, I'm saying that you'll get one last installment in 2015 (eg, "Madden 2016") which would be 2 calendar years since the launch of the new gen systems in 2014. That's just my educated guess though...So, for instance, Madden 2015 will be the last Madden on the PS3 or XBox360 (because all platforms had a Madden 2014 - 25th anniversary, correct)? Man, that's sad....In terms of sports games, I'm guessing next year will be your last annual installment from EA. I think they cut off the prior generation systems 2 years after the launch of the current gen systems in previous cycles.Just curious, but how long will the PS3 and Xbox360 be relevant? For instance, how long will it have an annual installment of Madden or other annual games?
On PS2 Madden 12 was released!!!
So they made Maddens for 5 more years after PS3 was launched. I expect them to at least give us 2 more annual released after Madden 15. So maybe Madden 17 will be the last one.

I think over the next 4 years it will be very reasonable to get new titles on the PS3/360. After that it will be very tough sledding. But there are so many great games between 360/PS3 you should be busy for years on the back log plus any new titles.Madden was just an example. This is about where I am. I will probably NEVER complete all the PS3 games I want to due to a lack of playing time. So I'll keep mine until I can no longer go to Gamestop and get games for it.I know for myself I have another solid 2 years of life on my PS3 with my back log of titles. And that is not including the amazing sports titles I have with classic rosters. So I am in no rush to buy a PS4. I figure 3 years from now I will do it. By then I feel the games will be far along enough to have a true next gen wow factor.
I'm now on Episode 3 of Season 2, haven't started it yet, but I'm dying for episode 4 and finally episode 5. I don't want to play it cause I know I can't play anymore. Great story.Jurassic Park was very rough, but I found Back to the Future to be great. Of course, I'm a huge fan of the movie, so playing the game felt like a new set of movies and I really enjoyed that. It's set up more like a old-school adventure game than The Walking Dead is. You won't find any QTEs in BTTF, at least that I recall.Don't go into Back to the Future with to high of hopes. It was there first game I believe and the Walking Dead was the first great game they made. I beat Jurassic park which was made after Back to the Future by them, and it was rough at times. I could see the inspiration and effort but they definitely honed their craft through trial and error.I know I'm late and all but I just finished The Walking Dead on my ipad. I've had it for some time and I'm going to jump into the next episode right away but that game was sweet. Great story, hope the second one matches this one.
I have the Back to the Future one, it was on sale, but haven't played it at all. Can't wait to see what they do with Game of Thrones. Hopefully it won't be choppy like this one was at times. Intense.
Also, Telltale had a ton of other games before BTTF. They revived the Sam and Max series as well as Tales from Monkey Island (all outstanding games), and had several other games under their belt too. I think the problem with JP is that they were moving into a more action oriented adventure game such that The Walking Dead turned into, but JP was the first attempt at that formula and the gameplay suffered because of that. The story in JP was ok.
Jurassic Park is ok, story wise. Never tried Jurassic Park from them. Haven't done BttF but may have to pass the time to episode 4. Can't wait for Game of Thrones. That is, hopefully, going to be a great game.
Playing it on PC.Anyone playing Marvel Heroes Puzzle Quest? Discovered it recently for Android, fun story puzzle game that drives you for unlocks and levels, though I get pissed when I complete a hard level going back for rewards and keep getting just 20 Iso.
My boss at work has been playing it for almost a year and he got me to try it. I didn't think I'd play it much, but it's a nice little time waster to play while I'm watching the kids during the week. It's taken too much of my time, really. But I can't stop. I wish there was a way to sync the mobile and PC versions so I could play on the go without starting over. I have a team of 35 right now. From what I can tell, there are a couple of pretty powerful one stars. I have Black Widow modern and with her stun and steal abilities she's a monster against high health single bad guys. Same for Iron Man 35.Playing it on PC.Anyone playing Marvel Heroes Puzzle Quest? Play the single player challenges and don't be afraid to play the versus. That's where you start getting better rewards. (Also, don't spend any ISO or Hero Points on the standard 1-star hero packs. You'll get more of those than you can handle before you know it and the drop rate for 2-star or higher is very small and not worth spending money on.
And yeah, working hard for only 20 ISO sucks.
They're good starters, but you won't need to spend anything for them. They'll come naturally. And once you start filling out the roster with more 2-stars and 3-stars, you'll likely start dropping 1-stars. I only have two 1-stars left on my roster, but they're first to go if I come across someone new to add and I can't afford any HP to buy a new roster spot. From what I can tell, there are a couple of pretty powerful one stars. Yeah, I wasn't really expecting much, but this is a really good game so far. I never played Halo and I truly hated Borderlands, so I didn't think I would like this game. It's a very pleasant surprise for me.Anyone doing the Destiny Beta this weekend? I'm really enjoying it. I'm finding the missions better than the PvP but PvP is still good. So many guns, armor, and ships. I hope the release in September is as good as the Beta. Hopefully the content is there.
ive only played as Hunter so far but I got lucky and got a sniper rifle around level 3 or so. It's been good though now that I'm at level 8 it's not all that powerful. I think a lot of loot will be available for the full release that we just can't get yet. The munitions store should cover pretty much whatever you want your load out to be. This is what I hope anyway. I really like the codex part, such a unique system to out in the game. Different ways to get different weapons...not something I've seen in any game other than this one. Pretty smart.Yeah, I wasn't really expecting much, but this is a really good game so far. I never played Halo and I truly hated Borderlands, so I didn't think I would like this game. I haven't gotten a chance to do much PvP, but based on my very limited experience I agree with you that the missions are more fun than PvP. But then again there's going to be a lot more of both in the full game.
I'm also slightly concerned that the classes aren't quite distinct enough. I started as a hunter and got to level 8 today. Kind of disappointed that I can't get a good scout rifle or sniper rifle -- instead I'm rolling an assault rifle and fusion rifle, which makes me feel like a regular assault-class guy. For role-playing purposes, I really want something semi-auto instead. I just started over with a titan, and it plays identically so far to my hunter. Now granted, this is early-game and maybe the classes play a lot differently down the road. For now though, the differences seem pretty small. (Haven't touched warlock yet).
My son gives this a big thumbs up too. We're definitely picking this up at or very shortly after launch.
Id skip the skins cause theres no guarantee you'll want to play a second time. Crafting speed and healing speed won't break the game. It will make it less dire in the begining which might take away some of the survival experience. I'd probably go with the rifle or 9mm perk because they'll have minimal effect to the feel of the game.I am considering pre-ordering The Last of Us for the PS4 (I didn't play the PS3 version). For those of you who already played through it on the last generation, are the following pre-order bonuses from Gamestop and Amazon worth it?
Survival Pack:
Will those character bonuses (increased crafting speed, heeling speed, etc.) cause the game to be unbalanced at all?
- 100 Supply Points (XP) for use in Factions mode
- Bonus Joel Skin for use in the Single Player Campaign (must complete the game once to equip)
- Bonus Ellie Skin for use in the Single Player Campaign (must complete the game once to equip)
- Increased Crafting Speed for use in the Single Player Campaign
- Increased Healing Speed for use in the Single Player Campaign
- 9mm Reload Speed Increase Upgrade for use in the Single Player Campaign
- Rifle Clip Capacity Increase Upgrade for use in the Single Player Campaign
None of those bonuses are even close to game-breaking. No worries.I am considering pre-ordering The Last of Us for the PS4 (I didn't play the PS3 version). For those of you who already played through it on the last generation, are the following pre-order bonuses from Gamestop and Amazon worth it?

the game could come with a naked Joel Skin where he beats clickers with his shlong, and it would still be worth it. Get the game however they will give it to you.OC Zed said:I am considering pre-ordering The Last of Us for the PS4 (I didn't play the PS3 version). The game is wonderful, hard, and frustrating all in one. Near-perfect if it weren't for some camera angle issues and a strange inventory system.Sand said:Just broke down and bought Divinity: Original Sin. It is getting superlative reviews and it has been a long time since I've played a Baldur's Gate type game. Really kind of excited to delve into an RPG again - haven't playing anything like that since the ridiculous number of hours I put into Skyrim.
Since you are into this, one question that is driving me nuts (simple, I'm sure). I see where you can put the party into different formations, but I can't figure out how to select one guy to be point or have things be done from his point of view, if you know what I mean. With just my two initial folks I can switch their order, but one always seems to be up front. Any hints? The game is wonderful, hard, and frustrating all in one. All you need to do to put a char at point is to select his/her portrait.Sand said:Since you are into this, one question that is driving me nuts (simple, I'm sure). I have to give a huge thumbs up to this game. I haven't had this much fun wiith an RPG since Skyrim..
If you liked Boulder Gate, buy this game.
If you're like me, you'll endure a lot of frustration selecting a guy to move ahead of the group, to disarm a trap for instance, only to discover that when you click on the trap the whole rest of the group, still chained together, comes running over and gets everyone's ### blown off. Lot of collateral damage in this game.Yeah - I don't know how it wasn't working last time around, but fine this time. And they're gone.If anyone wants a code for the Destiny beta on 360, I have a couple. PM if interested.
I think I'm going to have to do that as well. I got my Titan to level 8 but want to see how the other classes play.Looking forward to jumping back into Destiny tonight. I want to level up my Warlock so I have a good idea of what class to roll with when the full game comes out.
Destiny looks great so far. I was watching my son play it for a few minutes this morning. Man, this fall is going to kill my wallet.I think I'm going to have to do that as well. I'm liking it but not loving it yet. There's a few things that I'm hoping are just a matter of it being a Beta that won't continue over into the full game.
The frostfall mod can be altered to suit your tastes, all the way from a slight worry to hardcore punishment. For the settings I decided on, it was difficult to deal with in the beginning, but as my character leveled up it became mostly a non-factor. I not only collected gear that helped with warmth, but I learned to go out into the wilderness prepared, with warming soups and pre-chopped wood ready to go. I ALWAYS carry a chopping axe. Of course as more and more locations are discovered, it also becomes less of an issue due to more frequent fast traveling. I've put in 300 hours on my character and only frozen to death 5-6 times, all of them probably occurring in the first 100 hours or so when I was getting used to the mechaninc. But since I have probably 100 mods installed, including a realistic needs one (food, water, sleep), your mileage may vary.So I spent the first half of the weekend learning how to mod my skyrim game after completely hating the UI. After getting it all tricked out I started playing again yesterday. Enjoying the game, with all the mod's it looks great, and the new UI is so much better on PC then the one they designed around consoles.
Right now I'm only using the new UI, and some of the graphics and lighting updates. Unfortunately my video card is pretty much maxed out right now so I don't think I can take any more graphical mods. I'll probably look into some of the additional content mods next.
The modding community for these games is just really incredible. I enjoy playing these games, but it's amazing how many people out there enjoy spending their time trying to tweak the game. One of the ones that looked the most interesting was one that makes the cold have an effect on you, and requiring you to manage that. Pretty well done stuff from the looks of it. I'm not going to go that far, looks like too much work, but just looked like a really interesting mod.
I finally quit playing last night about 1am after getting my ### handed to me on a quest in a cave. Guess I'll have to level up before trying that one again.
