Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (2 Viewers)

I know it's not close to the genre that everyone is talking about but the new Skylanders is awesome. Kids love it the new tech is funny as heck and I'm actually looking forward to playing it with them.

Through two chapters of Evil Within. IK was spot on on his review. Enjoying it very much so far.
Glad you're liking it. It's not a perfect game by any means, but it scratched the Resident Evil 4 itch for me.

Do the majority of you prefer digital or hard copy game versions? Just curious.
If I had the HD space and prices were equal, I would buy most stuff digitally. It's a very minor thing, but I like not having to mess around with discs. That said, it seems to be easier to get deals of physical media, so I tend to go that route except for games like Diablo and Battlefield that I know I'll be playing for a long amount of calendar time.

So I picked another warchief someone the greedy or something. I need to set off the alarm. Next thing I know there is 50 guys chasing me and now 3 bosses and a warchief chasing me. I'm running around crazy trying to hide to lower the level of chase.

I kill one boss another runs away when I shot the lock off a caragor. Another took off when in the middle of battle I blew up a fire and he caught on fire. My " wanted level" us back down and the greedy guy says he is vulnerable to stealth kills. So I'm on top of a building, he gets within range and I hit square instant stealth kill :lmao:

I literally sprinted and climes around for like 10 minutes
You must be ahead of me -- almost every mission I've faced so far has involved not setting off alarms whenever possible.

But yeah, I've found myself swarmed by a ton of guys and multiple chiefs at once. I'll be fighting and all of the sudden somebody cries out "Ghostwalker!" and I get that cinematic cut to yet another chief and it's like "Really? How many of these guys live in the same zip code?" I've done a bunch of side missions so I'm over-powered to the point where I can feasibly hope to handle these situations although I still die sometimes. It's a cluster though.

Ok so I have branded 2/5 Warchiefs now. Like Ivan I did loads and loads of side missions so I am a bonafide orc killing badass.

I am 57% completed with 30 hours of game time. I am motoring through the main story now. I have so many oner games I want to play. SO I figure I will be done with this great game in another 7-10 hours. Crazy thing is I always get sidetracked on those side missions....I can't help myself. The game is really a blast.

Next on the que will be Alien Isolation for a complete change of pace. After that we will embark on the journey known as Dragon Age Inquisition.

i need to do side missions. All the lower bosses are now like level 8 and I've done no side missions

Yep, that's probably it. I'm not as far along in the main story as you, and I have almost all of the bottom-tier (level 5?) combat abilities unlocked. The "triple combat streak" and "two finishers instead of just one" and "double damage with a glowing sword" perks. And the "jump over a guy to stun him" perk which makes a huge difference in combat. I've struggled with a few missions despite these, so I can see where this game would be frustrating as hell if you were plowing through the main story without doing the side quests.

You guys having trouble need to kill brand the war chiefs bodyguards before starting the war chief mission.
Or this.

I really enjoy the #######-with-Uruk-politics aspects of this game. It'll get old, obviously, but it's a pretty cool twist.

hard.

It significantly cuts down on the price of games because you can just resell them for fairly close to what you purchased them.
To me, it makes buying games early worthwhile. If it's terrible, or I just don't like it, I can resell it quick and not be out much.

I think digital-only is inevitable, but I wish they would make it cheaper. It would help sway me.

I've decided to go all digital. If I'm not willing to buy a digital game, then I probably didn't need to buy it/spend the time anyway.

It's so nice just to be able to watch TV, and browse through all my games during halftime or whatever, and just play whatever I want without having to find the disc, etc.

The last current gaming system I've owned was the Atari 2600 when I was 9(circa 1979ish). I have mostly relied on PC games and arcades to sooth my video game urges.

My wife and I decided to step into the 21st century this holiday, and got my 9 and 7 year old an Xbox 360. It came with the racing game(Forza Horizon)(one of my favorites), and we got Minecraft and Castle Crashers for the kids.

I also grabbed Portal 2 after doing a lot of research. My new favorite addiction.

You really should play Portal 1 first. 2 is better gameplay but 1 is better for the intro to the game and a better story

In case anybody cares, the PS store has Walking Dead Season 2 on sale for $6.50 for the next couple of days. I was waiting for this kind of price cut to pick it up.

I know this game may not be for you guys and I am not a fan of "running" games in general. Partly because there haven't been any themes I like. So, I downloaded Looney Tunes Dash! for the iPad. Its pretty good, fun, and I hate the thing. Its so difficult to get three stars on some of these. What adds to the frustration is that you only get 5 lives at a time and then you have to wait at least 90 minutes to play five times again. Every 20 minutes you get one life back. So, the frustration builds and builds and is gone in a dash.

The theme is pretty good though.

You and your kiddos played Smash yet?

I love most all of the characters with a few exceptions (Charizard feels so fn heavy, he sucks!). I've been particularly fond of Rosalina & Luma, Mega Man, Sonic, Greninja, and Diddy Kong.

Anyone up for some Payday 2? My son is trying to complete a mission and needs some help on Xbox 360.
Payday 2 is a great game and just had its first update. It not an auto download update so make sure to go to the dlc area and it will be there. It's something like 1.4gb and takes the game up to like patch 15 on PC. The changes make the game much better imo but removed some of the relied upon cheese that 360 used a lot. What mission is he stuck on?

This is a little outside the normal recommendation for this thread, but for anyone who likes to have 'party' type games on hand, I highly recommend the Jackbox Party Pack (multiple consoles).

It's got like 5 different party games, with the hook being that you use your smart phone/tablet as your personal controller for answering trivia, drawing, etc. It's been a hit with family/friends and even my kids, who love the game "Drawful".

So I picked up Walking Dead Season 2 on the flash sale. But I also purchased Outlast (and the whistle Blower DLC) for 11 bucks.

Holy freaking crap man. This game is scary as hell! I could only take 45 minutes last night before I had to play something else.

I've went to the Playstation store 3 times and have only seen TWD S2 for 14.99 (ps3) in the past 3 days. What am I missing, or did they change the price back on that? Thanks, feel like an idiot...

Good purchase. I haven't played the DLC, but the base game is awesome.

Sale has been extended to 12/31

TWD Season 2 is that price only for PS4

I just got a 500GB XBox 360 CoD bundle at 50% off for $125 from Target. Paid with gift cards. Can't decide whether to hook it to the basement TV as a 2nd 360, or bundle it with a few games I don't play and try to get some cash...

Never realized RE4 was available in HD for the 360. Grabbed it for $5 yesterday.
Came out more than a year ago I think. That's how I played it.
Yea my Xbox was red ringed from September 2013 to November 2014 (when I bought a new one). So I missed that.
It's been out for at least 3 years, because that's how many Octobers I've told myself I was gonna play it finally and I never got around to it.

old college friend is the GM at jackbox (whatever that means). I wonder if he will give me a freebee.

Here's what I am playing lately - Console-style PC Skyrim with Mods!

Got a new computer (my nephew built it). We decided to go upper mid-level gaming rig, even though I haven't been into computer games for many years (I am a heavy console gamer). But I loved computer games back in the day, and the prospect of playing Skyrim with mods on my TV intrigued me (I had played plenty of PC Morrowind with mods years ago). The video card has HDMI out, so I hook it to the TV, and I bought a USB wireless receiver for the Xbox controller. As soon as you turn on the controller, the computer recognizes it and uses it for the game.

I download the Steam version of Skyrim (which has full controller support - in other words, if you plug in a controller, it defaults to the xbox style control - no setting it up). I got acquainted with mods, and wow.... it's a new game. Which is saying a lot, because I put about 150-200 hours into the console version. The thing that's cool is it all works flawlessly. Except for the double-click to start up, it's exactly like playing the console version - with better graphics/performance, and awesome mods.

This particular bundle is ringing up 50% off.

Go here to look up the inventory in your area: http://brickseek.com/target-inventory-checker

Use this DCPI: 207-21-1403

Also, if you can find it, the XBONE Madden bundle is $200. They were pretty much gone before this clearance.

Ha! Coincidentally my kids turn 4 in January. I think I have my answer.

My Lord, FIFA 15 is tremendous.

First go-round with a FIFA title...where has this been all my life?
it is really good. My son brought it home from college. I have to pick it up at some point
I have heard so many good things about FIFA over the years but like other sports games I have never purchased it.

Are sports games fun if you are the only gamer in family or do these really shine when you can play against a non AI opponent on your couch?

Wait this is for a 360 ?
Yup. There was another xbox one deal for $200 w/madden but there are none left in my area.

I need a 360 with a HD as my old 250 died and the only other HD I have is a 20 GB but that's for the old style and mine is a slim.

So I could either buy a HD for the slim, or buy this nice new 500gb model for me, and the kids/wife get the other newer 360.

I'm basically using them as media centers so they work great for us.
