Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (2 Viewers)

So, anyone looking forward to Evolve? If anyone has been staying current on it could I get a breakdown. I love L4D and from briefly looking at Evolve I got that vib. Is it PvP only?

Also I didn't realize how much I like the original resident evil until I saw it pop up that the consoles were getting a remaster of the gameCube version in two weeks and I got smacked by a wave of nostalgia. Another game added to the ever growing to be played list.

Anyone looking forward to Dying Light?
Horror survival?
Open world zombie horror survival with Mirror's Edge/parkour style movement. Ish.
...Never heard of it until now...You have me interested. Is it supposed to be kind of like State of Decay with parkour? How about a story?
Yeah, there's a plot. I would guess not super deep, probably a lot of "go save so and so" missions.

You can craft weapons. You have safe houses/zones. During the day the zombies are slow and rambling. During the night they get beefed up and can run/climb and get a lot scarier.

Just looks "fun" to me. Then again, I freaking loved Mirror's Edge. A lot.

Multi? that would be too sweet. Ill have to check it out more.

Yeah, looks like it has a 4 player co-op mode.

Here's a good quick trailer to watch: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/gamescom-2014-dying-light-gameplay-trailer-shows-o/1100-6421598/

Son and I played a couple of hours of D3 again this weekend, so much fun to play together in the same room. I remember a lot of where to go and such, but forgotten enough to keep it fresh. Man, the loot seems to drop so much better now, too.

I'll get it for sure. Not sure whether it'll be on PS4 or computer though. If I get it on the computer I can play with my wife but I'll need to upgrade my video card first. If I get it on PS4 I obviously won't be able to play with the wife unless she buys a second PS4.

Loot drops are crazy now compared to pre-expansion. You almost constantly have at least one legendary equipped.

I have a bunch of legendary items. L30 monk. They don't actually seem all that rare. Am I missing something?

The pc version pre expansion had terrible drop rates that frustrated people to the max. When the game came out on Xbox 360 and PS3 they implemented loot 2.0, aka lots more drops. Then they added it to the PC version and the the expansions for all systems.

Yeah, I was a release date D3 PC player, and between the crappy loot and the Auction House, it was frustrating. I think my son and I at level 15 each have at least 2-3 legendaries equipped right now.

Couple of attempts to hack my Steam account this morning. Don't know if these things go in waves or are individual in nature, but you might want to check your email for any new computer authorizations.
That sucks. I had my Origin hacked about 6 weeks ago and they purchased Inquisition, AC: Unity and a couple other things before I realized it. Origin customer service stepped up and got my account reset immediately and all the purchases refunded within 2 days.

Luckily, they did it about 45 minutes before I checked my email. I had two emails from Steam asking if I had tried logging into my account from a new computer in Spain and another in China so I immediately went in and changed my password. No purchase or any other activity that I could see.

The weird part was that I had just put a new credit card in on Saturday because the old one on account had expired. Maybe just coincidence but seemed strange.

Any of you guys ever play Gary's Mod?

From what I could tell reading reviews and watching youtube, it looks like it'd be fun for about 15 minutes, then get boring quick unless you're 16 years old, smoke tons of weed, and have a group of high school friends who play and do the same.

Garry's Mod is one of the most popular games on Steam. It's popular for the same reason Minecraft is popular. There's no limits to what you can do. No, it's not my type of game, but millions love it.

Evolve beta is the first game in a longtime that I had a blast playing but can't explain why I won't be buying on release. I think it's the fact that it's essentially just pvp and does t have a campaign mode, which in l4d, was my main attractions playing on tougher difficulties. I love the strategy and team work need as the hunters but the monster does seem op especially the wrath. If only this had a campaign. :/

Extra Life 2015 is going to take place on November 7th, 2015. Would anyone be interested in starting a Footballguys team? I think you guys could raise some serious coin.

I had a good time with the evolve beta and am going to be buying, but I think it's going to be a tough sell for a lot of people.

It's not one of those games like gears or Titanfall that grabs you immediately. You really have to figure things out before it's any fun. I'd imagine that a lot of people played a couple rounds in the beta, got their butt kicked by the monster, and moved on to something else.

Started playing Europa Universalis 4 the other day. I've never had a game suck time away from me like this before. Civ 3 used to occupy an embarrassing amount of my time, but at least I was aware of it. I played EU yesterday for what I thought was two hours at most...apparently five hours had passed without my knowledge.

Never heard of this game before reading this post. After a little research I realize I must have it.

Must-have if you like the deep strategy games.

So I finally got back to playing after a month layoff, how far do I have left in mordor

chick just took me to the queen

So I'm at least 10 years behind on video games. The bummer is I don't know anything about the latest games. But the great thing is that all of the games I buy from Steam are about $5 during holiday sales, etc.

I just finished Half-Life 2. Awesome shooter. Of course, I'm pretty sure I was the last one to know this.

Now playing Knights of the Old Republic (the 1st one), Age of Empires 3 and Company of Heroes (also the 1st one).

Then my backlog is ridiculous:

Batman: Arkham Asylum and City

Bioshock 1 and 2

Crysis

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Far Cry 3

Half-Life 2: Episode 1 and 2

Mass Effect 1 and 2

Civilization 5

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Skyrim

How the hell am I ever going to get to these games? And why did I buy them all in the first place?

The Arkham games are good mindless fun. Run around beating people up in classic Gotham settings. Decent story too. Probably could finish both in less than 40 hours.

Half life 2 episode 1 and 2 are musts. The only thing that sucks is Episode 3 or HL3 has been in the works for like 8 years now. So you will be excited/pissed at the end of episode 2.

BioShock 1 is a masterpiece. Bioshock 2 is decent.

Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3 take some time to get into, but once you're in, its one of the most emersive universes I've ever encountered. I'm on my 5th full playthrough now. With all the dlc provably takes about 150-200 hours to fully complete the series.

Oblivion takes a lot to get into. Skyrim is much easier to pick up and play. Still another game with about 300+ hours of gameplay.

Civ 5 will consume you if you let it.

So yea, the next 10 years of your life are mapped out from that list. Have fun.

I downloaded the PC version of Minecraft for my son (he's been playing it on his ipad).

He got me to try it once....

....and I've been playing almost none stop for 4 days now. It's the first time since Skyrim's launch that I stayed up until 5am playing a video game.

At this point I'm almost happy my vacation is over Friday. It means I'll have to stop shooting myself up with Minecraft crack. I've skipped the gym three days in a row now because I lost track of time.

Holy hell is this game addicting and fun.

My poor kids.

Alien Isolation is one bad ### survival horror game that has nailed the ambiance of Ridley Scott's masterpiece Alien.

The game has me on edge at all times. Being creative in creating distractions (for both humans, synthetics and the Alien) and using limited resources is the key to succeeding each mission. The sounds, lighting, everything about it is well done. A lot of care and love went into making the Alien game we have been waiting for.

If you love survival horror and really are an Alien film geek...it is a must play. I play the game in total Darkness with my Sony gold wireless headphones. Really creepy.

On normal difficulty it is unforgiving. You will die and die a lot.

Honestly I would just skip Oblivion and go right to Skyrim.

It is so much better. It's not even close IMO. You can literally sink 250-300 hours into Skyrim on one play-through.

Mass Effect series is a must.

Batman games are a must.

Bioshock 1 is a must.

Deus Ex is a great game.

Realistically I know I'll never be able to play both Oblivion and Skyrim so thanks for the input. Why is Skyrim better? I know Oblivion had terrible leveling but I have installed a mod to address that. Other reasons to prefer Skyrim?

Everything Oblivion did, Skyrim just does better. Neither game has much of a plot. If you are having to pick and choose games to catch up on, you might as well play the superior version of what is basically the same game.

Diablo 3 is much more fun this time around. 1st time, played at release on PC which was rightfully lambasted for its shortcomings. Now on PS4 with co-op with my son, it is really fun. Man, legendaries drop several a session and yellows are raining all around. Playing through the 1st time on Hard with my son. Might need to get 2 more family members in the game with the controllers I have. I assume all loot and monsters scale to the # of players in-game?

yes

I know on pc version you can set monster level from 1-10 for higher chances of drops.

is the ps4 diablo just local multiplay or can you get online and join pubs?

I stopped playing 2 years ago but from what ive read they have really changed the game around

Either or on the local vs online. The only downside to playing the couch co-op with my almost 15 yr old son is he keeps stopping play to check out new skills, equip new gear, etc. I wish it could go split screen so both could do that at the same time. Sheesh son, let's check stuff every couple of levels, mmkay? :)

Almost every change they made was for the positive. I played D3 on the PS3 and that was an improved model on the original D3 on the computer, but Reaper of Souls just blows even those improvements away.

The PC and console difficulties are the same in Reaper of Souls (completely redesigned from the original D3 difficulty system)

PC and Ultimate Evil Edition Difficulty Levels

Normal: 100% Health, 100% Damage, 0% extra gold bonus, 0% extra XP bonus

Hard: 200% Health, 130% Damage, 75% extra gold bonus, 75% extra XP bonus

Expert: 320% Health, 189% Damage, 100% extra gold bonus, 100% extra XP bonus

Master: 512% Health, 273% Damage, 200% extra gold bonus, 200% extra XP bonus

Torment I: 819% Health, 396% Damage, 300% extra gold bonus, 300% extra XP bonus

Torment II: 1311% Health, 575% Damage, 400% extra gold bonus, 400% extra XP bonus

Torment III: 2097% Health, 833% Damage, 550% extra gold bonus, 550% extra XP bonus

Torment IV: 3355% Health, 1208% Damage, 800% extra gold bonus, 800% extra XP bonus

Torment V: 5369% Health, 1752% Damage, 1150% extra gold bonus, 1150% extra XP bonus

Torment VI: 8590% Health, 2540% Damage, 1600% extra gold bonus, 1600% extra XP bonus

I have one character who is doing pretty well in Torment 5 right now in the Rfits.

We are about level 24/25 right now and I got a legendary 2H axe last night for my crusader that gives me +600 health per hit. My son was jealous, though as the archer he sits back with his dual hand xbows and gets about +200/hit. Combine that with rapid fire and he loves this game.

I've been playing a crusader with my wife (I'd played the other classes in vanilla, wanted to mix it up in the expansion). She's got a barbarian. Currently she's critting for about 14,000,000 while I crit for ~2,000,000. It's crazy.

What is her characters base DPS?

My monk that I play at Torment 5 DPS is a little over 600k.

Kind of. The app stopped working for a couple weeks and then my company decided to double in size so we added 1500 people in 3 months. I run an IT support group so I got really busy there for a while.

About a week ago one of the guys that works for me asked me if I played. I updated the app to show him my base and it worked. I'm now in his family's clan (15 people total) and we're 0-2 on wars and getting basically doubled in score.

I can't remember off the top of my head. It's been a few weeks since we've played. We really only play when we get together with another couple up the block and that happens about once a month.

With that incredible level of crit, you guys must cruise through the highest Torment levels. Sweet.
