Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (3 Viewers)

Most hours for me probably is on an old fashioned MUD called Dragon Swords. Must have spent the better part of 3 years playing it. In total probably 8000-10000 hours.
the math behind this is frightening/impressive.

To achieve 9000 hours in 3 years, you have to play, on average, over 8 hours a day (365 days a year).
Although I was enrolled in classes my day usually consisted of me being at the univeristy computer lab around 8am and I got home around 11pm on average. I usually only ate two slices of pizza and a pop on the subway ride home. I weighed about 120 pounds. Addiction isnt pretty.
That's impressive.

Do you know Billy Mitchell?

Probably Lord of the Rings Online, but I'd be interested in seeing my played time for the Bard's Tale and Elite
Same for me - LOTRO. :nerd:
what was the draw? I barely can remember this one. I played for a bit.
It is/was a fantastic rendition of the people and places of Middle Earth. I got a lifetime sub so I still pop in now and then.
Part of me wishes I had bought the Founders Lifetime. The other part is glad I didn't. Man I spent a long time in that world. Oh the fun in the beta growing pipeweed hours on end just waiting for it to go live to have enough $$ to buy a horse on release day. My wife mocked me for doing that on my laptop while we would watch a show or something. I probably deserved it. :bag:

I really really stink at this. I can't even make it by mike's first mission where you have to drive, aim and shoot at the same time...

OK here is a question for the group.

* Single game ONLY. Not a franchise

* You can think of arcade, computer, console, tablet, phone etc

What is the single game you have played the most hours in your life?

======================================================

For me I think it is now Hearthstone. This silly little game chews up a couple of hours a day and I have been playing since May I think :)
When I was a kid, I had to have pumped like 4000 hours in Tecmo Super Bowl. Once upon a time my friends and I(there were 14 of us) each drew numbers out of a hat to select a team for a season, then had a snake style draft to select your second team. If your two teams played each other, you'd skip the game, so it was unwise to pick teams in the same division. I recall the first two picks were San Francisco and Buffalo. I ended up with Chicago(probably somewhere between picks 5-9, and my favorite team) and San Diego. I ended up winning it with San Diego(who I thought was the lesser of my teams) thanks to a monster game from Marion Butts, and blocking 2 kicks with Leslie O'Neal, to beat the 49ers.
I easily sunk hundreds of hours into that one along with Baseball Stars and then Madden 93 and Tony La Russa Baseball for the Sega Genesis.....oh yes...the stoner days.
Ahh baseball stars. Spend hours upon hours building your team, get a few max players, pop in the game and it is all erased. Rinse, repeat.
When isn't it?

I understand Skyrim is part of a franchise but I have played Skyrim for over 230 hours now......that's insane for me. I have never poured more than 50-60 hours into one game (other than my sports games). This one is like living an alternative life.
Right when I was pretty much done with Skyrim I found the hour counter and hit 330 hours. Damn. Never even got my guy to the point where I could cast the best stuff, either.
I have roughly 400 hours over 2 characters in Skyrim.
Where do you find this counter? I'm curious now how many hours i've put into it (xbox).
For PS, the info was stored with your save file. The next time you load your game, look at the save file info, it might be there on XB.
:goodposting: it's next to the save file I think HHH:MMM:SSS IIRC

Sort of feeing guilty, I didn't have cases today, so I took the day off work, ate Carls Jr for breakfast, got a big sub and a 12 pack for the afternoon and have sunk 6 hours into Diablo 3.

My wife knew I was doing this, but I know she is going to be all cold tonight because she didn't get a day off as well.

Don't you hate that? Why do I get the guilt trip because your job sucks?

What system do you play Diablo on? Just wondering if I have sent you any gifts through the game if you are on ps4.

There's only two gameplay things I would change about gta.

1. Make navigation a line on the road or light checkpoints like in the races. I want to see where I'm going and lol at the city, not stare at a mini map trying to see when the next turn comes up.

2. If they're doing a drive by mission, have you do one or the other. The shooting while driving mechanism is near impossible.

big marc,

do you shoot from behind the truck or get on the side of it?

Another reason the PC versions of GTA games are superior (except 4), Driving with the keyboard while shooting with the mouse is a lot easier.

I will happily accept any D3 gifts if anyone is sending them. My son and I are running a few classes. :bag:

I would say it's probably Skyrim for me too.

Although I sunk many many hours into Heroes of Might and Magic 3 as well. But Skyrim has topped hundreds of hours, and I'm well into playing it on PC now - many more hours await.
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 for me and it's orders of magnitude higher than second place. 15 years and still counting.

Just started King's Bounty: Armored Princess. Very close to HOMM3 and very difficult.
Just popped up on Steam - looks like a money grab to me, sadly:

Heroes® of Might & Magic® III – HD Edition

Probably Lord of the Rings Online, but I'd be interested in seeing my played time for the Bard's Tale and Elite

I bought the Founders Lifetime probably less than 6 months before it went F2P. I installed it not too long ago, and after having to reset passwords 2 or 3 times got logged in. Nice thing about the lifetime is I had enough VIP points to purchase all the expansions including the latest one (and that only took about 1/2 of my points), so I can, if I want, log on and play through to the current level without any additional $$. That said, they've changed so much, and a large percentage of the draw was the people we played with - the social aspect of it. Once people drifted away, I found myself much less interested in playing. I'd like to give the mounted combat a try, and see some more of the world of M.E. as laid out in the game, but so much of it is grindy and if you don't have people that chat with while doing that stuff, it isn't nearly as fun.

Finished The Evil Within. Awesome game. Took me over 18 hours and 144 deaths (Im actually shocked this number wasnt higher). The New Game + stuff they give you is pretty cool so I moght play again soon. I have one legit beef and Ill spoiler it

i was dangerously low on ammo in chapter 15. I know you were supposed to save your ammo throughout the game but I always found a way to get some more until that chapter. It took me many many attempts to pass that part and alot of running around because i had very little ammo. I wish there was a way to know that was coming. And the enemies didnt drop any ammo. I was close to lowering the difficulty.

Damn. Back in college I helped code a MUD and I didn't spend nearly that much time on it.
I was a player for the first year and a half. Then I was a player helping Immortal for about a year. And the final 6 month I built areas for the players to explore.

Diablo question: It said if I linked my battle.net account then I would have a legendary item waiting for me, or something to that effect. What is that and how do I get it?

Girlfriend and I started couch co-op-ing (hehe double entendre) last night, her first video game, and she loved it. We've got me as a Monk and her as a Mage and we're doing the Fallen star mission. I thought we'd play like an hour and I'd try to help her get the hang of it...but we played like 3 and she's a natural. She does a good job of following my rules too! I've already got some +vitality and life restoring gear so she is under a permanent "stay behind me and use magic on people, and don't get hit" instruction HAHA.

We saw the mailbox and didn't know what to do with it. Said something like nothing in here, or similar.

P.S. my PSN name is Instinctive-_- As I figure this out we'll try to send some stuff back!

I just can't play single player games that long - I beat Skyrim with a good bit of side quests done in about 60 hours. After that, I'm done. I haven't touched it since.

CoD4 is my most played - somewhere in the range of 15 days. I'd say 99% of that is multiplayer - it just creates a new experience for me every time.

I believe the gift goes right into your stash. I think mine was a legendary ring that's great for low levels. Get it now!

1) the gifts from other players go into your mailbox. The mailbox is physically located next to your stash (it sounds like you found it)

2) you can only get gifts from people you are friends with

3) I sent you a friend request a while back but you need to respond to it else you can't get any gifts

Thanks! Will accept and such later today. This game is fun. Honestly may already be my favorite couch co-op since Gauntlet: Dark Legacy for the GameCube lol.

Do DIII gifts work between PS3/PS4? I play on PS3, PSN is Cortimus.

As mentioned a bit earlier I'm just starting in the game.
I think player gifts are PS4 exclusives (or at least they were originally) but I will add you as a friend just in case.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/11/09/blizzard-explains-diablo-iiis-exclusive-ps4-features
Nope, PS3 players can send/receive gifts. I just don't know if they can be sent from a PS3 user to PS4 user. Let me know how it works. Poke_4_Life, I am also on PS3, PSN: FY1Cuda

I dunno - besides the graphics being updated, if they optimize the game for modern computer speeds, I'll buy it in a second.

I still play the old one, but the computer's turn flying by is annoying, especially on larger maps where you want to see what happened everywhere.

To me, it's the best turn-based strategy game ever made. Prettymuch nailed every aspect that makes the genre fun.

Playing Diablo today and daughter walks in and sits next to me.

Me: "Hi sweetie"

Daughter: "Are you playing Diablo again?"

Me: "Yes"

Pause

Daughter: "How come everytime I see you play it looks like you do the exact same thing?"

Me: "Well, I guess I am in a way"

Daughter: "What fun is that?"

Me: "Well I can kill things at a higher difficulty and faster now than last week"

Pause

Daughter shakes her head, and gets up to leave

Me: "Wait, don't you want to see my cool new legendary belt I picked up today?"

Daughter waves at me like Livia Soprano as she leaves.

I love reading the variety of games people feel they have played the most of. Very enjoyable side track to the thread.

Thanks to everyone for answering :)
Lost huge chunks of time to Earthworm Jim. Madden 95. NHL 94. RE4.

I've been playing Chivalry medieval warfare this weekend. This game is an absolute blast. First mp game I've enjoyed in a while.
I envy you so bad- that game looks promising.
I must have picked it up in a sale because I wouldn't have paid its current price without knowing anything about it. It's a good time though
Had a moment last night in a Free for all Death match where two guys were engaged in combat with each other and I ran up and removed both their heads with one swing. Awesome.

Also had a great gaming moment where the objective was to push a primitive bomb to the city gate. We were stalled out forever with the opposing team doing a good job of even preventing us from getting close to the cart.. With about a minute left in the game, I managed to hack down 4 defenders, reach the cart and fight off one more defender while pushing it the last couple feet to the gate with seconds left in the match. The explosion threw me a few hundred feet and killed me but what a way to go...
Those style games - that and there is another one -Mount n baked or donating similar - along with the upcoming Ultima Online remake have me strongly considering building a PC.
Mount and Blade? I have that one too but haven't played it. It's not MP, is it?
I could actually run the first one but I don't think my laptop could hack the MP so I never tried it- it was a blast and was prolly the $5 I ever spent on a game.ETA- : lmao: at my auto correct " mount and baked" lol - fixed it
I'm actually looking at Mount and Blade on Steam right now. Never heard of it before but looking for a single player strategy/history game that I can cruise in with low stress. Looks cool.

Do it. I played the first one years ago and LOVED it. I wish I could try the others.

Couple of attempts to hack my Steam account this morning. Don't know if these things go in waves or are individual in nature, but you might want to check your email for any new computer authorizations.

Just picked up the platinum trophy for Diablo. Not sure how many hours since the game does not log but I think it was around 100.

Finished up (for now) at paragon level 116 and hovering between Torment 3 and 4. After I take a break, I want to craft a Hellfire Amulet (this is a long farming quest) to hopefully up my DPS to stay at Torment 4 for good.

Next up will be Dragon Age 3. Going to do some reading up on it the next couple of days.
