Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (9 Viewers)

I've got a backlog on xbox360

Witcher 2

Alan Wake

Tomb Raider

Which one?
Alan Wake for sure. One of the most engrossing stories I've seen in a game.
I'll do that next. I started Tomb Raider and am blowing through it. I wouldn't be shocked if I finished it up in the next day or so. The wife is sick this weekend so my day yesterday was walking the dog, doing yard work, then hours of video games.

You really can't go wrong with any of those games. The Witcher series is among my favorites in general but I have to say that Alan Wake was the most pleasant surprise of the bunch. I forgot who said it earlier in this thread but it's true that it just oooozes with atmosphere.

I have barely touched AC Unity, Halo MCC, and Shadows of Mordor, but I preordered W3 and I'm pumped for it. Count me in the camp hoping for a strong story rather than a bunch of BS open world fetch quests though.

Can someone tell me how is Witcher different than skyrim?
Combat mechanics would be one big difference I would think. Looks like inventory management is much different. Comes from books so the story has more depth generally. Now they wanted this one to be more accessible so it does play a bit like Skyrim based on the Twitch feeds I've seen.

Bethesda released a 10 second Doom teaser. At the end it states a full reveal at E3.

http://m.ca.ign.com/articles/2015/05/18/doom-gameplay-teased-full-reveal-coming-at-e3

I think this is the first E3 Bethesda has had it own conference or lead the conference or something. Which has lead everyone to expect Fallout 4. If this teaser is to show everyone that their big announcement is Doom and not Fallout 4, I think a lot people are going to lose their ####.

It's the first time they have had a separate conference. Personally I couldn't care any less than I do about a new Doom. Announce FO4 or why bother?

I feel like I've been teased one too many times with FO4 "news." Just take my money!

Man Doom and Quake take me back. I still remember trying to play Quake 2 deathmatch with a 56k modem. Cable internet was a godsend for that game.

I never really got into the Fallout games. A year or two ago I started the one starts with the murder cut scene then you're in the Vault. I think it was new Vegas. Started it then went out of town then something new and shiny came out (GTA 5 maybe) and haven't went back.

I would much prefer to finally get into a Fallout game rather than Doom. I think Wolfenstien did a good enough job with the revamped throwback shooter anyways.

Exactly. Heck that would probably push me over the edge and get me to buy a latest gen console. Witcher 3 is pretty close to getting me there this would definitely be the finisher.

I ended going to college at the perfect time for the beginning of good internet gaming, Warcraft II came out the year before I got there and was probably the first big LAN game I remember. Quake came out my freshman year, then StarCraft maybe my sophomore year. Dorms all had high speed Ethernet, and by the time I moved into an off campus apartment a few years later they all had high speed Ethernet also.

I managed to do ok, but I think two people from my freshman year dorm flunked out by the end of second year directly because of internet gaming...

My first professional job, 4 or 5 of us would stay after work a couple of times/week and play Descent on the companies LAN for 2 hours or so. IT actually had to kibosh that once they found out who was sucking up so much of the nework's resources. Good times.

Did the same thing with Unreal Tournament back in the 90s. Eight of played all evening in our cubicles in a dark office, laughing like loons.

There is a troubling trend to not have LAN support in games anymore. I used to host LAN parties at my office a few times a year, but there really hasn't been a decent one since BF2. Anyone have a newer one? BF2 is still fun and all, but it is 4 versions old.

We played the hell out of Doom on our office LAN.

One of the cooler things about MLB15's Road to the Show is crushing a fastball over the green monster and completely out of Fenway Park. And that the announcers paused their inane chatter and said something along the lines of "never a doubt here."

Also, I was wearing my sunglasses playing a game on Saturday and went 5-5 with 3 doubles off the wall, a couple runs, and a few RBIs. Still crushing the ball pretty well with them to. I don't know if I actually see the pitches better through polarized lenses or if I'm just reliving baseball superstition but this is a thing now.

I just picked up Batman Arkham City and Skyrim on sale. both seem like great games. which should I finish first?
Arkhim City. Skyrim is a very long game.
:goodposting:

I don't know how long it would take to beat Arkham City but with Skyrim (and all DLC), you could sink 100-150 hours into the game and not completely finish it (depending, of course, on what you like to do in sandbox type RPG video games).

So for someone that has not played a beisbol game in years, would there be much difference between The Show 14 and 15? Aside from $60 for 15 and $15 for 14?

Equipment, improved Diamond Dynasty and more realistic/seasonal lighting from the sun

Same here, except with Quake Tournament. Great times.

Starting a second run through Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Got the Director's Cut on sale for something like $5. I forgot how much fun that game is. Strong story and legitimate flexibility with your play style.

Yeah the PS3 version is still an amazing sports game.

Go for it.
Todem, where do I find the rosters you talked about in here somewhere?
Head to the roster vault in the games menus......You will find:

1987 full 90 man full minors (for franchise play)

1984 (season mode)

1988 (season mode)

1978 (season mode)

1975 (season mode)

If you need some tips on how to set up your franchise or season mode to get the most out of the game let me know via PM

Really enjoyed The Unfinished Swan, one of the current PS Plus games. I'd recommend that to anyone. Also enjoying Race the Sun and will try out the others. I was not a fan of Monsterbag, which was one of the games for the Vita from last month.

I've had the PS Plus for a few months now, and between that and all the flash sales, I wonder if I'll ever pay over $5 for a playstation game again. There are so many games I'm interested in playing on the backlog that I don't mind waiting on the current "blockbusters."

I've got the original version on 360. Can you DL the directors cut stuff or is it a seperate game? Is it worth it?

It's a standalone game and I know things are different while I am playing it but I don't remember most of the changes specifically (except the boss battles, those are very different). For the price I paid ($5) it is very worth it.
