Been itching for an old school RPG recently. Tried the enhanced Baldur's Gate and BG2 but couldn't get past the clunkiness of the old school interfaces (graphics didn't bother me much). I have Wastelend 2, which I never finished, but I'll wait for their expansion/fixes coming next month. It's too min/max as it is.

Looks like my best choices are probably Divinity 2 or Pillars of Eternity. Pillars of Eternity is probably closer to what I'm looking for but $45 is steep for a throwback game.

That said madden 16 is pretty awesome on the 360, much better than years past. Kind of frustrated though because I wouldn't have bought madden for 360 if I knew I had to buy an XBOX one to play NHL 16...

Both these games are excellent. I'd read up a little on them before starting. I got to the end of D2 and realized I'd only collected about half of a certain object I needed, and got stymied. Wasn't worth wandering around trying to collect all of them.

PoE is tremendous, but I recommend having a walkthrough handy or you'll miss a lot of the side stuff.

So I made it to the majors after being traded to the Reds. Spent most of a season there, didn't fare great, but I suppose I'm better than Zack Cozart.

Second year starts off great. I'm hitting .280, I'm stealing like a base a game and have 100% success rate...so I decide to sim a few games and reassess closer to All-Star Break.

First damn game simmed I break my leg. Not doing that again.

Haven't played but if it's like all other MGS games, go slow. Take your time to learn the pattern. You'll see a way through then.

Use your binochs, and mark guards. Sneak around the base and look at it from multiple angles (marking everyone you see.)

At first, I thought this feature was too much of an "easy mode" crutch, but as I've played more, I think the game really requires this. I've had several encounters in which I've hopped over a wall or opened a door or something and got spotted by somebody I couldn't possibly have known was there, and the "reflex mode" mechanic helps balance it out. That's especially true for when you have no choice but to deal with 2-3 enemies at once to rescue a prisoner or something. Some of these missions would have been nearly impossible to stealth without this.

To add to what jwb said, you're going to revisit most of the bases on future missions / side missions. Once you know your way around and you have a general idea of where patrols are and aren't, you'll find it much easier to sneak in and out undetected. For the time being, though, just recon the base carefully before you go in -- mark everybody -- belly-crawl your way through most of the base and crouch-walk when necessary, and hide bodies so the enemy doesn't go on alert. You'll get the hang of it.

I am also terrible at stealth. Knock out everyone and Fulton them away. Carry them a away a bit if needed. Start on the outside and work you way in. Have a way out. Most of the time this will just be straight back from the way you came. If you have a route out you can loop around the crew they send "at" you.

Dart shots in the head. Usually a patrol group is staggered. Wait for they to walk by you then dart (in the head) the one at the tail of the group and work through them.

On the field it is by far the best Madden yet.

Connected Franchise is functional enough and you will get pretty realistic stats buy year end. It's a really fun game.

NHL 16 is also a blast. I picked it up yesterday and dove right into a Panthers BeAGm mode. I love it. I have not played NHL since NHL 13 on the PS3.

Next year I will getting a buch of games in the discount bin:

I have a ridiculous PS3 backlog I need to play through. I still love that console even though I have moved on to the PS4 (going on a year now).

I will play through that backlog before I commit to anymore new games. By the time I am done (mid next year probably) I can pick up a lot of these AAA titles at 20 bucks (FO4, MGSV, Mad Max , The Witcher 3 etc etc).

My problem is I play tons of multiplayer games coop with the gf and especially gears of war, so there goes 90% gaming time before single player games. Although we have found playing coop is a great way to keep in touch with friends from back home where you just talk for hours about life.

Bioware is a company that depends on its storytelling to a degree that very few in the industry do. The latest Dragon Age (and to a lesser extent Me3) suffered in that department. Glad to see they are adding talent in that area.

It's the way they dressed and equipped that particular character, nothing more.

I saw other gameplay that looked "all souls, all the time", and nothing like Bloodborne.

I remember reading that there were only going to be like 10-12 bosses... anyone else hear that because epic bosses are my main reason for playing.

I mainly just want to game to address the strategy of some fights. The go to is circle strafe into the a$$ of the enemy, wait until they flail an attack at open-air, then hit them.

I feel like DS2 had more than 32, but a lot of them were copies or bs. The ghost chariot boss was cool, the boss with the mirror shield was bad ### (especially when you invade and get to be part of the battle), and the boss in the scooby doo ghost ship was cool. Most of the rest were completely forgettable to me. Actually Darklurker was pretty cool too - that was the hardest one.

I'm more concerned about the multi-player. For all the griping about Dark Souls 2, the multi-player was superior to DS1 or Bloodborne. I expect another tremendous PVE experience and subpar PVP gameplay with continuous backstab-fishing.

I think I died far more on the Smelter Demon the first time through but I'm right there with ya on the Pursuer. Funny, I just beat him tonight on my first play through of the xboxone version.

Right. I expect the co-op to be fine. It's all speculation at this point, but while I know Miyazaki brings the soul to Souls he seems to get a free pass on the PVP. He hasn't gotten it right yet.

Like many I wish the DS2 team was allowed to handle that element of it, though I understand it's tied to the combat mechanics and he wouldn't want to relinquish his preferred model for tactics.

Fume killed me the most consecutive times. I lost count. But that's probably my favorite boss fight. The weight of that fight is so heavy. It's a slugfest. That fight is the only time I've fought a boss without any armor on trying to maximize my speed.

I got unexpectedly burned out on MGSV. Didn't expect that. This is a really good game, but I think I poured in too many hours too quickly, and the missions are starting to feel very same-y. And this is an extremely long game. Not sure how to check my playtime, but I'm sure I'm past the 25 hour mark and I'm not even halfway through the main story missions and sitting at 22% completion or something. I'm sure I'll come back to it because it really is well-done.

In the meantime, I am looking very forward to the Uncharted collection, which comes next Tuesday. I know these games get a lot of criticism in this thread, but this is still one of my favorite franchises, and I'm looking forward to re-playing U1 on the PS4 as much as I was looking forward to RE4 on PS3. I fully plan to plow through all three games on hard and crushing back-to-back-to-back. YankeeFan23 -- you with me?
