Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (3 Viewers)

Damn need an excuse to get my son Lego Avengers
"Honey I got the game because I love our son. I am sorry if you don't love him, but I do. And I think with the attitude you are showing over a simple $50 expense for our son, who I love, he needs this even more than I realized. Now our son and I are going to the basement for the next eight hours so that he may bask in the love of his father via Lego Avengers. While we're gone I want you to think about your attitude and what you can do to change it. And don't disturb us unless you have beer or Hot Pockets."

Far Cry 4 was on super sale. I got everything plus the season pass for 29.99. Seemed like a decent bargain. Played a few minutes to see what I thought but I am hip deep in Fallout so I'll go back later to this one.

I used to love the Lego Star Wars games back in the day. I see that they now have a Jurassic World one as well as an Avengers one coming out. Are they the same type of game play? I know the Star Wars game play was simple and repetitive at times, but it was so much fun. Anyone played these new ones?

Rebooted Assassins Creed Black Flag. It's entertaining, but I can already see / feel the repetition wall on the horizon at about 15% completion.

Does Syndicate add any new features or is it just another remake in a different setting?

Rebooted a new MAdden 25 franchise with the Browns. Solid team I've created. Make the Super Bowl a few years in against the Lions. Yup, first timers! Browns down by 14 in the 4th. Stafford is the league MVP and my defense can't stop him. Offense manages some great plays and the game gets tied up on the final play of the game. Overtime. First overtime in Super Bowl history, right? I think. I'm going with it. Lions win the toss. Browns Lions - this is going to be epic.

Lions drive down the field in 4 plays and score. Sorry Browns. I tried.

You should start a thread chronicling the details of your team and the trades you made to restore the team to glory.

That was some top-notch shtick.

Yeah I played them all with my son. Lego Jurassic World and Lego Marvel and even Lego Batman 3 are all great games

Firing up the division beta!
I'm on ps4, so not going to get a chance to try it out until later today... What's your impression so far?
Very good game, I want to play more story. The dark zone works well but if your alone your at the mercy of others. I mostly saw 2-3 person groups roaming. It's plays great and the 3rd person works well. It kind of has a dying light with no zombies and more guns feel. As in how the quests and feel of progression works. The "seamless" multi to campaign has worked 98% of the time with a few hard freezes tossed in but nothing terrible, it's a beta. A few times people's guns have floated above their heads instead of in their hands, as well as one time my friends person got clipped into the sky somehow and cease to move but he was still going on his screen. Great game.

Some new features, nothing earth shattering, but they made stealth better and the storyline is a huge improvement at least for me. Love Syndicate.

I like it as well, but the dark zone is going to be a problem for smaller groups or individuals. With how fast and close opposing players can re-spawn, its incredibly tough to survive once you go rogue (which my brother and I did accidentally 2 or 3 times last night when other players literally jumped in front of our bullets when we were fighting NPC's or other guys that had gone rogue on us). It was simply impossible to hold off groups of 4 or multiple groups. We might kill them once, but that resets the rogue countdown and they respawn and come back like a minute later. I don't see how you make it out unless you have 4 guys or the other players make no effort to engage you.

Pretty much. I also hope they lower the damage to go rogue to 5% or actually just intent against non group members. I always went rogue because the person trying to kill me sucked just enough so by the time they would do 15% damage to me I would be killing them and then I would go rogue. The threshold is 20% damage to justify shooting back, which is dumb. Say you dodge a grenade someone shoots at you, 0% damage but definite the fight is on. Why should I be penalized because they suck but still trying to kill me.

I'm trying to like this but I'm just not having much fun with it... maybe it's the people I'm playing with... maybe it's AI needing 3 full clips to the face to die, IDK.

Infuriating MGS:V moment last night. Was finishing my longest mission so far, took me almost 2 days game time to complete, and with a couple retries, probably 2+ hours real time. I'm at the end very of the mission just trying to get out, accidently head outside the approved mission area and instant mission failure, no option to retry from checkpoint as I would have gotten had I died, just a message from HQ you are out of the area, this mission has failed, auto-save, ####!!

At least cut out with a choice screen that you have left the mission area, would you like to reload from last checkpoint or continue on. Bad game design there. Hopefully I can finish it faster this time, but damn I was doing good, hadn't been seen all mission, all bonus objectives completed, was easily going to be an "A".

Which mission
The one where you meet Dr. Emmerich and extract him from the main Afghanistan large base. You have to escape the walker to let your helicopter land I just drove too far trying to escape him. I know how to finish it now, would have just appreciated having another chance from a checkpoint instead of a restart.

I actually think it's one of the more fun and usually well made games I've played in a while. Repetitive probably, but really, in my opinion few games aren't.

Which mission
The one where you sneak in and attach something to somewhere and then sneak out you know the one. I probably need to pick that game up again at some point but it just got so damn repetitive
oh absolutely. I think people who called it game of the year played like two missions and wrote their review.
:goodposting:

I went out and bought the game because I heard how freaking "perfect" it was.

I rarely fall for the hype but to be fair that was all FFA induced type. I should go back and find out who was pimping that game so hard so I can adjust accordingly.

I was one of the guys who was pimping it. :bag:

To some degree, I have no regrets about that. I really do think the gameplay is sensational, and I think this game does open-world in a pretty good way. When I was pimping it, though, I didn't realize how absurdly padded the game is, and how repetitive some of the missions can be. I think I put about 30 hours into it, only to realize later that I wasn't even at the halfway point. I never even unlocked the forward-base thing, which having learned more about it, I'm sure I would have hated.

MGS4 was a very streamlined, short game that you can beat in under 5 hours if you skip the cutscenes (there's even a trophy for that). They went from that extreme, all the way to the other extreme of a huge, sprawling, bloated grind that should have been cut at least in half and probably more than that. I enjoyed the time that I spent with MGS5, but dear God did it need some editing.

I enjoyed MGS5 for the most part, even though it was pretty repetitive.

One thing to remember is, despite its bloat, it was unfinished, and it sure felt like it at times.

I thought the open world was horrible mgs5 because not only were the environments all the same but you couldn't go more than 100 yards without approaching yet another base. It got to the point where I just took helicopter everywhere. Oh and there was no point in upgrading weapons. At all

I was one pimping it as well, and I stand by much of that - if you like stealth, this the best ever made, period. It just works beautifully.

But yes, somewhere around the 25-30 hour mark, that "ok, what else is there" sets in. But I'm also one to feel satisfied if I got 20-30 solid hours out of a $60 game, which I definitely got out of this.

I love the FFA. Just good dudes all around. Thanks for owning up to your reviews and hope you know I was half kidding.

It is a pretty good game but to steal a line from y'all, just way too bloated.

Oh, of course :)

I should put a disclaimer with all of my impressions that A) I buy a lot of games, and B) I think there's nothing wrong with a game that gave me 20 decent hours but petered out / got repetitive. But I realize I'm in the minority there.

I know this was brought up a while back but are any of you playing Rocket League on PS4? I've been playing it pretty consistently since it was released as a free game but don't have anyone to party with as most of my friends were lame and didn't download it. Anyone want to get a party together? Might be fun to have a 3 person team.

I'd be interested as well. Hopefully my skill level isn't too bad to be useful.

As long as you don't try to clear it across our own goal we should be cool :P

what's your ID?

I still play it pretty consistently. I'm on PC, so I can't party up with you, but I can play with you by random chance.

If we get enough people (4 or 6) we can create a private party and play.

Kamil and I did alright tonight... won maybe 4 of 6 (unranked 3v3)

We would have done better in an average lobby too. The one guy on their team (MuffinMan or Mittenman or whatever) was really good and made a huge difference. Us 2 with a rando vs 3 randos I bet we win 85% of the time easy.

Nice. On now if anyone wants in.
so you're used to playing solo huh?
I play with myself constantly. And also play Rocket League solo.

It's an rpg not a fps. The health of enemies is solely dependent on your level related to theirs and your gear. Your expectations are off
That kind of scaling works well in a fantasy/sci-fi setup, but it feels very off in a game like the Division where the feel is supposed to be "real world." I thought the shooting felt much better in the beta than it did in the alpha, but I agree with Cockroach here. It really takes away from the realistic feeling of the gunplay.

Agreed. I liked the division beta but the bullet sponge higher level bad guys (especially in certain dark zone fights) broke some of the immersion for me.

Still gonna play it with friends but I'm not sure it will hold up as a solo experience

I actually feel it makes the game better. It will prolong the gaming experience as an online platform. The rpg and scaling elements is what adds the replay ability. Without them it would be a campaign for call of duty. Also with using 3rd person, going with insta killing would make the dark zone just bad. I guess different strokes.

Insein- do you have Xbox live gold still? Want to play some mass effect 3 multi sometime. I see you are on ME1 again for the who knows times.

...I beat it 9 times now and will be playing ME2 today.
