Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (6 Viewers)

Insein- do you have Xbox live gold still? Want to play some mass effect 3 multi sometime. I see you are on ME1 again for the who knows times.

...I beat it 9 times now and will be playing ME2 today.
Lol yea maybe. I don't get much time to play these days. I was actually nodding off while playing last night.

So maybe a change up will be good. Need to find my mic though.

I used to love the Lego Star Wars games back in the day. I see that they now have a Jurassic World one as well as an Avengers one coming out. Are they the same type of game play? I know the Star Wars game play was simple and repetitive at times, but it was so much fun. Anyone played these new ones?
Yeah I played them all with my son. Lego Jurassic World and Lego Marvel and even Lego Batman 3 are all great games
Any of them better than Lego Marvel Super Heroes (the one from like 2-3 years ago, not the newest one)? The wife and I really enjoyed that one. We have Batman 3, but haven't started it yet.

An update on my 32 team control Miami Dolphins CFM on Madden 16 (by far my favorite Madden on the field ever)

Year 3 came to a close yesterday with a thrilling 20-19 Super Bowl win over League MVP Aaron Rodgers and his Green-Bay Packers. Rookie QB Ryan Austin (who took over for Ryan Tannehill in week 9 Tanny was lost for the year and was on pace to shatter the single season yards and TD records) led the team to a huge win and was named the games MVP. Ryan Austin was a 3rd round draft pick out of North Dakota State. He flew under the radar and GM Dan Marino pulled the trigger early after his combine numbers came back and looked incredible. He was a projected 4th rounder but Marino saw something in the Senior Bowl. Austin a south paw has amazing speed and a fantastic deep throw. But his short passing game and throwing on the run is what really makes him dangerous. He proceeded to go undefeated in every start and capped it off with a Super Bowl title. After losing to the Vikings in year 2 to come up one game short of the title, Head Coach Tomas Single guided the Fins to their first title in 44 years. Impressive season considering all the injuries they went through. Missing from the Super Bowl were their #2 and #3 WR's in Devante Parker and Allen Hurns. During the season TE Luke Wilson, RB Lamar Miller and WR Jarvis Landry also missed chunks of the season. But the depth this team had thanks to GM/Owner Dan Marino came through. Players like RB Jay Ajayi, WR Kenny Stills and rookie WR Terrel Gaitor (who is a beast in the making) helped pick up the slack. And of course the brilliant play from QB Ryan Austin.

GM/Owner Dan Marino had some serious decisions to make in the off-season.
How do you go back to Tannehill after your hand picked rookie just won a Super Bowl and was the Super Bowl MVP? Rumors were swirling for the weeks after the game and on draft day Marino pulled the trigger on a blockbuster deal with the Arizona Cardinals. Drew Brees who retired after Year 3 left the Cardinals scrambling (he signed a 2 year deal but only played one year of it). They had the #2 overall pick. Instead of drafting a new QB they accepted a deal with Miami by trading the #2 overall and a 2019 First rounder in exchange for the in his prime Ryan Tannehill.

It is now Ryan Austins team.

Free agent sensation FS Reggie Nelson who was voted DB of the year in the AFC in year 3 made a stunning announcement after he won his first Super Bowl. He is calling it a career. It was a huge blow to the team as they loved his leadership and outstanding play in a young secondary. Also fan favorite FB John Kuhn who was vital in short yardage called it a career as well. LE Cameron Wake despite signing a 2 year extension at the start of year 3...called it a career as well. So some moves had to be made in the off-season

Here are the free agent pick ups the Fins made!

FS Ha Ha Clinton-Dix 88 OVR
RG Kevin Zeitler - 94 OVR
FB Anthony Sherman - 85 OVR
LE Mario Williams - 85 OVR
C Nick Mangold - 82 OVR
DT Raysean Hampton - 81 OVR
QB Tyrod Taylor - 79 OVR
LOLB Elvis Dumervil - 78 OVR
K Zach Hobbs - 70 OVR

So the Dolphins found their FS for many years to come, replaced Wake with Williams, got a stud RG, found a great back up QB for Ryan Austin (The Bills signed Johnny Football!) a veteran back up center for this season in case of injury in Mangold and he can also slide over and play guard if needed. A veteran LOLB as the Dolphins said goodbye to Koa Misi, some depth at DT and a new kicker for a small contract as they waived bye bye to Andre Franks and his inflated contract demands.

I have all the off-season happenings on my twitch channel (Todem23) with a full recap of free agency around the league, and then the draft.

The Dolphins will begin Year 4 (pre-season) tonight.

I have played a ton of these games with my daughter over the years. They are all really well done.

It is best to just pick what genre you like and you will likely enjoy the games.

If you like Lord of the Rings, the LOTR and Hobbit games are awesome

If you like DC, the Batman games are fun

If you like Marvel, they have a lot of good choices.

You really can't go wrong if you enjoy the general subject matter

Not available yet, but this week they just announced the Lego Star Wars: Force Awakens game for June 28th.

Anyone want to get a party together? Might be fun to have a 3 person team.
I still play it pretty consistently. I'm on PC, so I can't party up with you, but I can play with you by random chance.
If we get enough people (4 or 6) we can create a private party and play.

Kamil and I did alright tonight... won maybe 4 of 6 (unranked 3v3)
We would have done better in an average lobby too. The one guy on their team (MuffinMan or Mittenman or whatever) was really good and made a huge difference. Us 2 with a rando vs 3 randos I bet we win 85% of the time easy.

Nice. On now if anyone wants in.
so you're used to playing solo huh?
I play with myself constantly. And also play Rocket League solo.
I still fire up RL from time to time. PSN Cortimus

I saw the commercial last night and got me thinking....

The first Star Wars Lego game that I had (I think it was called the "complete saga") was based on the occurrences of a total of 6 movies. This new game will just be based on the events of one. I just hope they don't make a lot of stuff up out of thin air to compete the game.

I wouldn't be upset if they put it out with the first 6 "remastered" or whatever they call it.

I think when it was originally done some of the 1-3 games came out standalone, and 4-6 as the original trilogy, then at some point combined into a large complete saga release.

The preview looks pretty tight to the movie, but I have heard there will be some added content made up between episodes 6 and 7.

ah man... he was good... I think it was mouse-man. What's an average lobby though? We played a few different groups... some of them had people partied up like we were. I looked at my stats right before we played and I've played a #### ton of games (1500+) but win percentage was only 50.1%. Doubt we'd win at an 85% clip against any group.

Agreed. I liked the division beta but the bullet sponge higher level bad guys (especially in certain dark zone fights) broke some of the immersion for me.

Still gonna play it with friends but I'm not sure it will hold up as a solo experience
It won't. I was able to survive alright in the Dark Zone rolling by myself, but it just wasn't very fun. I got killed more often by AI that popped up out of nowhere as I was just running around trying to find something to do than by other players... there was one point where like 8 or 9 of us converged on a extraction point to get stuff out and no shots were fired. I think the fun to be had will be teaming up and strategizing with a squad of 2 or 3 other guys. Hopefully the skill trees and perks add more to it.

So as a break from Fallout I switch over to stick of truth. Just a load of silly fun.
I loved that game, and even better, it was short. I thought it was really well written and executed, and just the right length. Too many games are trying to pad to add hours (like a lot of the MGS:5 opinions above). I think I did everything, was done in about 15 hours, and enjoyed every minute of it.

Has anybody played the new iteration of Starcraft?
Played the first two releases of StarCraft II. Really liked the first, didn't get far into the second, other stuff going on and never been a fan of zerg campaigns, and haven't picked up the newest yet. Will get around to it at some point.

In the Standard 3v3 lobby I think we're a good clip above most. I don't know how to look at my stats though so maybe I'm on drugs when I say that. Does it take into account games that are already in progress when you enter and your team is down? I do have a feeling that if we played more together we'd consistently crush the standard lobby.

Lately, most of my time has been in the solo 3v3 ladder lobby and that group is leaps and bounds better than the standard lobby. That's actually why I didn't join you for the first invite, didn't want a 15 minute time-out for abandoning a ranked game.

If you ever want to play, I'll abandon any game I'm playing for a good RL match. About the only exception to that would be if I was grouped with my wife in another game.

One question for you PS4 Rocket League guys. Do you have crazy video lag when the game first starts? I'd say about 50% of the matches I join are still trying to load all the graphics when the game starts and I end up starting off really choppy and have to play the first 3-5 seconds by just muscle memory timing to make sure I don't miss the kickoff.

Firing up the division beta!
I'm on ps4, so not going to get a chance to try it out until later today... What's your impression so far?
Very good game, I want to play more story. The dark zone works well but if your alone your at the mercy of others. I mostly saw 2-3 person groups roaming. It's plays great and the 3rd person works well. It kind of has a dying light with no zombies and more guns feel. As in how the quests and feel of progression works. The "seamless" multi to campaign has worked 98% of the time with a few hard freezes tossed in but nothing terrible, it's a beta. A few times people's guns have floated above their heads instead of in their hands, as well as one time my friends person got clipped into the sky somehow and cease to move but he was still going on his screen. Great game.
.I'm trying to like this but I'm just not having much fun with it... maybe it's the people I'm playing with... maybe it's AI needing 3 full clips to the face to die, IDK.
It's an rpg not a fps. The health of enemies is solely dependent on your level related to theirs and your gear. Your expectations are off
That kind of scaling works well in a fantasy/sci-fi setup, but it feels very off in a game like the Division where the feel is supposed to be "real world." I thought the shooting felt much better in the beta than it did in the alpha, but I agree with Cockroach here. It really takes away from the realistic feeling of the gunplay.
I actually feel it makes the game better. It will prolong the gaming experience as an online platform. The rpg and scaling elements is what adds the replay ability. Without them it would be a campaign for call of duty. Also with using 3rd person, going with insta killing would make the dark zone just bad. I guess different strokes.
You're probably right, but I feel like in the short term it really affects the realism, which just affects the overall experience in something that's supposed to be grounded in "reality." I'll still likely buy it. If everything I've read is correct, it looks like the main story will be enough to make me feel like I got my money's worth.

Yea, I think it counts all games... IDK though. Still don't really know what you mean by average lobby and why we would've done better there. But yea, I agree... the ranked games are def more competitive than the standard 3v3 we were in. I'm down to play ranked but usually prefer the more casual play of non ranked. Less time inbetween matches and you get good little rivalries going by being able to replay the same group.

Yea... kind of BS. They should just postpone the matches another 5-10 seconds while everyone establishes a solid connection. Mine is less than 50% and sometimes it's worse than others... but yea, no reason for that.

Actually, the first Lego Star Wars was based on the prequel trilogy only. Lego Star Wars II was based on the original trilogy. Then they combined them in The Complete Saga. Then Lego Star Wars III was based on the Clone Wars. But I'm right there with you that having one based on only one movie sounds rushed and short.

I encounter that when I join a match in progress. I've even had a few games where the match never loaded anything but the ball, so I couldn't see any of the cars. I had a teammate upset at me once that I was missing his setups, but didn't understand when I would try to explain that I could only see a ball randomly knocked around. Chasing it was weird.

Jealous as he'll at PC guys right now. XCOM and Darkest Dungeon both look sensational. I know they're each making their way to consoles, but there's not much new to play currently and I want both of these yesterday.

I finally bought far cry 4 and it looks like they are coming out with one with dinosaurs this month.
Was going for 100% completion but just couldn't bring myself to do the druggie or Shangri-La quests. They just seemed so weird and out of place. That carried over to a few of the main story missions too.

Jealous as he'll at PC guys right now. XCOM and Darkest Dungeon both look sensational. I know they're each making their way to consoles, but there's not much new to play currently and I want both of these yesterday.
Pretty sure I saw Darkest Dungeon advertised in the PS Store

Not until Q2 2016.
I am a console player but Darkest Dungeon is such a simple game graphically you can play it on pretty much any computer you have in house if you want. You certainly don't need a gaming computer.

Yeah, I checked on this, but sadly my home desktop is so ancient that it actually won't run this game. (I need a new video card). I'll just hold out for the console release.

I've been posting in the XCOM thread but I've been playing the new XCOM2. They definitely took the difficulty up a notch on normal levels, which has always been a hallmark of the classic XCOM series. I love this style of strategic turn based game play. I would buy pretty much any game that employed it. Executing a successful ambush at the beginning of a mission is a real thing of beauty.

Diving into this tonight.

So pretty much exclusively swap between Rainbow 6 and this game called The Golf Club which is surprisingly good for a golf game (caveat: I've always loved golf games and find them relaxing).

I'm thinking hard about a Day One Edition preorder of Dark Souls 3 from Amazon. I was going to wait, but Amazon has their prime games at $47.

If you haven't, download Magnolia course. It's an Augusta replica

I've got it and that guy who made it did an incredible job.

I've been to the Masters 3x and would say that guy recreated the course better than when EA did it for the Tiger Woods game.

I'm glad to hear The Golf Club is decent. I've considered getting that one over the EA game.
It's good.

It doesn't look as good as maybe as the ea game and it doesn't have the same bells and whistles, but it's a good solid golf game. The major plus is an unlimited amount of courses because it's packaged with the course designer. The Augusta National remake is phenomenal, there's a great remake of Merion, there's a really good version of TPC Sawgrass, and on and on.

I will say the putting for me was extremely frustrating at first - it takes awhile to "get" that aspect of it.

Putting still eludes me
The best thing I can say on putting is to move your indicator to the desired distance.

Let's say your normal stroke goes 25 ft on a flat green.

If you have a 25 ft putt uphill 7 inches, you'll come up short. So move the indicator one foot further for every inch up to 32 ft plus an extra foot or two just to make sure you get it there. For me, I'd putt the distance indicator at 34 ft on a 25 footer that is uphill 7 inches. Then (this is the odd part) I'd take my normal 25 ft putting stroke. The game has some underlying calculation that smooths out that distance and you should end up near the hole.

It's a bit convoluted, but just by moving the indicator I've started sinking a lot of putts.

I already do that. My issue is with stroke length. I'm having trouble "stopping" at what I perceive to be the proper backswing. I've tried many camera angle, I can't get the backswing distance down

I still go through times when I'm hitting them left and right and then missing by just that much consistently. Haven't played in a while but if I picked it up again, I guarantee I'd leave 12 putts short on my first 18 holes.

Putting is hard (for me) in this game and it can be quite frustrating. Which is also why I think its a pretty darn good game.

I've hit two holes in one though and that is awfully satisfying. ETA: Did the whole controller flip too, stood and raised my hands directly into my ceiling fan. :bag:

I've done that. It hurts. Nothing else to add, but I feel your pain.
