I dunno.  I dont look at this as a multiplayer game.  I see it as a single player experience in a shared universe.  The size of the universe makes it so that if I do stumble upon a planet or something someone named, it's a huge discovery.  I kind of like that carrot-on-a-stick.  

Eve Online is there if you want a smaller universe to interact with other players.  It's a good game too once you get over the massive learning curve.

The inability to see other players right now is a bug they're working on.  Users should be able to.

I have to agree with bigmarc.  I never finished RE4 because of the controls.  I've heard that the controls are frustrating by design to fit the horror theme.  I may eventually go back to it, but my backlog is so long, I hope I'll have time.

It's not a matter of tough or easy, it's just the lack of cohesiveness in the RE games.  You walk, then you have to stop your movement completely to aim, then you slowly glide in a circle to aim.  It's just frustrating.

if they were to implement controls from other 3rd person games like Gear of War, Crackdown, Max Payne, and of the Naughty Dog games, etc... I would be much happier.

From reading his reviews, its feeling like you need to approach this game as a space survival simulator...you need to grind for resources to survive, you might explore for hours and find nothing, etc. Whether that is up anyone's alley is up to them, but I'm a little unsure of what to do...I feel like I need more information before I decide whether to purchase or not, but I also feel that even if I decide the game is for me, everything I've read in the reviews/articles will take away from what wonder I would otherwise have found in the game to begin with, which might ruin my experience before it even begins.

Tough call for me, might have to go dark on these articles and just go with my gut on whether to dive in or not.

I've had people tell me that too. That's a bad reason IMO - if you need controls to create suspense, then you've got bigger problems.

Interesting. I quit Uncharted(way back when) because I thought the controls, specifically the aiming, were awful. They had fixed those problems by The Last Of Us. But I never had any trouble with any RE controls. Different strokes I guess. I'm not sure what you mean by the slowly glide in a circle to aim. Maybe your sensitivity settings were too high? I'm able to whip back and forth from enemy to enemy just fine on the PS3 version.

Have you played the Witcher? If not get that instead. If you have, did you do all the side quests? That's what this NMS seems to be all about but without any one to really talk to. Wandering off and getting lost on your own made up missions.

It's definitely fine as a stand-alone title.  The main character was also the main guy in RE2, but that doesn't really matter.  The story has nothing to do with previous installments.

Obviously I think RE4 is a fantastic game, but do be warned that the controls are extremely dated and can be hard to get used to since we now all have "standard" TPS controls burned into our muscle memory.

I don't do a lot of TPS so it may not be a factor. I'll pick it up sooner or later. Haven't played anything scary since the Deep Space series.

Only on gaming forums.  I also watched a decent amount of gameplay when it came out on PC.  Most indie games don't appeal to me much, but this is definitely one of the ones that does.

CLUTCH! Rainbow Six

It was good. Not sure what the guy was doing while you were planting the bomb.  Probably tea bagging or something stupid.  I just turned this game back on yesterday for the first time in awhile.  

While not my best, this is probably my favorite win. I throw c4 to nail a guy carrying a shield and get him and his buddy who ran into the room trying to disarm. Everyone was cracking up on the group chat.

 I love everything about the game but I can't seem to get past the concept of the characters being disposable.  I love dungeon crawling and building up characters so this game continually bummed me out having to give up over and over again on characters I liked.

I only played for about 15 hours or so and I intend to go back with a fresh outlook this time and hopefully I will enjoy it more.

Massive crash issues with No Man's Sky. Like many, many, many people, my game gets to the Hello Games! load screen, shows a sprawling star system, and just stays there. If I click anything I lose mouse control.

Steam is flipping out. People are calling it the worst launch since SimCity5.

Got NMS for PC. Almost unplayable with the lag. Tweaked a bunch of the settings and restarted, still crazy laggy. After starting a 2nd time I was at least on the same planet but I can tell I'm not going to like the the way it saves. I didn't feel like I was really "exploring" as much as I was trying to crawl slowly to a resource and then crawl slowly back to my ship before I died (I'm now on a snow planet). I need another resource that's farther away than I can make in a round trip so I may start over on a nicer planet.

Can't be worst launch since SimCity 5.  Batman: Arkham Knight had a worse launch and it happened after it.  SimCity 5 didn't pull the game for nearly 6 months because of its disastrous launch.   But that sucks.  I hope things are sorted out.

After launch the developer said on Twitter that it needs OpenGL 4.5, when the minimum specs said it supported graphics cards with OpenGL 4.2. What a total clusterf@#k. How can you be that dumb if you're a game developer that's been developing this game for nearly 8 years?

I have a pretty good rig. But my card (GeForce 745) only supports 90% of OpenGL 4.5, so I'm out of luck.

Already requested a refund. Screw this game.

I lowered the resolution, turned off Vsync and then bumped up the frame rate (which seems counter intuitive to me). Made a huge difference. It's like wandering Skyrim while overburdened. Not great but playable. The lag is also still there but reduced. It was about 3 times worse before. I'd see something that said 2:11 to reach and about 5 or 6 seconds after walking towards it it read 2:10. 

I know I have a pretty old machine but I thought (based on the graphics I saw so far) I would be able to run this easily.I have an Intel Core i3 3240 so if yours is better than that it should run fine.

What GPU do you have?

I thought the game sounded dumb, but after watching some people play on twitch it looks chill and fairly interesting.  Not going to pay $60 and deal with headaches getting it to run, but when the price drops I will probably get in.

Another thing to note is that pci express 16 cards are backward compatible with older pci express 16 slots - e.g. you can use a 3.0 pci express 16 capable card in a 2.0 pci express 16 slot. Your card won't be able to take full advantage of its bandwidth capabilities in that case, but it's usually not that noticeable (people say anywhere between a 5 to 15% performance hit off the card's base capabilities). So if your motherboard has a pci express 16 slot on it, you probably don't need to replace it just to get a newer graphics card. You might need to upgrade your power supply if you get a high end graphics card though.

You won't miss out on anything but the glitches. I've "discovered" 5 planets and about two dozen animals but haven't had any desire to rename any of them YMMV but I thought they already had pretty cool names.

On my 3rd ship now, it's a tanker, not very cool but since you only fly in 1st person pov it doesn't really matter. It was crashed and had a lot of upgrades and I enjoy "repairing" them. 

My latest glitches have been landing the ship on treetops and getting out, dropping down to the trunks and getting stuck unable to move. Actually all my glitches have been related to being unable to move.

I bought Farcry 4 (PS4) for cheap in the meantime, never played a Farcry game before so I'm thinking between the open world and ridiculous fun it looks like I'll be busy for awhile anyways.

After having an xb1 for a year, I've decided the following are the three best games I've played...

3. Dark Souls 3 - Very enjoyable as a fan of the series.  I'm not sure it's hugely memorable at this point, but it's still very good. 

2. Rocket League - Most enjoyable pick up and play game I can ever remember.  Just good fast fun. There's really no excuse for not having played it at this point and probably the best bang for your buck. 

1. R6 Siege. I played non-stop when I got it for probably three straight months. Took a break and now I'm back again. Probably the most satisfying multiplayer shooter I've played since COD4 and Bad Company 2. Even if my shooting game isn't on, I can still be an integral part to the team which is nice. It's smart and enjoyable, and the balance is continually tweaked to make things fresh.  Only issue is kind of a large barrier to entry IMO / there are operators that I still don't know how to use properly with tons of hours played.

I have this but don't play it because I hate randoms. Let's play sometime. 

I'm currently breezing through NG+ in DS3. I should be able to get everything except the covanent stuff this play through. I'll roll a new room for the covanent stuff as it's easier to find summons your first playthrough.
