Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (3 Viewers)

I haven't played any of the Witcher 3 since I beat many months ago. I have the expansions but I just tired to hop in and I was completely lost. I'm thinking that I will need to play it again from the start (New Game+ maybe) but with limited story to pull me through I'm not sure if I can embark on this journey again. Feels daunting.

Hate the titanfall 2 tech test. They made a lot of changes from the first and all of them are bad choices or worse, annoying. Time to kill is much less and that hurts the game. Less Titans is poor choice as well as the ai being almost not there, that is what balanced the game. The game just feels not as good even when in classic mode. The kneel slide and grapple boost will be heavily abused. The game feels campy. I haven't been this disappointed in a game/beta since Gears Judgement. I love titanfall and it still holds up fantastic to this day(have been enjoying it the past week), but Titanfall 2 will be a pass until they fix a lot of things down the line. Also there match making is ####. Dainty and I play on the same great router with open nats. We only have slight problems with titanfall a little and nothing else, but titanfall 2 it has been unjoinable while in the same clan thingy. So disappointed. :/

Saving money I guess.

Sounds like you're a lot further along than me. I've only warped a few times and don't have any upgrades for the drive. I'm on my 4th ship with only 18 slots - I like fixing up the crashed ships you find. Today was the first time I rejected a crashed ship - it had fewer slots. If this keeps up I doubt I'll ever buy a ship. Won several space battles but lost my first one today and died. Partly due to it being 5 on 1, but mostly because I suck at space flight.

45 hours in, still slow, but I really enjoy this game.
Swapping for broken ships is the best way to upgrade in my opinion.  It's a lot cheaper to fix one up than it is to buy new.  If you do find a ship that has less slots, you can still part it out (accept it as your ship, part it out, then go back to your old ship and accept it as your ship).  You can end up getting some pretty good items from that.

I would love to see number of people who demanded a refund on Steam. It has to be enormous. As a percentage, I'm guessing well over 50%.

I thought I had finding ships figured out. I found two by selecting "locate transmission" (instead of Monolith, station, or shelter) from a beacon. But my last 3 transmissions were from Observatories (my favorite). I'm now simply landing and setting off going from question mark (point of interest) to question mark and not returning to my ship until I can call it from an outpost that has a recall tower.

Right now I'm focusing on arming my ship, I'm not looking for space battles but this barely surviving ambushes is for the birds.

I never played the first one.  But played the tech test on PS4 over the weekend.  TTK was crazy low.  So low I thought the players were the NPC guys that were running around... and I thought there were plenty of those.   It definitely wasn't great, but was pretty fun.  If they had a dense 1 player/co-op experience I could see getting it to play with a friend.

Just got an email from PlayStation saying that PS Plus is going up from 49.99 a year to 69.99 a year.

The extra money isn't a huge deal but the fact that they are upping it (it is required to play online) and they're coming out with a new console every couple of years, it might be time to switch over to a PC.

Going to do a little research now.

I'm on xb1.

I thought about PC but I just don't play that seriously.  I love playing R6 Siege and can hold my own on XB1. I frequently have games where I'm 5-1 and contributing. No way in hell I could do that with a mouse and keyboard. My reflexes aren't good enough.

It's getting a lot of negative feedback on Reddit.

I enjoyed. The first one. Actually my least favorite part was the Titans themselves, but I did have fun with it. Everything I'm reading is that it feels empty because they got rid of the AI guys running around, and also that it takes longer to get Titans.
Yeah, I pretty much agree with most of the negatives listed out there. It's not really a sequel to Titanfall as it is a reinvention. And not in a good way. I have no intention of buying TF2. And I'm a guy who could have learned a language in the amount of time I put into the first one.

I'm guessing that "play that seriously" is in regards to the price? Or the effort to "maintain" them? Maybe both since that's why I've stayed away from them.

The price point is starting to get a lot closer now though. Between cheaper games, longer game life through mods and now it seems like they are going to be releasing new consoles quicker. *I also only have basic cable because I never watch TV so I'm okay with setting up a PC on my big TV. Then cutting out cable completely.*

As for the maintenance and upgrades aspect, it seems like you can buy pretty good pre-made systems now that are well beyond consoles. Most of the major console games come to PC as well, so I'm guessing that as long as you aren't looking "ultra-mega 10k" graphics we should be fine without upgrades for awhile.

As far as shooters go, despite my enjoyment of them I'm not good/quick enough to win far fights anyways. Half the time I don't even see the person in the distance shooting at me. I have to win gunfights because of knowing maps and taking routes and that kind of thing. So I'm not to worried about that switch.

This feels like a bad relationship where PlayStation got a new high paying job so they think they can treat people like garbage now. :D

Well it's price, maintenance, and playability.

I want to sit on the couch and play. I can't do that with a mouse and keyboard, and I can't compete against those players with a controller.

Interesting point. Never thought about that. I will have to look into some options for this problem as well.

Mostly valid criticisms. I especially agree with the disappointment of different ships not handling differently and not specializing by type (ie fighter, science, freighters, etc). Some of the things he didn't like I wasn't even expecting so I'm not on the same page there. I felt like I had watched a lot of demos and read a lot of articles and yet there were many clips in there I hadn't seen. I stopped at the spoiler warning - I'm only 65 hours in an nowhere near the center.

My three criticism are:

1. Sentinels. F those guys. They don't make sense and they're counter to the game play. The only limitation to gathering resources should be the players style/patience and capacity.

2. Finding blueprints I already know. If I could sell the extra blueprint it wouldn't be so bad, but walking a distance to a "point of interest" question mark only to find a single damaged pod hold a print I already know is like travelling to a large chest in Skyrim and finding it empty. Not a deal break, but it sucks and happens more and more frequently as you "learn" more.

3. No save/pause. This is my same criticism for Watchdogs and it's worse in this game. There are simply times when you want to save where you're at and it should be IMO a universal game design standard. Last night I was "9 minutes" (at least 40 - 50 minutes game time) away from my ship when I had to stop. FML.

For me, this game satisfies my "lone wanderer/survivor" itch even more than Fallout. I can absolutely see that it's not for everyone.

Ships come from the Transmission towers specifically (ruins come from observatories).  Discover a transmission tower, solve the puzzle, get a crashed ship distress signal.

You should really put sarcasm quotes around "puzzle".

Controllers work on pc too.  You aren't "required" to play with mouse/keyboard.

I know but if I'm playing a shooter, mouse/keyboard is going to thrash a controller every single time.  I'd be fine with mouse/keyboard if I played at a desk, but I don't, and I'm not going to play at a disadvantage because I like to play from my couch.

If your on PS4 just put your console in rest mode.

Problem solved.

I know we play Rocket League on Steam, but I have it on XB1 as well for anyone out there that wants to party up.  I'm IndyMark007 on both platforms.
I have been trying t figure out who IndyMark was on FBGs forever now from my xbox friends list....did you have a different name before?

BTW, I am completely done with Mass Effect 3 and all the dlc except the last two story missions. I  LOVE this game. I have beat ME1 over five times and ME2 three times now, but never ME3. I wish they made more story based video games. Before firing up the X360 to play this I was in a mini gaming rut due to many of my friends mostly play shooters, but between this and rocket league it is refreshing. I guess I just need to play more story based games, which can be tough sometimes due to the lack of story based coop games. (ty Borderlands)

Well move south only 59 in the states
Hahahaha. Almost did in 2008. Down to Houston. For work not video games though. :D

Your consoles are between $50 and $100 dollars cheaper than up here. And games at $80 up here compared to $60(?) down there?

Makes sense considering your CAD is only worth $.77 in USD.

My oldest has lit the fuse that it's time we get a PS4.  I advised oldest that as soon as he gets a job he can have whatever he wants.  Wife has determined that this might have been a bit harsh because birthday is approaching and we have to get something.  I advised that, technically, there is no law requireing me to get anything, but if I have to get something, I will make sure the electric and cable bills are paid so that wifi works for the PS3.  There was not much laughter after that comment.

So, I have made the decision, so she tells me, to purchase a PS4.  Any deals, coupons, blind people I can steal one from, that anyone knows about?

How old is the son going to be?  Amazon bundles run about tree fiddy.  (seriously that's the cost)

PS4 Uncharted bundle for $370, IMO.

Get the Uncharted Remastered set of 1-3.

They're releasing a slim PS4 that has one advantage...it's slimmer.

Doesn't affect anything.

The Neo will feature some 4k ability but further details are sketchy.

Not as bad as the UK. I lived there for a year and used a VPN to use the USA store to use the dollar over the pound. Between that and game sharing my girlfriend and I saved $500.

Nope.  Always been IndyMark007 on XBL and now Steam.  Played COD almost exclusively back in the day, so probably from that.  Still have fond memories of playing with GOAT and a bunch of others way better than me.  I couldn't get into Advanced Warfare and pretty much gave up on COD after that.  Now I'm playing Destiny and Rocket League most of the time.

Am playing silver rank R6 Siege still. I had a leftover Amazon card and bought the season pass. I wanted to use the new operators without leveling up forever, so it was worth it.

The US attackere with the shield on his rifle is awesome.  I go to the rooftop, repel upside down and bust out the top of a window, free shots inside with just your covered head showing = money. I had some monster rounds just doing that.

:goodposting:

I can see the appeal of VR, but I find it really hard to imagine people shutting themselves off from the outside world to that degree for run-of-the-mill gaming.
I don't want to talk to, jump around in front of or on, or wear my gaming systems or controls. I want to sit and control them with a handheld device. Please stop spending millions on gimmicks and spend it on game development instead.

I think I have some of my various towers confused, but I think I recall the distinction of a "distress signal" and other transmissions. Sometimes I'm at those things with an orange beam going up and you can pick from one of four options - I know what "shelter" means and pretend that I didn't learn that and mix it up. There are "transmission towers" that find various things - you don't choose - it just tells you what it finds. And there are observatories, and they find a variety of locations as well. I think.

Anyway, tonight I'm on a mission to get my AtlasPass - it's just driving me crazy all the containers and doors that need one. And then back to upgrading my ship. Unless I get sidetracked. Which is pretty much guaranteed.  :stalker:

Gears 4 is coming. Manakin, Pablo and I have been grinding through a Gears 3 Insane campaign run (on twitch and YouTube for those interested). We hope to have it all done by the time Gears 4 rolls out time permitting.

:lmao: :lmao:  at the ending. You should really watch that part.

Boys, you're killing me here. I've googled "weird Canadian electricity" and now "Fn electricity"

I'm assuming you're joking but I don't actually know.
Yeah you guys have that 220 volt and need all the special 3 prong adapters and ####.

Was totally kidding and comparing it to old European electricity

The Witness coming to XB1. Anyone play it?  I really enjoyed Braid and also like Myst-like games, so I think it might be right up my alley.
