Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (5 Viewers)

dear god I am blanking on this entirely.  I am at level 90 and deep into maps and can't remember this at all.

The main boss in act 6 is the Brine King, and he does not have any portals to get to his area....
No, it was chamber of sin in Act 7.  Maligaro is not the final boss, but one of the end bosses.

I miss college football and basketball games.  I hope they can eventually agree on a deal that works for everyone so they can bring back those games.

Was just thinking this. I don't know if it's nostalgia it not but I had some great memories playing NCAA football around 2000-03. Starting a program and building it from scratch was some good times. Worst thing that happened to the football genre was NCAA stopping games and NFL signing exclusive license with EA.

Thanks O'Bannon

Yes, absolutely. It was a much better game than it gets credit for.

I just did a somewhat detailed write up on my experience.

The combat is a blast.
I spent several hours playing this, and the combat feels like a massive, gigantic step backwards from ME2/ME3.  Unless I'm completely missing something, there's no way to take control of my squadmates and use their powers, right?  I remember being able to do that in the earlier games, but I'm not seeing it here.

I kinda think i might be over PUGB, although maybe its just my frustration from playing as a single. (which is basically luck of the draw if you drop in a busy area or a total bore if you try to loot in peace)
I got this game for PC and can't for the life of me figure out why it's so popular.  The game doesn't render properly until a minute or two on the ground for me (i7 / gtx 960) and just feels like a broken mess.  Maybe my specs aren't beefy enough yet or something.

It could be that I'm just low-level but I don't like spawning in with bare fists while others are running around in the pregame with assault rifles and snipers either.  Wish I could get my $30 back

The weapons in the pregame are over over on the picnic tables. And they're just for fun. Everyone jumps from the plane empty handed

Yes that portion is true and I agree. That was a weird change.

Got bored this week and went back and started a new legacy on College Hoops 2k8.  I forgot how hard recruiting is at those crappy schools.

It's that time of year again and I start longing to play football on my console.  I go online to read the Madden reviews - not the glossed over reviews on the pro sites which are basically paid for by the game publishers - but the actual comments in the reviews section.  I'm amazed to see people complaining in 2017 about missing features that were considered standard in 2004 (not coincidentally, the last year of competition in football video games)... logical penalty calls, halftime shows, franchise modes, career points, etc.  We had all of these things almost fifteen years ago on two systems prior and yet EA can't churn out a ####ing video game today that can address any of these areas?  Really?  How much of a ####ty cash grab is that?

(Remind me to cut and past the exact same thing next year and the year after and the year after...)

It's really a testament to what EA is truly good at; Marketing. They spend billions on marketing each year and thats how they make money. They ruin their games with all these undercutting practices but still manage to see a profit because of the hype generate. How can someone justify buying Madden every year for the last 10 years? It's basically DLC at best for a new and fresh $60 annually.

This is why I'm fine with getting my Madden through EA Access, which is only $30 annually and also include other EA games that I enjoy playing.  Will I get the game day one?  No, but I can wait six months to play it.  I usually waited a season between buying them to save on it anyway.  NCAA Football 14 was the last football game I bought day one, but I waited another year before I bought Madden 25 (aka Madden '14).

Bought Elite Dangerous for PS4 today and picking up tomorrow. I've been wanting to play this for a long time. I used to play the #### out of this on my old C64. Remember how hard docking was back then as you had to get the approach just right, then rotate in sync with the space station. Hopefully I can get the wife and kid out of the house for like eight hours tomorrow.

Finally beat Samorost 3.  Point and click atmospheric puzzle game.  Man I wish I could find the words to explain how enjoyable this game was.  It's the first time I've cared about story in a long time.  I felt like a kid playing that game.

Does it have the DLC?  I might buy it and I don't even have a PS4 yet.
If you're a fan of the Souls franchise, this is arguably the best game on the system.  It does have DLC, which I haven't played but I heard is hard as hell.

I decided to put Andromeda down and switch over to XCOM 2, which is on sale on PSN.  I played the hell out of the previous title, not that I ever mastered it, but it was a good, controller-throwing game. This one allegedly had all sorts of technical problems on consoles at launch, so I kept putting it off.  My understanding is that most of the issues have been fixed (the loading times are still on the long side), and I can't really argue with $24 for a digital copy.  The expansion that's coming out doesn't sound like my cup of tea, which made it a little easier to spring for the vanilla version the game.

I'm 12 missions in, and so far this is a superlatively good game if you're into this sort of thing.  My biggest concern with the gameplay was that most of the missions are now timed -- which forces you to play aggressively and not just slowly plug your way along in constant overwatch -- but I'm finding that the mission timers are set about right.  Generous, but not so generous that you can just blow them off.  Now the occasional un-timed mission feels like a nice change of pace, but I like the added strategy that the timer gives you.

Not sure if I'm doing this right, but I just totally ignored the Advent meter and let it max out before bothering to do the first black site mission.  As a result, I was able to get in a bunch of construction and research, so I've got a squad of six almost all decked out with plasma weapons (missing the cannon for my grenade guy).  I'm hoping that knocking out the black site will buy sufficient time to get more radio contacts in place.  I have pretty decent capacity to get relays up, again thanks to all the construction I've done.  I just need to knock the meter down a bit and start to roll it back.  Or maybe I already screwed myself.  Guess I'll find out.  Seriously though, I've got the guerrilla training school, advanced warfare building, proving grounds, a radio link room, a power relay built on a coil, a workshop under construction, and another vacant spot.  It feels like that was the way to go.

Best Buy has a deal for an Xbox One S bundle with a game for $250 and another free game of your choice.

Is there any way a Black Friday deal could beat that?

I want an "S" for the 4k player.

Once the Advent counter maxes out, you still have an additional 20 days to accomplish any Advent mission and roll back the clock. There's no rush whatsoever throughout the game as long as you know you can access one of the Advent sites when the need arises.

Sounds like a good deal. Microsoft was offering  2 free games but it looks like the popular ones are sold out. You may save a few bucks or get an additional game on Black Friday. The XBox One X is releasing the first week of November which could push prices down a little.

I believe the most recent patch changed things. The timer still starts at 20 but if you let it run basically all the way down the first time ( before doing the mission) it won't be 15 days again the next time. It will only reset to like 6.

Just make sure you have multiple facility mission options so you don't get caught without one to do if Advent makes a breakthrough and immediately completes the timer twice in a row

Possible. I quit playing it when I picked up Witcher 3. So it has been at least a month.

Thanks.  If I fail this particular game, no big deal.  I will be replaying this one a lot.

Super fun game. You've got the right strategy so far, IMO. I let the clock get to one bar away and then mow through a couple Advent sites. Warning, the game will catch up to you and make the endgame difficult. Really, really well done and beautiful game. Have fun!

I bought a PS3 late just to play Demons Souls and the Last of Us...

beaten Demons Souks, Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3. I will at some point get a PS4 essentially just for Bloodborne and the Last of Us 2.

My youngest was excited the new rosters came out for the last version available on the PS3 for NCAA Football.  He's been playing non stop.

Forza5 is one of the free games on Xbox One this month.  Downloaded and played quite a bit over the weekend.  I think I'm already bored of it.

Finished the main story of Horizon Zero Dawn last night, took me about 85 hours.  May be my favorite game of all time, replacing Skyrim.

I'm going to let the story sink in for a bit and also finish the few tasks I have left to get my platinum then decide.  This will be my first platinum, but I feel I owe it to the game.  (This one is also supposed to be relatively easy, I'm at 85% currently.)

Yep the only game I've ever platinum

Nope. But congratulations on your new Xbox.
I wanted the 4k Blu Ray player.

Hard to beat a $50 trade in bonus for the old system plus a free game (Destiny 2) in addition to the Madden that came with the new system - all for $250.

Heck yeah. That's a great deal. Always fun to get a new system. I noticed that you didn't offer up Destiny 2. Are you going to try and getting into it?
