Vikings press conference at 11am (1 Viewer)

ESPN made a good point.. TCF is setup for College Football. They'd first have to get the 20+ inches of snow off the field, then move the hash marks (not a biggy) & bring in different Goal posts.

Detroit is #1 possibility, but they are also considering New Orleans.

In Bud Grant's day they would have cleared the ice on Minnetonka and played it right there. If anybody twisted an ankle in an ice fishing hole they would have just rubbed some lutefisk on it an sent them back out there. The Vikings ahve sucked since they turned from fierce norsemen under Grant stomping frost bit opponents at the old Met to quiche eating, plastic fantastic, humperdome leg humpers.

Get this once great franchise back outside.

The NFL is reading my posts. Now mentioning Ford Field as alternative. I am so far ahead of these guys, it's amazing.
so who pays the vikings for the lost revenue?
More importantly, who actually attends the game?????
Local freeloaders like when they gave away charger/phins tix in Tempe. They asked for donations and people were dropping sonic coupons in the cash receptacles.
Say a lot about phoenix.

That would happen anywhere when the word "free" is thrown out there. They need to charge at least $10 to keep riff raff to a minimum.

heard that new Orleans report too. Any reasoning behind that? Seems a little out of the way for both.
Guessing they are looking for domes where the Fox crew is already setup. St. Louis @ New Orleans today means a Fox film crew wouldn't need to move. Detroit makes the most sense since its close, but I'd guess N.O. is a viable alternate if it can't be played in Detroit for any reason. Vikings might also be opposed to playing in Detroit since it's supposed to be a home game for them and I'd guess fans there would probably root for the Giants. Although I don't know how much say they really have in this at this point, but New Orleans would probably be a more neutral site.

Put lutefisk on it and no one will tackle the guy for the rest of the game. We use that stuff at Xmas to take the paint off walls.

Probably want to make sure both teams can get in and out of the city as well. Not sure what the weather is like up in Detroit or what is forecast over the next couple of days

:goodposting: Didn't think about the weather:Snow along with gusty winds at times. Low 16F. Winds NNW at 25 to 35 mph. Chance of snow 80%. Snow accumulating 2 to 4 inches. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Screw L.A. Move them north. The Bemigi Vikings would be awesome.

I've choked it down before. I know its power. Far better to use externally than to take internally.

lol, my secretary is from bemigi, otherwise i would have never heard of that icebox.that would be awesome by the way.

Good god. Just man up, ship in the Giants cold weather gear and play it at U Minn Gopher Stadium.Minn gets the revenues. The stadium is filled with Vikes fans. No one has to travel anymore. The complaint: "It's too cold." Sorry, did those tough guy millionaires just say it's too cold? Call in Bud Grant for a pep talk then.
:goodposting: This is the correct thing but I'm hearing them say they can't play outdoors because Giants don't have correct gear. But as Saints stated above they could easily ship the gear in. NFL will wuss out here. They are talking Detroit.

i refuse to eat that until i have tenure and know i will be in mn for years to come; then i think it is a law actually.

Indy is my guess.
Possible also. Those are the best options. There really are no other intelligent options.
Why not K.C. ???
It's not a dome. It forces Minnesota to travel to where the Giants already are. It's outside and the game needs to be inside since that is the original setup.
I can't see them giving 2 ####s about it being in a dome or not

TCF Stadium home of the Gophers, outdoor football at its best :goodposting:

Well, they have hash-marks and goalposts at the Metrodome that nobody is using this weekend...

This. They should be able to ship them cold weather gear by Monday night.

Vikes told the TCF stadium had been shut down too long, would take a week to get it up and running. They'll need to do that for next week, though, because there's apparently no time table yet on this fix, which looks terrible. This happened in '83 too? What a joke.

I'm thinking next Monday nights game WILL be played at the Outdoor TCF Stadium.. :jawdrop: After viewing that roof collapse I don't see how they fix that in a week's time.
