I Love Doggies
Bucs agreed to terms with Vincent Jackson a five-year, $55,555 contract, including $26 million guaranteed.

Jackson will earn $26 million over the first two years and $36 million over the first three.

Vincent Jackson - WR - Chargers

According to the St. Petersburg Times, free agent Vincent Jackson to the Bucs is "close to a done deal."

Flush with salary cap space, the Bucs went strong after V-Jax while the Redskins and Rams turned to Pierre Garcon. Per NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora, other teams are already moving on, realizing they can't compete with the Bucs. The only legit No. 1 receiver on the market, Jackson would be a boon for Josh Freeman's fantasy value. :RotoWorld

Already been announced on 98.5 SportsZone Boston

Whoa... Assumed he would go to Miami after the Marshall trade. Mike Williams value drops a ton...
Disagree. Jackson has never been a target hog. He's more of a deep threat, which should command a lot of the double teams Williams was seeing last year. Besides, Williams value was already in the tank before this.

Or is it going to be a bust for Vjax value. Pretty big difference between Freeman and Rivers.

This is what I was thinking/hoping as well
Me too.
Not enough balls to go around - see how the #2 WR's did in SD.

If TB signs Jax, then the Chargers better figure something out fast, or Rivers and company will be the butt of the AFC Worst.

Just because SD hasn't produced a viable #2 WR for some time doesn't mean it can't or won't happen in Tampa. I'm not seeing Gates in their lineup, or LT2, or Sproles.....

They do have a TE who catches 70 passes a year and Lumpkin got 40 last year.

Winslow is not Gates, and he's got 2 bum knees. You're not seriously going to compare Lumpkin to Sproles or LT2 are you? Point being, there is room in this offense to support Mike Williams and Vincent Jackson as fantasy plays. Now, whether or not Mike Williams works hard and makes himself a viable starter is another matter.

Freeman would be to be in the Stafford level of completions for Williams to get as many catches as last year. I think he can catch more than 3 TD's but you have to admit his upside is limited.

:goodposting: I'm not happy about this. Now wishing I would have traded VJax.

So does this mean the much hyped WR Benn of a couple of years ago now looks to be nearly worthless in fantasy football?

I have always said that VJax is a good but not great WR, who benefited from having a great WR throw him the ball and a great TE attract coverage. I don't think VJax in Tampa will be as good of a fantasy producer as most will.

The Buccaneers and the free-agent receiver reached a contract agreement,

Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported via Twitter.

or maybe its Mike Williams who is becoming worthless?
I know I'm in the minority, but I think Benn will be a better WR than Williams in the near future. Gonna try and nab him for cheap now in some leagues.

VJAX owner and I'm not really excited about this. I thought all the talk was that the Bucs were going to run the ball constantly. But then again, a guy like VJAX could be on a team like that and still post a 3/87, long TD kind of statline most weeks. I would have to think if they ARE running it ad naseum, then VJAX is certainly the type that can get one deep once a game.

Jackson was a bit of a disappointment with Rivers. What makes people think that he will be better in Tampa? Freeman?
Not sure anyone said he'd be better, but how was he a disappointment with Rivers? He has 3 straight 1,000 yard seasons not including the one we sat out.

Maybe I'm missing it, but it seems to me that most people think he will not be a good fit there at all...at least for fantasy purposes.

I think there were plenty of people that expected him to break the top 15 in yards. He's a deep threat but I would also guess people expected him to be in the top 40 in catches. He's also never broke single digits in touchdowns. It will be interesting to see how much money he finally ends up with.

He was two yards away from doing so...
