Vincent Jackson vs Sydney Rice (1 Viewer)

Everybody wants to say VJ will be a beast when he returns but remember he is getting the league minimum $600K from $3.2Million, does not want to be part of the Chargers next year AND has not played all season long. Why would anyone want to perform well under those conditions? I think he will be an unreliable WR3 at best, maybe post WR2 numbers one of the fantasy playoff weeks. Is it worth that risk?
He is playing for a contract and has Rivers. So it doesn't benefit him at all to perform poorly and it should be a pride thing. Why do you think he held out so long so that the Chargers couldn't get him on the cheap for this year? While trying to force a trade. Now they got him on the cheap for the minimal amount of games. If VJ doesn't put up 10 plus points in week 12(give or take a week) and on. I'd be suprised.
This is a good posting. Anyone who has ever played sports, knows you always go out and give your all, you really can't help it if you're a competitor.

Unless, of course, you are Randy Moss.

A coaching staff couldn't care less about a player's contract situation. The coaches and players will be glad to have him.

Look at Crabtree last year and how grateful Singeltary was to have him.

On the field.. is on the field.

While it remains uncertain if Sidney Rice will return to play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, there is one sure thing when it comes to the situation involving the wide receiver.

The Vikings have until a week from Wednesday to activate Rice from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, or he will have to remain on that list for the remainder of the season and won't be eligible to play in 2010.

Rice, who underwent hip surgery in late August, started practicing on Nov. 3, opening a three-week window in which he could practice but did not have to be placed on the 53-man roster. That exemption will end Nov. 24.

There was some feeling that Rice was going to play last Sunday against Chicago but the Vikings' leading receiver from a year ago felt enough soreness after a week of practice that he didn't feel comfortable giving the go-ahead. Coach Brad Childress has made it clear in recent weeks that this will be Rice's call.

Rice, who is receiving advice from agent Drew Rosenhaus, faces a dilemma at this point as to whether it's worth coming back for this season. The Vikings could be 3-7 if they lose Sunday to the Packers and if Rice sits out of that game, he might feel that returning to play six games for a team going nowhere isn't worth the risk.

Rice stands to become a free agent after this season and likely already cost himself money by not having hip surgery earlier in the offseason and thus returning in time to play most of this year. He might feel the wisest choice for him now will be to present his 2009 stats (83 receptions, 1,312 yards, eight touchdowns) to potential employers, with the assurance that he's completely healthy and ready to go

Setting aside the fact that his play will contribute to setting his future value, if this is truly personal between him and the team/GM, he's going to try to play out of his mind for the balance of the year and then walk away. It's the best revenge.

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/..._iaEYY_4Pc_yiiUInteresting take on Rice playing this year. Watch the video the two announcers are saying that once the Vikings lose this week that there will be no reason for Rice to return this year. Anyone heard anything about Rice this week?

The NFL Network' reports that Vikings WR Sidney Rice (hip) is "almost certain" to play in Week 11 against the Packers. Vikings coach Brad Childress said Friday that if Rice isn't active in Week 11, he likely will be done for the season. The Vikings have until Saturday afternoon to bring him off the PUP if he's going to be able to play on Sunday.
