No link attached to that blurb, though, which suggests that they may have been picking up on the same things we have from the gamebook. I wasn't able to confirm through any local sources one way or the other so I left my note open-ended for now. I'll PM coolnerd to see if he noticed anything.According to Rotoworld, Brown was moved to SS, with Hutchins starting at FS.
Okay, okay, I give in, you got me. I have been a subscriber to a different site and did not want to shell out another fee to join here, but I can't hold off any more. There is obviously a lot more detailed IDP content here (like I didn't already know that) and it looks like some of my competition subscribes here already. I gotta keep up!At the risk of fussing our subscribersPerry Ice said:11 tackles, one week wonder or someone to keep an eye on?, here's the blurb regarding Hutchins in tomorrow's Reading the Defense. This week’s mirage pickup at DB will be Von Hutchins, who finished Week 2 with 11 solo tackles. As we recommended with Jim Leonhard and Reggie Nelson last week, leave Hutchins for your leaguemates. Six of those 11 solos came on the last drive of the game in a prevent defense and nearly every tackle was well down the field. The interesting note here comes from the gamebook, which suggests that CC Brown lined up at SS. If that’s true, and Michael Boulware can’t crack the lineup soon, Brown is a sneaky grab off your waiver wire. Brown has the skill set of a strong safety but has always been the best FS option on the roster. If he moves into a full time run support role, he’s definitely rosterable. Deep leaguers should move now while those in shallow leagues can give it one more week to watch the alignment and potential impact of Boulware and Will Demps.
Slightly off topic, I used to subscribe elsewhere, but FootballGuys is so far and away the best product I have seen so I only subscribe here now. Other sites may be superficially prettier, but I want information!SUBSCRIBE NOW! You won't regret it!Okay, okay, I give in, you got me. The FBG collective strikes again. Awesome information, coolnerd, and very much appreciated. Watch out for Brown. This might be the opportunity we've been waiting for out in Houston; if Brown can prove himself in run support, it might be difficult for Boulware to crack the lineup if Hutchins is serviceable.Plenty of ifs, but get ready to move. From everything I can tell, Hutchins was at FS and CC Brown at SS. Long term, Kubiak seems to have concern about Hutchins abililty to physically hold up (I maybe able to find a quote). Also, the Texans while they do flip-flop the safeties, the responsibilities between the two are not significant.Edit:On the radio, Kubiak said that Brown had his best week in two years on Sunday. Also, it seemed to be hinted that if Boulware plays significant time, he will play more "in-the box" than the Texans currently do with any of the safeties currently.
Thanks Coolnerd, I have a couple questions ... Do you think Boulware will win the SS starting job? ... If so, How long before he starts?... Kubiak does not seem to be a change w/o reason type of guy. As long as the Texans defense is playing well with Brown and Hutchins, I would say that Boulware/Demps combination gets rotation time, but does not overtake the current duo. If I am remembering the schedule correctly, after the colts game the Texans go through a month or so run against mediocore or below offenses. As for long term, I am not convinced that the Texans have their long-term answers at safety on the roster. However, if the front seven continues to develop and play well, it can hide the questions at S.Thanks Coolnerd, I have a couple questions ... Do you think Boulware will win the SS starting job? ... Hutchins was converted to FS from CB. He is 5'9 185ish. As such he has better coverage and ball skills than anyone else at safety for the Texans so they can do more things with coverage scheme with him playing. How is Hutchins in coverage?
