i was as surprised as most to see STL install 'spoon at MLB b/c his size 6'1 130.

Do think he will suceed? If not who do you think will be his backup at MIKE? I don't see one on STL's roster...

130 is pretty small for a linebacker

easier for him to slip thru the blockers

i wouldn't worry about the size too much...

within about 5 lbs of guys like mike peterson, jonathan vilma, antonio pierce, nick barnett, shelton quarles, odell thurman, lofa tatupu, lemar marshall & gary brackett that have starred at the position in recent seasons... if anything, we might say that soon is the norm among the frontline MLBs (uhrlacher, ray lewis and zach thomas are a little bigger) to evolve into the type that may not currently be called "prototypical" in size & a bit undersized, but that are athletic, three down & can run, hit & cover...

at which point they will be called prototypical... :)

they payed spoon a lot of money to play the middle... for dynasty leaguers, it is conceivable he could be redeployed at WLB, if say tino isn't re-signed in 2007 & they find a stud MLB in future draft...

but he would be a star from WLB as well... & they don't have MLB on roster as it is presently constituted to make such a move plausible (trev faulk strictly a backup & depth type)...

So you don't think much of McGarigle?I know he's a 7th rounder and has some flaws in his game, (poor coverage skills, short arms and not what you would call athletic), but is very smart, outstanding instincts and considered a coach on the field, who was extremely productive in college. (NCAA's All-Time leading tackler). Just a good football player who scouts label an overachiever. I didn't see it, but I read somewhere he struggled shedding in East/West Shrine game. May be nothing more than a 2 down backer at best.
