Daryl Washington is a GTD. He was limited in practice, but reports have him on the doubtful side of questionable. If he plays, he could be eased back as part of a rotation with Stewart Bradley. If he doesn’t play, expect a mix of both Bradley and Reggie Walker again this week.
Seattle
David Hawthorne didn’t play in passing subpackages last week (Matt McCoy replaced him) and didn’t look very healthy on base downs. KJ Wright replaced Aaron Curry at OLB midweek. That leaves this week’s rotation up in the air. Expect Wright and Curry to rotate, though Wright should get the majority of base defensive snaps. Wright or Curry or Hawthorne could join McCoy in nickel packages. I’m not sure I’d trust Wright as an every-down prospect yet and it’s possible that this could be Hawthorne’s opening to get back in.
Atlanta
Stephen Nicholas was added to the injury report with a calf injury on Friday. Jonathan Babineaux remains out and Kelvin Hayden is back on the sidelines this week.
Tampa Bay
Quincy Black is out this week. Dakoda Watson replaces him, but Mason Foster will get his first chance to play every down today.
St. Louis
James Butler and Craig Dahl rotated last week at one safety spot, with Darian Stewart (who’s primarily been the nickel OLB) also getting a small handful of deep safety snaps. That looks likely to continue. Ben Leber is on the injury report with a groin injury, but hasn’t been an every-down player. Chris Chamberlain could see more snaps this week, but not enough to have much fill-in value.
Denver
Elvis Dumervil is out this week. Jason Hunter will again replace him. DJ Williams has been limited this week in practice but Mike Klis thinks it’ll be one more week before he returns. That keeps Joe Mays and Wesley Woodyard as every-down players for one more week.
Tennessee
Chris Hope will likely miss this week. Jordan Babineaux replaced him last week. The Titans should have the full complement of rotational bodies at DE, with Williams Hayes questionable but practicing fully on Friday and Derrick Morgan and Jason Jones off the injury report completely.
Detroit
DeAndre Levy is questionable and there’s not much information out there on him other than his missing practice on Wednesday didn’t seem too concerning. Consider him a GTD and a nickel rotation is possible if he goes.
Green Bay
Charlie Peprah will replace Nick Collins at safety. I expect fewer big plays from Peprah, but I expect that his role will be similar to Collins’ and that Morgan Burnett will see his usual number of snaps in the box.
Chicago
The mess at safety continues, with Major Wright and Chris Harris both questionable. Chris Conte and Brandon Meriweather could start today, but both are likely to see lots of rotational time regardless.
New Orleans
Jo-Lonn Dunbar will start for Jonathan Vilma (knee) today. I think we’ll primarily see Jonathan Casillas and Scott Shanle as the nickel backers, though, making Dunbar a risky start as more than a so-so LB3 against Houston. Roman Harper practiced fully on Friday and is probable.
Jacksonville
Aaron Kampman is still out and Matt Roth was added to the injury report with a neck problem. Dwight Lowery is expected to replace Courtney Greene at safety this week, but Chris Prosinski may begin seeing more than a handful of snaps, too.
Carolina
Charles Godfrey will miss this week’s game, with Jordan Pugh expecting to get the start in his place. Pugh is an interesting upside play this week if you’re stuck for DB help. Jason Williams was named the starting WLB this week, with Thomas Williams taking over as the nickel OLB. That’s a situation to watch for future changes, though.
Miami
Karlos Dansby is probable with a groin injury, but these are the kind of injuries that have limited his range and production in the past two seasons. Marvin Mitchell may see some rotational snaps for him today. Vontae Davis is out.
New England
Patrick Chung is out this week. Sergio Brown and Josh Barrett will both see extended playing time this week. Gary Guyton and Dane Fletcher are both battling injuries. Guyton could be back this week. Brandon Spikes should begin seeing more snaps, too. None of the three are likely to be every-down players, however.
Buffalo
Terrence McGee is out. Kirk Morrison began seeing rotational snaps in the base defense over Andra Davis last week. We’ll see how that progresses.
New York Giants
Osi Umenyiora will miss at least one more week.
Philadelphia
Juqua Parker joins Darryl Tapp on the inactive list this week. Jason Babin will see his snap count jump significantly. Jamar Chaney moves back to MLB, with Casey Matthews kicking back outside. Matthews was seeing more subpackage snaps last week, he could move back toward an every-down role (depending on Keenan Clayton and Brian Rolle’s play) now that he’s back outside.
New York Jets
David Harris practiced more this week. Hopefully, that means he’s ready to go back to his full time role, as the toe kept him out of at least half of last week’s snaps.
Cincinnati
Robert Geathers is likely out again this week. We’ll see if Carlos Dunlap’s improved effort v the run last week gets him more snaps. It’s likely that we’ll see the same rotation as last week, though, when Jonathan Fanene moved over to LDE in the base and Frostee Rucker took a handful of snaps at RDE.
Indianapolis
Should be status quo this week for Pat Angerer and Kavell Conner as the every-down backers. It looks likely that Melvin Bullitt will miss this week’s game, with Terrence Johnson the probable starter.
Washington
LaRon Landry is questionable, but pretty unlikely to play this week. He noted on Thursday that he’d only been going 70-80% and I don’t expect the Redskins to allow him back until he’s able to do much better than that.
