W7 Game Thread - Pittsburgh V Atlanta (1 Viewer)

Vick with 300 combined yards and 5 4 TDs. Overated.
Fixed & from the Vick haters, I'm sure we'll hear plenty of reasons why Vick was able to pass like he did today & none of the reasons will be because of anything he did. That's just how it is. Vick is the Rodney Dangerfuield of QB's.
Agreed. Most of the comments about Vick come from Fantasy football players who want 300+ passing yards and 3 TD's weekly. Not realistic and not the type of player that he is. In REAL life Football, the guy is a winner. Today he was a great FF QB as well. I have ridden him all year and decided to sit him today for Kitna. Even though he went off on my bench, It's good to see him have a monster game.

With the way the defense played and with all the stupid penalties and turnovers, the Steelers didn't deserve to win today. Neither did Atlanta, but someone had to win and Atlanta got the ball last.
This is just sad.
What's sad? The Steelers didn't deserve to win with the way they played, and the Falcons didn't play much better. Both teams gave up around 40 points, and the Falcons got the ball with a chance to win in OT.It wasn't meant as a knock on Atlanta any more than on the Steelers. Falcons fans should be happy getting a win in a game like that - I know I'd have been happy if the Steelers had squeaked by in a game like that.

It's from a Steeler fan. What did you expect?
:lmao: Again, not sure what's in that statement that's not true. Neither team played well today and the Falcons pulled out the win.

i have never seen a team shoot themselves in the foot in more ways or more often than the steelers have this year. some of the credit has to go to the opponents but there is a lot of blame to lay in lots of other places. the unforced errors point to a pitiful job by the steelers coaching staff. if cowher is to get credit for success in years past, he deserves quite a bit of heat for the poor play this year. they seem to come up with new ways to defeat themselves each week and they have earned their 2-4 record.

Holy crap....I really don't want to read through 12 pages of this post.

Could someone give me a quick summary on FWP. Was the Pitt rushing game as bad as it looks on paper? And was the fumble a careless fumble, etc?

If you can't see what's wrong with your post, that three other board members do... far be it for me to even attempt to explain it to you

Fair enough. If you believe the Falcons played a good game while giving up almost 40 points, far be it from me to argue that point. I didn't think either team played well despite the fact that both teams made a lot of plays on offense. The Steelers had way too many turnovers (again), their special teams didn't get the job done, and the defense played like ####. The Falcons won the game, and their fans should enjoy that fact. Congrats.

I couldn't believe the lack of pressure on Vick. Those linemen were turnstiles in the other games.

Vick looks good when he has time.

I agree with Nantz. Hate the sudden death OT. Teams fight it out for 60 minutes and it comes down to who wins the coin toss.
It didn't come down to who won the coin toss; the Steelers D was on the field and could have stopped the Falcons from driving for the winning score.

Steelers didn't deserve to win this game and the officiating was as horrible as the Steelers pass defense. Steelers need to sign or draft a pass rushing lb/de this offseason. Special teams play by the Steelers was terrible like it has been all season. I think the Steelers are the best 2-4 team in the league, but they have earned their 2-4 record. Thank God the Browns play in the same division. :banned:

Of course not. But the fact that 2 teams duke it out for 60 minutes, then the team that loses the coin toss never has a chance on offense just doesn't seem right. They don't do that in college or high school. It should either be a timed quarter (played to it's duration) or x number of possessions each.

As a Steelers fan, I think the morale of today's game was that the Chiefs win was a complete fluke. All we heard was that the Steelers were back. And they were right when it comes to crappy teams. Atlanta is about 5 times better than the Chiefs.

:wall: All you can do is  your head

um, you do know that the chiefs just beat the chargers. the moral of the story today is that turning the ball over and committing stupid penalties will cause even a good team to look like crap and lose. the fluke is that the steelers can pack a year's worth of bone-headed plays into the span of a couple games (namely this one and the bengals game).

243/4 from Vick today.
Gotta give my props to Vick after saying all week that he's not effective passing the ball. Clearly today he was. Don't want to get too carried away as it was just 1 game, but a very very nice one indeed. Also, congrats to the Falcon and Vick fans. This game had the markings of being all bad for the Falcons (agaisnt the might Steeler D) the way the week was shaping up. But they kicked some serious butt today. :banned:

Umm newsflash but the Chiefs just beat the Chargers who many regarded as being one of the top teams in the NFL. The Falcons are not 5 times better than the Chiefs (I would even question if they're better period). This is the NFL and any team can beat any team on a given Sunday (just ask the Texans). The Steelers shot themselves in the foot way too many times and didn't have enough firepower to recover. Because of ridiculous turnovers this year, the Steelers have proven to me that they will be sitting at home this January. Any Steeler fans who think otherwise are living in fantasy land.

Agreed. They have no one to blame but themselves.
