Waiver Wire procedure during the shortened week... (1 Viewer)

I'm sure a lot of leagues (especially those also run through CBS) set the waiver order worst to first by team record after the week's games. When you make a waiver move, you go to the bottom of the list. I'm in 2nd place so I'm usually stuck in 9th slot (10 team league, obviously). Also, when you drop a player, they go on waivers for "at least (1) days" according to the site.

So earlier this week the first place team dropped Kevin Jones for Kolby Smith and it was processed Wednesday morning. Seeing this I immediately put the request in for Jones to which the site said he was on waivers until Friday morning.

Now here's the rub. Since the week started on Thursday, rosters are locked for Add/Drops. I checked the site this morning to see if I had gotten Jones and now it says he's on waivers until Wednesday. But this isn't what peeves me. 3 people made waiver moves this prior to Thursday's games so I'm currently at 7.

After this week's games the waivers will reset where I could be anywhere from 1st to 4th overall. In a worst case scenario where the other 8 teams are caught sleeping, the owner who dropped Jones might be able to pick him back up if we flip/flop in the standings

Should I write to the commish and ask him to process the move that should have been processed this morning, or is the site correct and I'll just have to hold my breath until Wednesday?

Interesting... I had a similar issue w/ CBS this week and the waivers saying Friday afternoon on a player... then all of a sudden switching to Wed. The kicker here is that some players cleared waivers on Friday, but the one player that I had a claim on did not. I sent a PM to the commish inquiring about the situation... but no response as of yet.

Let me ask this: if this had been a normal week, and Jones was dropped on Friday morning.........would he have been made available to you this week? Could you have used your "Week 11 Waiver Position" to get him? Or would you have to wait until the Week 12 results are determined?

Nothing you can do, unless you have a some kind of rule about picking up guys you drop..

Otherwise, it sucks to be winning.

I guess there are 6 others who should be complaining too. What's to say you will get him if you do? In CBS, the commissioner cannot see pending claims. So in order to carry out the process, the commissioner would have to actually poll the league and ask who put a claim for Jones. Then based on responses, manually figure out who deserves the claim based on the current order. In this case, it would bring even more attention to KJ being available.

The way CBS waivers run stinks to say the least but its been this way for a number of years now.

If someone is dropped in a waiver process they should be available to be picked up in the next one.

However, their software goes by 24 hours not number of waiver processes available (i.e. dropped in one waiver run you are eligible to be seen by everyone for a full waiver cycle vs. someone being dropped minutes before the next waivers run).

So even though they have been available for one entire waiver process they are not eligible as the next one will start at least a few seconds ahead of 24 hours when the person in question was dropped.

I sent an email to CBS complaining about this a few years ago and that is basically the answer I received.

So no one dropped this week was going to be available to get picked up before the Thursday games.

This could easily be fixed in their software but they choose not to do so. So basically you have to wait until next week and hope for the best.

Maybe this works differently in some other leagues but I am pretty sure it should work this way in all CBS Sportsline leagues.

Although CBS does not go by 24 hours -- they are processed every night before the 1st kickoff around 3:00 AM. So a player that is dropped could sit on waivers for more than 24 hours before being cleared. That is why they say "at least 1 day(s)".
