Wallets-what do you guys carry? (1 Viewer)

I will just leave my keys and wallet in the car if I am not needing them. I will slide my debit card behind my phone case if I think I will spend money. I should just set up Apple Pay at this point. Hate to jinx it but I still live in a world where your car and home aren't broken into so I don't think about those things.

I have a Bellroy like this (the one I have was a previous version, but pretty similar) I've had mine for about 10 years now and it's still in great shape.

More traditional wallet but still slim. I'm a degenerate gambler so I frequently have cash and don't like the "smart wallets" like the Ridge. I want my money out of sight, not strapped to the outside of my cards.
I've had the card sleeve from bellroy for about 10 years. Love it. I don't really use cash anymore though. Think I've had the same 20 dollar bill in there since before covid hit.

Does anybody here not love their wallet?

Don't like mine. An older, typical leather Polo wallet with some sort of hippie, hacky-sack stitching on the leather. I have no idea why they did that, but that's why it wound up in the discount bin. There's never much in it, anyway, so I don't stress it.

I don’t even carry one. Stopped using a wallet during Covid and never went back. I shove a drivers license, 1-2 credit cards, and $20-40 in my pocket when necessary. No need for a wallet. This is true even when I fly for work. I have a compartment in my laptop bag for health ins card, etc.

I honestly don’t understand what you guys that still carry full wallets are carrying in them. I carry 3 cards - DL, bank card and Costco (and that one is stupid because their gas pumps can’t read their mobile app at my location.
License, school id for kids school (required), building id for work, 2x cc (business, personal) and 2x debit, anti-swipe card protector, MTA subway card. Cash. Lots and lots of condoms.
Looks reasonable, except for the double debit. How often do you use those, and why two?
Business and personal. I use them both about evenly. Which isn't very much any more.

I just hit purchase on this bad boy (color: charcoal). Never use cash anymore either and hate fumbling around in my present slim wallet for a specific card. The pull tab for lesser used cards is slick.

Bought this Hammer minimalist wallet about 4 years ago and it has been great. It is amazing how much space is in that little thing. The central pocket for cash is not large, so it is not great if you want to carry a large number of bills. Beside the central cash slot, there are 6 other pockets. You could easily put 2 cards in each slot, but you start to defeat the purpose of "minimalist" if you are packing it.

This is basically what I carry. I have a 2nd bigger wallet that I keep at home and change out cards and other junk as I need it.

Need a good back pocket (I'm a geezer) wallet. Minimalist and soft (sensitive tuccus). I carry probably 5 cards, a couple coupons (I'm cheap as heck) and a few bucks (I'm a geezer btw).
Suggestions (aside from a time machine)?

Received the new Bellroy card sleeve today. It's perfect. Love it.

I'm a geezer, a creature of habit and I Just always carried in my left back pocket. Almost never wear a shirt with a pocket.

Lol at automatically going to the front shirt pocket if can't carry a wallet in your back pocket.

How about your front pants pocket like the rest of us, old man?

Agreed. What's the rationale of carrying a wallet in the back pocket anyway? Those tend to be smaller pockets, it’s easier to steal and more likely to promote back pain vs. front.

I switched to a small wallet but I still put it my back right pocket. I carry keys in the front right and earbuds, mask, dog poop bags in the front left.

traveling in Europe reinforced the front pocket for me. tends to be tighter. your eyes are more likely to catch someone trying to lift something from the front.

not foolproof as those pickpockets are crafty, but after pickpockets tried my brother twice on the same trip i decided to stop risking it and just switched to front pocket.

Isn’t it just easier to get at also? Phone in one front pocket and wallet in other front pocket.

Not to mention the spine alignment ergonomic aspect of one side of your butt sitting on a square.

Front interferes with alignment of certain manly parts.

Confirmed

Nothing but cold cash in a knot big enough to choke a blue whale, Bruv. Straight baller, I am. Wallets are just man purses.....

Was always misplacing my wallet. It was annoying as ****

Have now gone to a cell phone case that can hold 4 cards. Put work ID, license, and 2 credit cards in there. It’s an iphone mini so phone still feels small. Not having to go looking for my wallet has been a game changer. For I pretty much always know where my phone is

a SECRID mini-wallet

had a bifold for a long time. switched to this.... 5-6 years ago? and won't buy anything else again.
Based upon your advice, I ordered a Secrid Twinwallet last September. At first, I thought I would miss having more capacity, but you know what? I think I could actually go with an even smaller version. It's a fantastic wallet. Highly recommended!

I have a Ridge. Had it from when they first came out. It's good. For those guys that make $15 an hour,is it worth it good?
Was for me and I'm cheap -not on quality which makes it worth the 100+ you will spend on it.

It's not the easiest thing to get used to. You will either like it or hate it.

Wow. I had no idea they were up to $100 now. I love mine and have had it since it was a Kickstarter project but not sure I would spend $100 on it.
